Book Synopsis The Autobiography of Donovan by : Donovan
Download or read book The Autobiography of Donovan written by Donovan and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2005-11-29 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Often called Britains Bob Dylan, Donovan was an unconventional artist, a romantic outsider who ushered in a new sound to the folk genre. His international hits Mellow Yellow and Jennifer Juniper brought folk music to mainstream audiences. Scheduled to coincide with his 40th anniversary tour and the release of Sony/BMGs box set, The Autobiography of Donovan is an openly honest memoir about the life and times of Donovan. He recalls everything, from his days as an itinerate teen, camping on beaches and hitchhiking, to his life as a chart-topping folk star hob-knobbing with such legends as Joan Baez, Brian Jones, and even Bob Dylan, as well as his legendary trip with the Beatles to the Maharishi. With the same poetic charm that made his songs classics, The Autobiography of Donovan is a celebration of the 60s, filled with all the joy, love, and reverie of the times.

On the surface, she is an Arendellian village girl, an aspiring inventor, and the best friend of Prince Agnarr, but she is also secretly Northuldra. Ever since the day the forest fell, Arendellians have despised and distrusted Northuldra with a vengeance. No matter that the Northuldra—along with some of Arendelle’s own—have been trapped in the Enchanted Forest behind an impenetrable wall of mist since the day of the battle. Iduna doesn’t know why the mist refuses to part, or why it descended to begin with. The only clear thing is that she must keep her identity from everyone, even Agnarr. Her life depends on it. Fortunately for her, Agnarr doesn’t know that Iduna is the Northuldra girl he saw seemingly flying on a gust of wind all those years ago, the day of the celebration turned disaster. The day Agnarr lost his father, the king. The day Agnarr himself almost died. What Agnarr does know is that Iduna is a true ally in the face of his royal responsibilities and the expectations of an overbearing council and a well-meaning regent who will rule in Agnarr’s place until he turns twenty-one and assumes the Arendellian throne. As Iduna and Agnarr grow ever closer, however, friendship is no longer enough. If only falling for each other didn’t mean risking their futures: Iduna’s as a hidden-in-plain-sight citizen of Arendelle, and Agnarr’s as imminent king. But for a chance at true love, the risk might be worth taking

But his comfortable middle-class reality comes to a screeching halt when his wife abruptly leaves him for an old boyfriend. Starbuck becomes obsessed with reclaiming some semblance of a normal life, but fate-or some mischievous god-has other plans for him. A series of bizarre events causes him to question his sanity, the world's sanity. As he descends further into a surreal Season of Madness, he blasts an air-raid siren with a rifle on the date of his wedding anniversary. Myron Laszlo, an unkempt, long-haired giant, thrusts himself into Starbuck's life, viewing a bullet-riddled siren as radical and antiestablishment: "Your act of seeming violence was in reality an act of love," he tells Starbuck who becomes his Hurdy Gurdy Man. Almost as suddenly as he came into Starbuck's life, Laszlo departs, leaving a display of destruction in his wake. Saddened at the loss of his friend, Starbuck reprioritizes his life and begins working on a novel. After realizing that normalcy can have many interpretations, he decides to meet the seeming madness of Life head-on.
