Book excerpt: Over a dozen spaceships had disappeared into hyperspace, never to return. The lost vessels included the Jason, the Starbird, and the Invincible. Everyone assumed that they had fallen victim to some mechanical failure. But the mystery deepened when the Invincible was found drifting in space, six months after vanishing. The ship's engines were undamaged, the hull intact - but there was no trace of any living thing aboard; living or dead. No trace of its crew or the two hundred passengers. The ship was deserted! Something had happened to the ship, to the passengers and crew. Something in hyperspace - or somebody!

This book was released on 2022-04-13 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The knowledge and innovation meant for knowledge-based economies (KBEs) are branded as green knowledge and innovation/ethical human capital, blended with the natural system as modeled by the Quintuple Helix Model of Innovation. However, due to bureaucratic challenges and myths, conventional universities produce knowledge and innovation in the sense of traditional disciplinary knowledge, which are not adequate to meet the goals of sustainable development. This book provides a model for greening a university which in turn can produce green knowledge and innovation in the mainstream knowledge production process. This model, which is based on research, can be adopted by the conventional universities in other regions. Such a process results in providing benefits to stakeholders of the university at the micro-level. At the macro-level, it blends with the other knowledge systems—namely, the natural environment of society, economic system, media-based and culture-based public and civil society, and political system—to create a sustainable knowledge economy.

Book excerpt: This proceedings volume explores the pathways and mechanisms by which constituent residues interact and fold to yield native biological macromolecules (catalytic RNA and functional proteins), how ribosomes and other macromolecular complexes self-assemble, and relevant energetics considerations. At the week-long interactive conference, some 20 leading researchers reported their most pertinent results, confronting each other and an audience of more than 150 specialists from a wide range of scientific disciplines, including structural and molecular biology, biophysics, computer science, mathematics, and theoretical physics. The fourteen papers - and audience interaction - are edited and illustrated versions of the transcribed oral presentations.
