Book Synopsis INTENTIONAL CHRISTIAN; 31 Day Devotional for God Seekers by : Jennifer Miller

This book was released on 2017-06-21 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Christians, we are so multifaceted in who God created us to be and in all He created us to do. No matter where we are in the world, the color of our skin or the varying issues and character makeup of our individual lives. We have one common desire and that is to be steadfast in our devotion to God. By intentionally setting aside quality devotional time to commune with him, we can be steadfast inwardly and outwardly in response to everyday life and situations. The more we look into the lives of the men and women of the Bible, we observe how intentional their relationship with God was. By how they cultivated a private devotional life with him, then God used them to display His glory publicly. Through ridicule, flesh issues, rejection by family and friends, poverty, war, death, the hardships of life and many more things, they practiced the importance of cultivating an intimate relationship with God in private was essential to their existence and as their necessity. They practice intentionality with God by spending quality time with Him in spite of the everyday responsibilities of life. This is where the inspiration for this devotional Intentional Christian is derived from. Jesus, being our chief example, showed us, His children that we have to intentionally cultivate a private devotional life with him. He made an intentional and deliberate decision to cultivate an intimate relationship with his Father, through devotional time spent in private, when no one was looking, while being in his secret place. It is from these intimate moments Jesus spent with his Father he was always empowered, prepared and lived life victoriously every day, staying spiritually and physically in tune and connected to do the will of God: even in dying on the cross for the sins of the world "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Luke 5:16 "However, he made a practice of withdrawing to remote places in order to pray."
Book Synopsis The Ministry of the Word, Vol. 22, No. 12 by : Various Authors
Download or read book The Ministry of the Word, Vol. 22, No. 12 written by Various Authors and published by Living Stream Ministry. This book was released on 2018-12-01 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This issue of The Ministry of the Word contains the last eight messages given during the fall 2002 term of the full-time training in Anaheim, California. The general subject of this series of messages is "Christ and the Church in the Psalms." The messages in this issue cover Psalms 118 through 150. In Psalm 118 we see Christ as the stone for God's building. God's building is God's expression. God's eternal intention is to have a corporate, glorious, living, organic, eternal divine-human expression of Himself, which is His building. Christ, the stone which the builders rejected, became the head of the corner in resurrection. Christ, the stone, is constituting Himself into us through transformation to make us living stones for God's building. Then He, as the foundation stone, cornerstone, and topstone, and we, as the many living stones, will become the glorious dwelling place of God, which is typified by the temple. In Psalm 119 we see that Christ is the reality of the law as the testimony of God and the word of God. Christ is the reality of the law as the testimony of God, signifying Christ as the living portrait of all that God is.

Book Synopsis What the God-seekers Found in Nietzsche by : Nel Grillaert
Download or read book What the God-seekers Found in Nietzsche written by Nel Grillaert and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2008 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, a large and varied group of the Russian intelligentsia became fascinated by Friedrich Nietzsche, whose provocative ideas inspired many of them to overcome obsolete traditions and to create new values. Paradoxically, the German philosopher, who vigorously challenged the established Christian worldview, invigorated the rich ferment of religious philosophy in the Russian Silver Age: his ideas served as a fruitful source of inspiration for the philosophers of the Russian religious renaissance, the so-called God-seekers, in their quest for a new religious consciousness. Especially Nietzsche's anthropology of the Übermensch was instrumental in their reformulation of Christianity. This book explores how three pivotal figures in the Russian religious reception of Nietzsche, i.e. Vladimir Solov'ëv, Dmitrii Merezhkovskii and Nikolai Berdiaev, engaged in a vacillating yet highly prolific debate with Nietzsche and how each of them appropriated his anthropology of the Übermensch in their religious philosophy. In order to explain Merezhkovskii's and Berdiaev's assessment of Nietzsche, the author highlights the significance of Dostoevskii: only by reading Nietzsche through the prism of Dostoevskii could both God-seekers pin down the religious ramifications of Nietzsche's thought. This book will be of interest to anyone fascinated by Nietzsche, Dostoevskii, Russian religious philosophy, Russian history of ideas and reception studies.

Book Synopsis Conference of the Birds by : Farid Al-Din Attar
Download or read book Conference of the Birds written by Farid Al-Din Attar and published by Weiser Books. This book was released on 2001-10-15 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First written in the 12th century, Conference of the Birds is an allegory of extreme measures for extreme times -- the story of birds seeking a king is the story of all of us seeking God. Like the birds, we may be excited for the journey, until we realize that we must give up our fears and hollow desires, that our journey will be long and hard. Like the duck, we may not wish to leave the water. Like the nightingale, we may want to stay close to our roses. Direct and to the point, Masani's translation, made in the early part of the 19th century, is particularly apropos for our early 21st century times -- both are periods of intense spiritual seeking.
