Then, the concept will be discussed in reference to the equality section of the Charter. Finally, a number of arguments will be advanced against equal value legislation. These arguments are based on the theory that equal value is an impractical and unworkable concept and will accomplish very little in the struggle for women's rights. What is really needed to advance the women's cause is a significant strengthening of Ontario's equal employment opportunity programs which would give women the chance to gain both better wages and better jobs, as well as vigorous enforcement of existing equal pay laws.
