Download or read book The Grace Factor written by Sarah Bowling and published by Sarah Bowling - Living Genuine Love. This book was released on 2024-06-27 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grace is a very “Christianese” term that is often misunderstood by both Christians and nonbelievers. When you break it down, it is a simple concept that has daily application in our lives. The definition most often given to grace is: a God-given opportunity to change with His power. That sounds Christianese too, doesn’t it? But that really does say it all. Grace is a gift of God, and there’s absolutely nothing we can do (or have done) to persuade Him to give it to us — He gives His grace because He chooses to.

Book excerpt: The supply of grace gives a believer the capacity, knowledge, ability and expertise in accomplishing divine purposes in life. It is the leverage a believer carries that makes him outstanding in life. Apostle Paul describes this great gift from God to us in 1 Corinthians 15:9-10. Grace is what made this man, a former persecutor and killer of Christians to be called an Apostle. Grace was the major factor that made all things that seemed impossible to be possible in his life. In my few years in ministry, I have seen this factor of grace work wonders in my life and this book will give insight into God’s abundant grace that will trigger the greatness in you.

Download or read book THE PAUL FACTOR written by FORREST DAVIS and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-06-18 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a "Paul Factor" cloud that hovers over the New Testament that deserves at least a conversation. Paul's "conversion" to Christianity occurred 37 years after Jesus' death and resurrection and although Paul never met Jesus in person, he nevertheless went on to personally define Jesus and Christianity for most of the Christian world. On one occasion Paul "made no bones" about what he perceived to be his authority. According to him, he was given absolute and total latitude to carry out a mission that apparently he himself defined when he stated in Col. 1:25: "I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God." The wording of that authority has no resemblance to the authority also given to Paul by Jesus' Spirit on the road to Damascus. The following is what Paul said Jesus initially told him: "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins. (Acts 26:18)" If those were the instructions actually given by Jesus, then that is the only authority Paul had and it was very specifically (and only) intended to bring repentance to the Gentiles by teaching them to love God and to love others. Even though Paul went on to correctly teach many things about God and His word, he also took it on himself to... (As he would then later describe it) "FULFILL" that word. However, when he "fulfilled" it, he generously changed some of it, then added to it and then took away from it. Since Paul assumed to have such authority, whatever he decided to teach was to be the fulfillment of the word. Ultimately, that "fulfillment" would give his perception of spirituality priority over the written word and eventually (in today's culture) came to discount most of it altogether.
Download or read book The Sot-Weed Factor written by John Barth and published by Deep Vellum Publishing. This book was released on 2016-01-12 with total page 737 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is Barth's most distinguished masterpiece. This modern classic is a hilarious tribute to all the most insidious human vices, with a hero who is "one of the most diverting...to roam the world since Candide." "A feast. Dense, funny, endlessly inventive (and, OK, yes, long-winded) this satire of the 18th-century picaresque novel-think Fielding's Tom Jones or Sterne's Tristram Shandy -is also an earnest picture of the pitfalls awaiting innocence as it makes its unsteady way in the world. It's the late 17th century and Ebenezer Cooke is a poet, dutiful son and determined virgin who travels from England to Maryland to take possession of his father's tobacco (or "sot weed") plantation. He is also eventually given to believe that he has been commissioned by the third Lord Baltimore to write an epic poem, The Marylandiad. But things are not always what they seem. Actually, things are almost never what they seem. Not since Candide has a steadfast soul witnessed so many strange scenes or faced so many perils. Pirates, Indians, shrewd prostitutes, armed insurrectionists - Cooke endures them all, plus assaults on his virginity from both women and men. Barth's language is impossibly rich, a wickedly funny take on old English rhetoric and American self-appraisals. For good measure he throws in stories within stories, including the funniest retelling of the Pocahontas tale -revealed to us in the "secret" journals of Capt. John Smith - that anyone has ever dared to tell." —Time Magazine

Download or read book "Free Grace" Theology written by Wayne Grudem and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2016-07-18 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Must the gospel message include a call for people to repent of their sins? “No,” say Free Grace advocates. Is evidence of a changed life an important indication of whether a person is truly born again? “No, again,” these advocates say. But in this book, Wayne Grudem shows how the Bible answers “Yes” to both of these questions, arguing that the Free Grace movement contradicts both historic Protestant teaching and the New Testament itself. This important book explains the true nature of the Christian gospel and answers the question asked by so many people: “How can I know that I’m saved?”

Download or read book Ole Wives Tales written by Forrest Davis and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-11-28 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I define Ole Wives Tales, as a belief or practice that is not completely supported by the bible. Have you ever heard someone say: I dont care what the bible says; I know what Ive been taught? If so, you were a witness to an Ole Wives Tale in action. I used the word completely in the first sentence because most of the ole tales rely on excerpts from scripture to support their conclusions. Jesus taught us that the whole bible must be merged into a consensus about any subject that is taught. He illustrated that when He was being tempted by Satan and also when He exchanged views with the Chief Priests and their lawyers. In each of those examples Jesus answered their quoting of scripture by declaring Have you not also heard and went on to quote other scripture that constructed a completely different (consolidated) conclusion. He taught us one cant pick and choose stand-alone excerpts from the bible without verifying them with the balance and consensus of everything else taught about the same subject. Not to believe that is to endorse another Ole Wives Tale.
