Book excerpt: Jesus said the Father is the one and only true God (John 5:43-44, 17:3). Apostle Paul taught the same thing (1 Corinthians 8:4-6, 11:3, 1Timothy 2:5). Jesus said the Father is greater than Him and that He receives his life from the Father (John 14:28, 5:26). Yet Christian theology teaches Jesus is also the one and only true God, is equal with the Father, and has existed eternally with the Father in an indwelling relationship of Father, Son, and Spirit. The Bible repeatedly speaks of “God the Father.” You will not find the phrase God the Son or God the Spirit in the Scriptures. The Bible consistently speaks of the Son of God and Spirit of God but never speaks of the Father of God. In The God OF Jesus, it will be demonstrated that the reason the Bible never speaks of God the Son, God the Spirit, or the Father of God, is because the Father, and only the Father, IS God. It will be clearly shown who Jesus is and what the Spirit is in relation to who God is.

Book excerpt: The Light of Christ provides an accessible presentation of Catholicism that is grounded in traditional theology, but engaged with a host of contemporary questions or objections. Inspired by the theologies of Iranaeus, Thomas Aquinas and John Henry Newman, and rooted in a post-Vatican II context, Fr. Thomas Joseph White presents major doctrines of the Christian religion in a way that is comprehensible for non-specialists: knowledge of God, the mystery of the Trinity, the Incarnation and the atonement, the sacraments and the moral life, eschatology and prayer. At the same time, The Light of Christ also addresses topics such as evolution, the modern historical study of Jesus and the Bible, and objections to Catholic moral teaching. Touching on the concerns of contemporary readers, Fr. White examines questions such as whether Christianity is compatible with the findings of the modern sciences, do historical Jesus studies disrupt or confirm the teaching of the faith, and does history confirm the antiquity of Catholic claims. This book serves as an excellent introduction for young professionals with no specialized background in theology who are interested in learning more about Catholicism, or as an introduction to Catholic theology. It will also serve as a helpful text for theology courses in a university context. As Fr. White states in the book’s introduction: “This is a book that offers itself as a companion. I do not presume to argue the reader into the truths of the Catholic faith, though I will make arguments. My goal is to make explicit in a few broad strokes the shape of Catholicism. I hope to outline its inherent intelligibility or form as a mystery that is at once visible and invisible, ancient and contemporary, mystical and reasonable.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a consensus among many New Testament scholars that much of what the historical Jesus and his apostles taught has been submerged by an influx of post-biblical tradition. Subtle foreign influences, mostly from pagan Greek philosophy, which neither Jesus nor his first-century followers would recognize or endorse, have obscured the original Gospel as Jesus preached it. Most churchgoers accept without question, unbiblical traditions which they have never seriously investigated. In They Never Told Me This in Church! Greg Deuble invites the reader to a careful re-examination of ?the faith once delivered? in the light of the Hebrew heritage which formed the framework of all that Jesus taught in regard to himself and his Gospel mission. From the Foreword: ?This does not mean at all that Greg has given up faith in holy Scripture. Far from it. There is nothing trendy or gimmicky in his approach. Rather, he has learned to read the Bible from its own Hebrew perspective, and shedding a large quantity of traditional baggage has made the Bible all the more brilliant and telling. Because he is an honest student of truth, Greg has been rewarded...with unusual insight. He has a knack of getting to the heart of the issues. He has brought in a wealth of modern scholarly support for his argument, and the quotations gleaned from his wide reading are impressive. He adds a pleasing dose of Aussie humour to his writing while he invites us to re-examine all the major issues of biblical theology. The personal warmth of the author and his pastoral touch are evident in all he writes.?They Never Told Me This in Church! will inspire and challenge all who claim devotion to Jesus, and many who are searching for the meaning of his role in history. They will be enabled to read the Bible with new eyes! The confused state of divided Christendom in our time demands just such an honest and radical investigation.

Book excerpt: DISCOVER AFRESH THE BIBLICAL JESUS!Jesus Christ embodies God's glory and fullness. More than that, he is the only perfect man who has ever lived. But whereas his perfection is often taken for granted and regarded as a given, on the contrary it is a most stupendous achievement unparalleled in salvation history, for it was as a true man and not the trinitarian "God-man" that Jesus became perfect through suffering, obedience, and God's indwelling. He was consequently exalted to God's right hand as His supreme plenipotentiary, and given all authority in heaven and on earth. Hence the subtitle of the book, "The Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ" (2Cor.4:6). This book is exegetical yet also devotional and inspirational.ALSO DISCUSSED: - Yahweh the only true God- The historical roots of trinitarianism- Jesus of the Bible versus Jesus of trinitarianism- The four pillars of trinitarianism (John 1, Colossians 1, Hebrews 1, Revelation 1)- Jesus as the "form of God" in Philippians 2- The name above all names given to Jesus- Jesus' perfection as a model and inspiration to God's people- God's glory manifested in Jesus Christ, the perfect image of God.

Book excerpt: Christianity Today 2023 Book Award (Theology - Academic) In both biblical studies and systematic theology, modern treatments of the person of Christ have cast doubt on whether earlier Christian descriptions of God--in which God is immutable, impassible, eternal, and simple--can fit together with the revelation of God in Christ. This book explains how the Jesus revealed in Scripture comports with such descriptions of God. The author argues that the Bible's Christology coheres with and even requires the affirmation of divine attributes like immutability, impassibility, eternity, and simplicity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blind Faith: How Christianity abandoned God, Part One – the Trinity doctrine, is the first book in a three-part series focused on exposing age-old spiritual beliefs that have been proven to be false. The trinity doctrine is arguably the most accepted, if not a fundamental belief in Christianity today. It’s the belief that claims God is made up of three distinct persons all unique but yet one. The focus of blind faith is to prove to you that the trinity doctrine is a false belief that was concocted and voted on by the 4th century CE, Roman appointed Ecumenical Bishops, who then went on to mislead the whole church into believing in a false god and have done so until this day. The only reason this doctrine is still viewed as truth is because of sixteen centuries of indoctrination, control and monopoly of the church when in fact there is no evidence anywhere in history, or in the Bible to support the existence of such a god (a triune god). If this doctrine is false then its goes without saying that the core or the foundation of what Christians believe today about who God is, is equally false. In other words, Christianity today is based on a lie and the 2.2 billion Christians around the world are following a lie. A lie if brought to light would shake the very foundations of Christianity as we know it.

Book excerpt: Indeed, the question of the identity of Jesus Christ is the most important theological issue of all human history. This volume carefully re-examines the biblical evidence in light of modern textual research and a thorough survey of scholarly opinion, arguing that the biblically accurate answer to the question of his identity is provided by Peter, John, Mary, Paul, and other first-century believers.

Book excerpt: The orderliness of the universe and the existence of human beings already provides some reason for believing that there is a God - as argued in Richard Swinburne's earlier book Is There a God ? Swinburne now claims that it is probable that the main Christian doctrines about the nature of God and his actions in the world are true. In virtue of his omnipotence and perfect goodness, God must be a Trinity, live a human life in order to share our suffering, and found a church which would enable him to tell all humans about this. It is also quite probable that he would provide his human life as an atonement for our wrongdoing, teach us how we should live and tell us his plans for our future after death. Among founders of religions, Jesus satisfies uniquely well the requirement of living the sort of human life which God would need to have lived. But to give us adequate reason to believe that Jesus was God, God would need to put his 'signature' on the life of Jesus by an act which he alone could do, for example raise him from the dead. There is adequate historical evidence that Jesus rose from the dead. The church which he founded gave plausible interpretations of his basic message. Therefore Christian doctrines are probably true.
