Book excerpt: Swing Island Book I - Power to Survive, is about a new hero, Orehon Retnu and his personal Power. , It's about the interconnection and interaction of everyone's power and how each person's power can change the world. Orehon's story unfolds in the tree top forest of Teapottum, a truly amazing place with seven-hundred foot tall trees. The trees have massive trunks and branches so tightly intertwined that, if someone were to cut one down, it wouldn't fall because neighboring trees would hold it up. Although convoluted, and at all times precarious, the interconnecting network of branches makes natural walkways between the trees. Orehon, unlike almost everyone else, much prefers bypassing the twisting pathways in favor of swinging on vines directly from tree to tree, and there always seems to be a vine just right for getting Orehon where he wants to go. Growing up as a nomadic hunter, Orehon knows the ways of the forest, but not the ways of adults and their politics. Book I, by Richard Bennett-Woods, introduces us to Orehon, a boy who is plunged into a dangerous and confusing new world where he must find his personal power without losing his identity.

Book excerpt: “Nersesian’s extravagantly imagined dystopia relies—as did those in Philip Roth’s Plot Against America and Michael Chabon’s Yiddish Policemen’s Union—on an alternate, counterfactual history.”—The New York Times Book Review “Combining sci-fi space/time-warping, Unabomber-style political ranting and an overall air of goose-bump paranoia, this is one turbo-charged trip. . . . A sharp, strange read: Imagine William Burroughs and Philip K. Dick sharing a needle.”—Kirkus Reviews “Brilliant.”—Time Out New York Arthur Nersesian’s six previous novels (including The Fuck-Up, MTV/Pocket Books, which has sold over 100,000 copies) have focused on the tragicomedy of fin de siècle New York City. Here, in his boldest novel to date, Nersesian has broken through into a new landscape that at once fuses the real with the surreal, the psychological with the psychedelic. He lives in New York City.

Book excerpt: Two-time Edgar Award winner Rupert Holmes–author of the critically acclaimed Where the Truth Lies and creator of the Tony Award—winning musical whodunit The Mystery of Edwin Drood–now fuses gripping suspense and evocative music in an innovative novel of intrigue set in 1940, during the very heart of the Big Band era. Jazz saxophonist and arranger Ray Sherwood, touring with the Jack Donovan Orchestra, is haunted by personal tragedy. But when a beautiful and talented Berkeley student named Gail Prentice seeks his help in orchestrating a highly original composition called Swing Around the Sun, which is slated to premiere at the Golden Gate Exposition on the newly created Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay, Ray finds himself powerfully drawn to the beguiling coed. Within moments of first setting eyes on her, Ray also witnesses a horrifying sight: a young woman plunging to her death from the island’s emblematic Tower of the Sun. As the captivated Ray learns more about Gail and her unusual family, he finds himself trapped in a tightening coil of spiraling secrets– some personally devastating, all dangerous and deadly– in which from moment to moment nothing is certain, including Gail’s intentions toward him and her connection to the dead woman who made such a grisly impact upon the stunning island. As events speed toward a shocking climax, Ray must use all his physical daring and improvisational skills to unlock an ominous puzzle whose sinister implications stretch far beyond anything he could imagine.

Book excerpt: This book is the complete story of "Swing Island" and includes the two books “The founding of swing island” and “Swing Island Resort” George is an ordinary guy who inherits a fortune from an uncle he never knew existed. He also inherits his uncles beautiful assistant, Ellie pulls him into a billionaire lifestyle with romance, love, and sex, lots of sex. Living on his 'no clothes allowed' island with his, sexually liberated, staff he builds an exclusive swingers resort on the island. Along the way they have many new experiences and their love deepens so much that their souls seem to be as one. This culminates in a very special and unique wedding. 5 STAR REVIEW ---------------------- First, I want to thank Charlie Wish for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review. The Founding of Swing Island an erotic novella is the first book I have ever read by Charlie Wish. The author warned his readers up front that the book contained explicit details of sexual acts between consenting adults. There were acts between bisexuals, heterosexuals, and watersports (that part I was not a huge fan of). I have read a lot of erotica however this book by far has been the hottest I have read. Charlie’s storytelling, his eye for details of the story, the amazing cast of characters, and the plot was unlike any book I had ever read prior. He made you feel like you were a fly on the wall looking In on the action! The main character George had to be the luckiest man alive for the amazing fortune and experiences he was given. What I liked most about him was he had a heart of gold and wanted was best for his “family.” By Heidi Lynn on 30 April 2017

Book excerpt: It's History, The Bands, It's Legacy In this book the author gives the complete history of Swing music and Big Bands from it's beginning to it‘s place in the world today. It tells where it began. When it began. How it spread and grew to become America's number one popular music in the 1930’s and 40’s. The names and dates of the originators, the players, the bands, the composers, the arrangers, the side men, the hit songs, they are all here. It tells the story of Swing music’s role in radio, and the history of disc jockeys. It tells how Swing music helped the recording industry and how records helped the success of name bands. The book also explains Swing’s affect on the nation during it’s years of popularity. It tells how during the time of segregation, the youth of America cared little about the color of Swing bands and their musicians. It tells how during the great depression, the youth of that period became crazed with Swing similar to how Rock and Roll swept the youth during the 1960’s. It tells how those same young people, who would later be called the Greatest Generation, spread the music around the world while fighting WWII. It tells how and when Swing broke the color barrier in music despite living in a nation of segregation. Swing and Swing bands were instrumental in proving segregation had no place in popular music long before the laws of social justice came into being. The reader who loves music and/or history will find this book informative as well as entertaining. Enjoy.

He witnesses this firsthand, when he rediscovers an ancient blow gun poison, and struggles with possessing such power, even though it may be his only hope. In Book I, Orehon fights against a kidnapping ring directly. In Book II, Orehon becomes entangled with the individual who financed that kidnapping ring. Now, in Book III, Orehon finds himself locked in a dual to the death with the evil Chief that sat a top of the kidnapping ring pyramid, and is now threatening his world, the people he loves, and his way of life. So join Orehon as he threads his way through the convoluted and precarious pathways of the Teapottum tree tops, and the even more convoluted and precarious ways of forest politics.

While the election produced the greatest turnout in American history and the highest percentage turnout in 60 years, the election still came down to a handful of swing states that ultimately decided the election. In their third edition of Presidential Swing States, Rafael Jacob and David Schultz examine the 2020 presidential election, keying in on the few critical states that actually decided the election and why. With cases studies written by prominent political scientists who are experts on these swing states, Presidential Swing States also explains why some states were swing states but no longer are, why some continue to be swing states, and what states beyond 2020 may be the future swing states that decide the presidency. The book contains in-depth case studies of the swing-states and swing-counties that decide presidential elections in the United States. Students in classes on American Politics and Government, Parties, Campaigns and Elections, State Politics, and the Presidency will all be well-served by the analyses in this volume, as will journalists reporting on presidential elections, and the general public.
