Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book to examine the controversial Qur'anic phrase which divides Christianity and Islam. According to the majority of modern Muslims and Christians, the Qur'an denies the crucifixion of Jesus, and with it, one of the most sacred beliefs of Christianity. However, it is only mentioned in one verse - 'They did not kill him and they did not crucify him, rather, it only appeared so to them' - and contrary to popular belief, its translation has been the subject of fierce debate among Muslims for centuries. This innovative work is the first book devoted to the issue, delving deeply into largely ignored Arabic sources, which suggest that the origins of the conventional translation may lie within the Christian Church. Arranged along historical lines, and covering various Muslim schools of thought, from Sunni to Sufi, "The Crucifixion and the Qur'an" unravels the crucial dispute that separates the World's two principal faiths.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book traces the history of early seventeenth-century Portuguese Sephardic traders who settled in two communities on Senegal's Petite Côte. There, they lived as public Jews, under the spiritual guidance of a rabbi sent to them by the newly established Portuguese Jewish community in Amsterdam. In Senegal, the Jews were protected from agents of the Inquisition by local Muslim rulers. The Petite Côte communities included several Jews of mixed Portuguese-African heritage as well as African wives, offspring, and servants. The blade weapons trade was an important part of their commercial activities. These merchants participated marginally in the slave trade but fully in the arms trade, illegally supplying West African markets with swords. This blade weapons trade depended on artisans and merchants based in Morocco, Lisbon, and northern Europe and affected warfare in the Sahel and along the Upper Guinea Coast. After members of these communities moved to the United Provinces around 1620, they had a profound influence on relations between black and white Jews in Amsterdam. The study not only discovers previously unknown Jewish communities but by doing so offers a reinterpretation of the dynamics and processes of identity construction throughout the Atlantic world.

This book was released on 2013-07-29 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Vivid and moving. . . . [Tells] a story all but lost in most civil rights histories.”—Bill Marvel, Dallas Morning News It was the final speech of a long day, August 28, 1963, when hundreds of thousands gathered on the Mall for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. In a resounding cadence, Martin Luther King Jr. lifted the crowd when he told of his dream that all Americans would join together to realize the founding ideal of equality. The power of the speech created an enduring symbol of the march and the larger civil rights movement. King’s speech still inspires us fifty years later, but its very power has also narrowed our understanding of the march. In this insightful history, William P. Jones restores the march to its full significance. The opening speech of the day was delivered by the leader of the march, the great trade unionist A. Philip Randolph, who first called for a march on Washington in 1941 to press for equal opportunity in employment and the armed forces. To the crowd that stretched more than a mile before him, Randolph called for an end to segregation and a living wage for every American. Equal access to accommodations and services would mean little to people, white and black, who could not afford them. Randolph’s egalitarian vision of economic and social citizenship is the strong thread running through the full history of the March on Washington Movement. It was a movement of sustained grassroots organizing, linked locally to women’s groups, unions, and churches across the country. Jones’s fresh, compelling history delivers a new understanding of this emblematic event and the broader civil rights movement it propelled.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As you the reader come to the end of this workbook, we believe that we will have whet your spiritual appetite, stirred up your God-given anointing, and will have caused you to hunger and thirst after righteousness, and we will do this by first identifying the main weaknesses or the weakest link in the Body of Christ in North America, which is clearly the Lack of Wisdom, Know-How-Technology, and Lack of Right instruction in five different areas. #1 - Understanding God's One Original Kingdom and Governmental Structure (Gal. 3:15-18). See chart, p. 17. #2 - Learning about the Lord's One Original Process of True Worship. See chart, p. 17. #3 - Understanding The Endtime Extreme Kingdom Gospel of Christ and Him Crucified Referred to in Matt. 24:14 and see chart, p. 94. #4 - Understanding the Royal Melchizedek Priesthood, or How to Live as a New Covenant King-Priest (1 Pet. 2:9, Heb. 7:25 and Heb. 8:6 NLT). #5 - The fifth missing how to wisdom is the Divine Wisdom of using Christ's One Act of Righteousness to push us into a 24/7 Right Covenant Relationship with God referring to Rom. 5:18 NLT. Right now, if you the reader can honestly say, "Bishop, or Chaplain Walker, all this is new stuff to me because my pastor, spiritual leader, or mentor never discussed or taught any of this stuff." If you are presently thinking or feeling any thoughts similar to these, we feel quite certain and confident that the Holy Spirit of God put this workbook or manual in your hands right now for you to receive more understanding, eat it, and consume it.
