Artis Weyland, inspector with the High Crimes Division, leads the man-hunt for the man suspected of brutally killing his wife, Emma, and her son, Charlie. On this night, the dead will speak. Nearly fifty years later, Allen and Jennifer Cherones, along with their son, Carl, have purchased a two-story house through their good friend and realtor, Ronald Avery. To help fix it up, Allen turns to his brother, Doug, and together the three set out to turn it into a dream home. “You’ve never heard of Thomas Lepp? He’s this towns own version of the Jersey Devil.” What seems like a deal too good to be true turns into a real nightmare for the young Cherones family. They seek the help of their new neighbors, Dorothy and Roger Faustine, who help them unravel the home’s bloody past. When the ghostly threat becomes all too deadly, the family realizes the former residents of this house have never left and are now looking to reclaim The House Where Charlie Lived.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charlie, like all small snails, lives in a shell. And since this two-in-one protective cover is strapped onto his back, Charlie carries his home with him everywhere. One day, while having a snail race with his friends—as snails like to do—there’s a terrible accident. As Charlie nears the finish line, the misplaced shoe of a little boy running through the garden comes down and breaks his shell. Charlie’s shell—and his home—are completely destroyed. To make matters worse, winter is coming and Charlie has nowhere to go. Charlie’s friends try to help him find a new home, but none seem to fit just right: they are too hard, too sticky, too sharp, or too flimsy. Will someone be able to help Charlie find a new home before winter? Featuring a story of friendship from author and illustrator Doris Lecher, A New House for Charlie teaches children about helping others and showing compassion and empathy when hurting another person, even if unintentionally. Appropriate for children ages 3 to 6. Parents and educators will like the lessons throughout the book and children will be able to relate to Charlie as he tries to find a new home. Sky Pony Press, with our Good Books, Racehorse and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of books for young readers—picture books for small children, chapter books, books for middle grade readers, and novels for young adults. Our list includes bestsellers for children who love to play Minecraft; stories told with LEGO bricks; books that teach lessons about tolerance, patience, and the environment, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

As the White House gardener put it, they were also filled with children and dogs. The Dogs of Camelotilluminates the inside story of the Kennedys’ lifelong love of dogs and the unparalleled canine corps they brought to the White House. The American public only saw glimpses of the many Kennedy pets because of the zealous way Jackie Kennedy guarded her family’s privacy. Through cooperation with the Kennedy Library, the authors have access to rare and previously unpublished photos and stories that present a fascinating angle about the Kennedys that is deeply revealing about their character and compassion.

Book excerpt: A BELLETRIST BOOK CLUB PICK “Halperin’s radiant second novel walks the fine line between the longing for couplehood and the torture of codependency. . . . Let the rapturous intimacy and gut-churning ups and downs begin!” —Leigh Haber, The New York Times Book Review “I read this book in three days and canceled plans to finish it. It is heart-wrenching and relatable in so many ways.” —Emma Roberts By the award-winning author of Something Wild, a gripping portrait of a tumultuous, consuming relationship between a young woman and a recovering addict When Leah Kempler meets Charlie Nelson in line at the grocery store, their attraction is immediate and intense. Charlie, with his big feelings and grand proclamations of love, captivates her completely. But there are peculiarities of his life—he’s older than her but lives with his parents; he meets up with a friend at odd hours of the night; he sleeps a lot and always seems to be coming down with something. He confesses that he’s a recovering heroin addict, but he promises Leah that he’s never going to use again. Leah's friends and family are concerned. As she finds herself getting deeper into an isolated relationship, one of manipulation and denial, the truth about Charlie feels as blurry as their time together. Even when Charlie’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, when he starts to make Leah feel unsafe, she can’t help but feel that what exists between them is destined. Charlie is wide open, boyish, and unbearably handsome. The bounds of Leah’s own pain—and love—are so deep that she can’t see him spiraling into self-destruction. Hanna Halperin writes with aching vulnerability and intimacy, sharply attuned to Leah’s desire for an all-consuming, compulsive connection. I Could Live Here Forever exposes the chasm between perception and truth to tell an intoxicating story of one woman’s relationship with an addict, the accompanying swirl of compassion and codependence, and her enduring search for love and wholeness.

Once accomplished, he not only dropped her, but also promised to ruin her professionally if she remained in Philadelphia. To avoid the gossip, Charlotte tells everyone in Soda Flats that she is a widow. It seems the only respectable role for a lone woman moving west. Once settled in her new town, she meets many good people, including handsome stonemason, Niels Sorensen. Charlotte wants very much to have a life with Niels, but she has so many secrets, not actually being a widow the least of them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The character of Jordan Grimes emerged over a period of ten years. He is a criminal, but we find that he is a troubled soul as well. His ideas of life and the world get him into far more trouble than he would like, but as you will see, Jordan likes trouble. The other characters in Living Large are much the same as you and me. They have their character flaws and their oddities, but they manage to maintain a lifestyle that suits them and yet somehow continuously places them in harm’s way. Since one character is a police officer, he is one of many attempting to lure Jordan Grimes into a trap to pay for his crimes. Yet as with criminals whose lives have many facets, Jordan creates trouble without trying and is very difficult to pin down. As readers, you will recognize that in this book as well as in life, the people you encounter are a select group, those that are in your circle of friends or part of your work associates. These people may remain in your life a short time or your entire life. This story exaggerates that a bit, but that makes it all the more intriguing. I believe you will find it difficult not to root for Jordan Grimes, criminal extraordinaire, not because he is bad, but because even with his flaws, you can’t help but like his desire to persevere despite the odds against him.
