They went as guests of the Union Pacific and were escorted by an Official of the company. Several of these gentlemen recorded their impressions and experiences, and in some instances embodied in their review a a critical and comprehensive account of their findings which form a valuable contribution to science; and it has been thought proper to make these papers public on account of their intrinsic worth and interest.
