Complete, Unabridged, Restored:The Glories of Mary is a classic of Mariology, written during the 18th century by Saint Alphonsus Liguori, the great Doctor of the Church. The book was written at a time when Jansenists criticized Marian devotions, and was written in part as a defense of Marian devotion. The book combines numerous citations in favor of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary from the Church Fathers and the Doctors of the Church with Saint Alphonsus' own personal views on Marian veneration and includes a number of Marian prayers and practices.Part 1 focuses on the Salve Regina and explains how God gave Mary to mankind as the "Gate of Heaven". St. Alphonsus quotes Saint Bonaventure:"No one can enter Heaven unless by Mary, as though through a door."Part 2 deals with the key Marian feasts such as the Immaculate Conception, Nativity, Purification, Annunciation, Assumption, etc. Part 3 looks at the even Sorrows of Mary, explaining how her "prolonged martyrdom" was greater than that of all other martyrs. In part 4 fourth we discuss ten different virtues of the Blessed Virgin, while part 5 rounds out the work with a collection of prayers, meditations and devotions.

They are incredibly, highly detailed and descriptive, revealing to us more information about the Life of Jesus Christ besides what we read of Him in the Bible. These excerpts are from the book: THE DOLOROUS PASSION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.The addendum on the Resurrection, Ascension, Day of Pentecost and the Life of Mary after the Ascension of Christ are from the book: The Lowly Life and Bitter Passion of OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AND HIS BLESSED MOTHER. Her parish priest summoned two doctors to examine her. Three months later, when knowledge of the anomaly spread, he informed the vicar general. With the news making a stir in town, the ecclesiastical authorities launched an extensive investigation. Many doctors wanted to investigate the case, and despite efforts to deter the curious, some visitors got entrance because of their rank or status. During this time, the poet and romanticist Clemens Brentano made his first visit. Emmerich claimed that as a child, she had visions in which she spoke with Jesus, saw people in purgatory, and saw the core of the Holy Trinity in the form of three concentric, interpenetrating complete spheres. The largest but dimmest sphere symbolized the Father core, the medium was the Son's core, and the smallest and brightest was the Holy Spirit's core. Each sphere of the omnipresent God extends to infinity beyond heaven's core. According to the Brentano compilation, a child (believed to be Jesus) visited Emmerich during her childhood illness and taught her about plants she should take to heal, including Morning Glory flower juice, which contains ergine.

However, the Vatican focused on her own personal piety rather than the religious writings associated to her by Clemens Brentano. Emmerich has a widespread devotion among Traditionalist Catholics[citation needed]. Her documents of postulation towards canonization is handled by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter.

Book excerpt: The following meditations will probably rank high among many similar works which the contemplative love of Jesus has produced; but it is our duty, here plainly to affirm that they have no pretensions whatever to be regarded as history. They are but intended to take one of the lowest places among those numerous representations of the Passion which have been given us by pious writers and artists, and to be considered at the very utmost as the Lenten meditations of a devout nun, related, in all simplicity, and written down in the plainest and most literal language, from her own dictation. To these meditations, she herself never attached more than a mere human value, and never related them except through obedience, and upon the repeated commands of the directors of her conscience.

Book excerpt: This is an account of the events leading up to the Crucifixion of Christ by a 19th century German stigmatic and visionary, Anne Catherine Emmerich. This once-obscure book recently achieved a much higher profile because it was used as an inspiration for the screenplay of Mel Gibson's controversial movie, The Passion of the Christ. A riveting 'you are there' account of this pivotal event, the story is told with great attention to small details, many not mentioned in the Gospels. This is not a novelization; it is a recounting of Emmerich's ecstatic visions, which were accompanied by painful and mysterious physical torments. Emmerich was practically illiterate and this book was dictated by her, which makes the fact that the narrative is so internally coherent all the more compelling.

Anne Catherine's visions clearly fall in the category of private revelation. Although Sacred Scripture is infallible, private revelation is fallible. Although God cannot err in anything He does, errors can be introduced into private revelation by a misunderstanding on the part of the person who receives the revelation, or by an error made by the person who writes down or transmits the revelation. Sacred Scripture is immune from these types of error; private revelation is not. Anne Catherine's visions come from God, but they are fallible because they come to us through fallible human persons. However, her visions are neither mere human meditations nor pious fiction. Her account of events in the lives of Jesus and Mary were revealed to her by God.Divine Providence Press works to spread the fragrance of Christ throughout the world, scattering little petals of providence by means of spiritual classics, devotional literature, children's books and other writings that incarnate God's beauty and the splendor of truth.
