Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Peter Wraae Marino, and I have been teaching gymnastics for over 25 years. Trampolines have become very cheap and are accessible by almost anyone. Almost every street has a house with a garden trampoline. Trampolines are fun, and they allow kids to start exploring the world of gymnastics in their own garden. At our gymnastics club, we start new classes right after summer vacation. It is very easy to pick out the children who have garden trampolines. These children will usually attempt more difficult skills without any technical knowledge about how to execute these skills. It saddens me to see this because many of these children want to do gymnastics but have used their whole summer developing gymnastic skills on the trampoline incorrectly and have therefore created what we call “bad habits.” Bad habits is a term used in the gymnastic world when a gymnast always executes their skill using an incorrect technique because he or she has done it so many times that it has become second nature. This handbook is created to help tackle these problems. This handbook assumes that you have no knowledge about gymnastics or trampolines. We will build your basic trampoline skills step-by-step from the ground up.

Book excerpt: This practical resource explores the benefits of therapeutic trampolining on children and young people with special educational needs. It supports practitioners as they introduce the trampoline into their own therapeutic settings. Trampolining is known to improve balance, co-ordination and motor skills; it can improve bone density and benefit the lymphatic and cardiovascular systems. It has even shown to encourage communication in children with autism and PMLD. This book draws on the author’s extensive experience of delivering both the British Gymnastics Trampoline Proficiency Award scheme as well as the Rebound Therapy trampolining programme. The book also explores the practical side on how to set up and deliver trampolining as a therapy in schools, clubs or in the home. Photocopiable material includes: Lesson equipment, such as schemes of work, lesson plans adapted for varying needs and a trampoline rules poster. Tools for offering therapeutic trampolining sessions such as sequencing cards, communication cards, Risk Assessment, an individual education plan and a communication placemat. All the necessary forms to ensure a safe trampolining environment for all participants, including screening forms, referral and assessment forms and relevant policies. A business plan for after school provision, advertising leaflet and service level agreement. This is an invaluable resource for anybody looking to explore therapeutic trampolining as a way of enhancing the physical and emotional wellbeing of children and young people with special educational needs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Praised as “a tender exploration of friendship, families, and first love” (Liane Moriarty, New York Times bestselling author of The Husband’s Secret), this coming-of-age novel from bestselling author Frances Whiting is equal parts heartwarming, accessible, and thought provoking. “Tallulah de Longland,” she said slowly, letting all the Ls in my name loll about lazily in her mouth before passing judgment. “That,” she announced, “is a serious glamorgeous name.” From the day Annabelle Andrews sashays into her classroom, Tallulah ‘Lulu’ de Longland is bewitched: by Annabelle, by her family, and by their sprawling, crumbling house tumbling down to the river. Their unlikely friendship intensifies through a secret language where they share confidences about their unusual mothers, first loves, and growing up in the small coastal town of Juniper Bay. But the euphoria of youth rarely lasts, and the implosion that destroys their friendship leaves lasting scars and a legacy of self-doubt that haunts Lulu into adulthood. Years later, Lulu is presented with a choice: remain the perpetual good girl who misses out, or finally step out from the shadows and do something extraordinary. And possibly unforgivable… It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transforming outdoor space is one of the hottest home trends today. Landscaping expands living space square footage, makes a property more usable, and keeps homeowners healthier whether they grow vegetables or swim laps. It also makes a neighborhood more aesthetically attractive and community minded. The Garden Bible can help homeowners understand the challenges of their outdoor space and what they need to do to create their garden and make it thrive. Photographed in rich full-color, this book will teach you how to develop a master plan for your yard. Many garden books explain how to grow specific flowers, care for shrubs, trees and lawn, and construct fences and hardscape. None take a homeowner from the beginning of the process: how to ask a professional the right questions, how to develop a budget, and how to identify and troubleshoot the challenges of their yard—drainage, erosion, privacy, noise, wind, too much or too little sun or shade. The Garden Bible will help you plan and problem solve so that your garden will grow, evolve, and be sustainable for years to come. Few books delve into landscaping style and cost-saving solutions as this insightful, beautifully illustrated book does. Barbara Ballinger, a well-known real estate, design and garden writer for more than four decades, and Michael Glassman, an award-winning landscape designer for over 35 years and author of seven books on landscape design and gardening, guide you through the process of designing your perfect garden. Showcasing the stories of how almost 30 home owners designed, budgeted and built their landscapes—The Garden Bible shows you that not only is a great garden beautiful to look at, but it’s also great for the soul.

A story relevant today as it will be tomorrow in the abuse of children from a man so sick he refuses to shoulder the blame and responsibilities. His lust and greed torments him to ignore the law and family responsibilities. A violent, sad story that could be true as one in four families suffers from abuse of some kind (National Health Service Publication 2013). Blame, written with accepted mannerisms blended with incidences of horror and disbelief, the theme is of abuse and domestic violence, anger, and hate, creating disappointments and anxiety in a family living with a man with bipolar a sickness of the mind who blames everyone apart from himself for his own actions. A fascinating read of textbook quality of family life beautifully observed with humour and sadness that will appeal to both adults and children.

It speaks to the heart and the mind and bears witness to our turbulent times' – Bernardine Evaristo How do you find hope and even joy in a world that is racist, sexist and facing climate crisis? How do you prepare your children for it, but also fill them with all the boundlessness and eccentricity that they deserve, and that life has to offer? In Brown Baby Nikesh Shukla explores themes of racism, feminism, parenting and our shifting ideas of home. With writing that will both fill and open your heart, this by turns, heartbreaking, hilariously funny and intensely relatable memoir is dedicated to the author’s two young daughters and is in remembrance of the grandmother they never got to meet. Through love, grief, food, fatherhood and the often-cluttered experiences that make us each who we are, Shukla shows how it’s possible to believe in hope.

Book excerpt: Find more at www.LostArtOfHandBalancing.com The Ultimate Guide to Bouncing, Twisting and Flipping on a Trampoline The trampoline is an integral tool in building your acrobatic abilities whether to assist in gymnastics, for competition, or just to learn how to flip and twist for yourself. Many people have used a trampoline at some point in their lives. But how many use it for more then just a little fun. Years ago I made the mistake of neglecting to practice on a trampoline when I was trying to improve my tumbling skills. I figured I only wanted to be able to do skills without any artificial aid. What I didn't realize was how the trampoline would help me to control my body better when I was in the air. Even if you don't aim to do full twisting flips and the like you can just learn a few intermediate skills on the trampoline like forward and back flips. Moves that anyone can learn. While you can just start bouncing on a trampoline trying a few moves at random, there hasn't been a set out progression to take you all the way from your first bounce up to more advanced skills until now. The Trampoline Handbook changes that. Inside you'll find each move described in complete detail, the proper steps for attaining the full move, common errors and how to correct them, plus several photos for each stunt. There are 50 complete trampoline stunts described in this way. All made step-by-step so that anyone can do them. Here's all the moves you'll be learning...
