Book excerpt: This early work by Robert E. Howard was originally published in 1934 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. 'The Garden of Fear' is a story in the James Allison series and tells the tale of a Texan who recalls his past lives as ancient heroes. Robert Ervin Howard was born in Peaster, Texas in 1906. During his youth, his family moved between a variety of Texan boomtowns, and Howard – a bookish and somewhat introverted child – was steeped in the violent myths and legends of the Old South. At fifteen Howard began to read the pulp magazines of the day, and to write more seriously. The December 1922 issue of his high school newspaper featured two of his stories, 'Golden Hope Christmas' and 'West is West'. In 1924 he sold his first piece – a short caveman tale titled 'Spear and Fang' – for $16 to the not-yet-famous Weird Tales magazine. Howard's most famous character, Conan the Cimmerian, was a barbarian-turned-King during the Hyborian Age, a mythical period of some 12,000 years ago. Conan featured in seventeen Weird Tales stories between 1933 and 1936 which is why Howard is now regarded as having spawned the 'sword and sorcery' genre. The Conan stories have since been adapted many times, most famously in the series of films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Do you want to correctly handle the worries and fears resulted from our problems or the possibilities of these problems to occur? Is it your desire to help your family, relatives and friends to solve their worries and fears? Our authors (Cliff Wong and Andrew Kwong) believe that in order to handle our worries and fears properly, we need to apply the principles of the Bible to our lives practically. Are you happy to have a book which helps you to study the Bible and psychology simultaneously? If so, this book is for you. This is the first book of the "Abundant Life Series," which is also a "biblical counseling" or "biblical psychology" series. This book contains so much profound knowledge on the biblical applications for dealing with worries and fears but we make it simple to read and easy to understand. Cliff Wong, an ordinary person, had so many extraordinary experiences in his life. God has given Cliff wisdom to compose biblical illustrative examples in this book which also make people laugh.

Book excerpt: What if you could discover a way to live your life without fear? What if a new vegetable that was just discovered could keep you from getting a deadly disease? Would you eat it? What if a new exercise developed would extend your life some twenty years? Would you try it? What if the information in The Fear App book would help you to remove those needless fears that run through our minds and keep us from following God’s will in our lives? Would you read it? The apps we have on our phones were developed to make a function or activity much easier or to assist us in some specific way. The Fear App book and the available study guide are similar dynamic tools. This book will help you identify the fears you may not even be aware of. The Lord has prepared ministry service for all of us to be involved in (Ephesians 2:10). If you allow fear to control service decisions, you’ll miss God’s best for your life and the blessings that come with following His will. In summary, this book is written in such a way that it’s an easy read with a very practical approach, and it isn’t too in depth or over the top; however, it gets right to the point of the fears all of us experience in our lives.

Structured as a historical-philosophical investigation of the concept of fear, this book is not a purely historical analysis of fear but also provides a broad brushwork rendition of the main concepts of fear as presented by selected philosophers and thinkers, and how they have approached its therapy.

Book excerpt: From bestselling author Jon Gordon comes a spiritual fable about the power of faith, hope, and love Meet Jay and Kay. They’re twins, and like many teenagers their age, they’re dealing with stress and anxiety. One day on their way to school, they have a nice conversation with their old family friend and youth soccer coach, Mr. Erwin, who shows them a special garden he created in his backyard. The garden serves as both a place and a metaphor for Mr. Erwin to share a powerful paradigm and practical strategies to help the twins overcome their fear, stress, and anxiety. The Garden is an enlightening and encouraging spiritual fable that reveals the 5 D’s that can sabotage us and a proven plan to help us overcome and win the battle in our mind. Rooted in Jon Gordon’s faith tradition, this fable is a different kind of book than his previous business fables. However, in his familiar trademark style, he takes a complex subject and simplifies it to help people take action and improve their lives. Everyone will struggle with fear, anxiety, or stress at some point in their lives, and everyone will have to overcome these challenges to create the life they were meant to live. Given that there are many contributing factors that influence how we think and feel, Jon wrote this book to share how the power of love, encouragement, truth, faith, and belief can be part of the solution. Having worked with countless leaders, companies, sports teams, professional athletes, and high school students, Jon Gordon infuses this life-changing story with thought-provoking ideas, practical strategies, and a framework to overcome fear with faith. Whether you are dealing with fear, stress, and anxiety yourself, have a family member that struggles, or are a mental health expert that works with clients, if any of the ideas in this book can be useful to you or the people you love and care about, then it’s worth a walk through The Garden with Jay, Kay, and Mr. Erwin to discover ways to persevere through life with the power of faith, hope, and love.

The first work is a treatise on the fear of God. He expounds two texts, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom,” from Proverbs 1:7, and, “Let us hear the conclusion of all: Fear God…” from Eccl. 12:13. He covers the nature and kinds of fear in general and more specifically and practically the fear of God. He shows the proper distinguishable symptoms of the fear of God, and essential ingredients that constitute true, genuine fear. Price gives a serious exhortation to fear God as well as the means by which the fear of God may be worked on and increased. This treatise brings practical insight into an extremely important subject that many Christians, both in his day and in ours, tend to forget. Also contained in the volume is his sermon “Man’s Delinquency Attended by Divine Justice Intermixed with Mercy.” This sermon was given to the House of Lords Assembled in Parliament, in the Abby Church at Westminster, on November 25, 1646, during a solemn day of their monthly fast. It is a deeply heartfelt sermon on Ezra 9:6-8 covering the responsibility of the Parliament dispensing justice coupled with mercy. This is not a scan or facsimile, has been updated in modern English for easy reading and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.
