Book Synopsis The House Where the Robin Sings by : Marianne Marullo
Download or read book The House Where the Robin Sings written by Marianne Marullo and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-03-19 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a caregiver for over 20 years to my mother, writing stories became a way to escape into a world of make believe. I have been asked "How do you write a children's story?" Well, you put your mind into that of a 10 year old child and write! Since I have the brain of a 10 year old, it wasn't hard! I have always been a lover of animals and birds. There wasn't a year I can remember that we didn't have a parakeet in the house. That's because I was allergic to cats, long haired dogs and horses. My dream of being a veterinarian was curtailed at a very early age, I can assure you. I actually took up writing in 2005 with "My Fine Feathered (and Furry) Friends" (published by Publish America). It was a humorous look at feeding the birds and animals where I work. Since then I have been writing short animal stories and decided it was time for a children's book. This book is the end result. In the ever increasing "electronic world" we live in I believe there is still nothing better than curing up with a good book. As a child, reading can make your imagination soar and take you places you've never been before. It did with me. It is my hope that these stories will become favorites of you and your children. If they make you giggle or just go "Awww!" my work is complete. Please feel free to write to me at [email protected]. I would love to hear from you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Martin Luther's relationship to music has been largely downplayed, yet music played a vital role in Luther's life -- and he in turn had a deep and lasting effect on Christian hymnody. In Luther's Liturgical Music Robin Leaver comprehensively explores these connections. Replete with tables, figures, and musical examples, this volume is the most extensive study on Luther and music ever published. Leaver's work makes a formidable contribution to Reformation studies, but worship leaders, musicians, and others will also find it an invaluable, very readable resource.

This book was released on 2019-04-17 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During his two-year residence at Walden Pond, Henry David Thoreau became keenly aware of the natural world that surrounded him. Entries from his journals reflect his soulful, in-depth observations of local wildlife, and his remarks on birds are particularly plentiful and poetic. This book, originally published as Notes on New England Birds in 1910 and edited and arranged by Francis H. Allen, collects Thoreau's thoughts on the various bird species that populated the New England woods, from the great blue heron to the kingbird and the American finch. "Open to any page and you will find, besides apt descriptions of the natural world, a cogent remark or a philosophical observation," noted The Washington Post. Bird lovers and watchers, fans of Thoreau, and naturalists and environmentalists will delight in joining the author as he saunters through the woods and ponders the region's abundant wildlife. A new selection of 16 full-page color illustrations by John James Audubon enhances the text.

Book Synopsis The Seasons of the Robin by : Don Grussing
Download or read book The Seasons of the Robin written by Don Grussing and published by Univ of TX + ORM. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dramatic tale of nature, survival, and learning to fly “covers a year in the life of a robin, from the bird’s point of view” (Star Tribune). In a small nest in a large oak tree, the drama begins. A young American Robin breaks open his shell and emerges into a world that will provide the warmth of sunny days and the life-threatening chill of cold, rainy nights; the satisfaction of a full stomach and the danger of sudden predator attacks; and the chance to mature into an adult robin who’ll begin the cycle of life all over again come next spring. In The Seasons of the Robin, Don Grussing tells the uncommon life story of one of the most common birds, the North American Robin. Written as fiction to capture the high drama that goes on unnoticed right outside our windows, the book follows a young male robin through the first year of life. From his perspective, we experience many common episodes of a bird’s life—struggling to get out of the egg; awkwardly attempting to master flight; learning to avoid predators; migrating for the first time; returning home; establishing a territory; finding a mate; and beginning the cycle again. This creative approach of presenting natural history through a fictional, yet factually based, story allows us to experience the spine-tingling, nerve-wracking, adrenaline-flowing excitement that is so much a part of the life of every wild thing.
