Convinced after examination of their utter groundlessness, I was anxious, if I could, to make it for ever impossible that well-informed Clergymen, - or indeed well-informed Laymen, - should be thus led away from the teaching of the true Branch of the Church in this country. And at the same time it appeared to me that light would be shed from such a discussion upon the principles of the Church, inasmuch as controversy has ever brought out into relief the Doctrines delivered by our Lord.
