Book excerpt: In the earliest days of the church, followers of Jesus embraced five core spiritual gifts—apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers—and the world was set on fire as a result. Over the past two thousand years, however, some of these gifts have been neglected or set aside, and we’ve forgotten what we’re capable of. Now, in Primal Fire, Neil Cole shares the surprising truth about the five gifts of Jesus—what they mean, how they reflect Christ, and the remarkable power and synergy that comes when we all work together to ignite the church’s full potential and passion. Whether you’re a church leader who wants to equip your members to grow spiritually, or someone who wants to better understand your own contribution to the body of Christ, it’s time to reignite the Primal Fire and become the gifts that Christ intended for us to be.

I have dedicated over twenty years of my life in leadership, and have imparted in others what God has given me. I have inspired all types of people to rise up and do something in life. My intention is to make the difference in loving God, sharing that love of God, and loving my neighbor how God has commanded. I just want to be a vessel in the hands of the Lord and say to you that being happy is not difficult. Let me share something with you, I would rather be practical and communicate something from God, then to be eloquent and confuse you and lead you into error. I will make it simple, and fun, just how I am, a young pastor that rejoices in life and believes in the calling that God has given him. Dear reader, with just a few words, that is my intention. At this moment in life, exists a great necessity in this world, I am speaking of the great need for model leaders. Model leaders that our generation is willing to follow or be inspired by them, so that the potential of every individual may be projected until achieving the purpose of why God has brought us into this world for.

Ephesians 4:12 says they are bestowed for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry, and to edify the body of Christ. However, these three objectives are best understood in the context of God’s purpose. His purpose provides the “why” for understanding the five-fold ministry gifts or the gifts of Christ. From before the foundation of the world, the Father predetermined spiritual blessings in Christ for all humanity. In essence, His purpose is one of unity. The blessings outlined in Ephesians Chapter 1 says that He chose humanity to be His sons, who would share His very nature and be like Him. In short, the Father’s simply wanted a family born of His nature, who would reflect His character, and on whom He could bestow an eternal inheritance. Therefore, the gifts of Christ exist in accordance with this purpose. Indeed, each gift has individual responsibilities but collectively, they serve to bring the entire body of Christ into maturity—a unified body that manifests the Father’s glory or character. The gifts exist to fulfill the purpose that the Father predetermined from before the foundation of the world. This book discusses all these elements in detail and brings the Father’s purpose for the church into perspective in relation to the gifts.

Book excerpt: Surprisingly Supernatural: A Practical Guide to Releasing the Gifts of the Spirit teaches believers to receive the gifts of the Spirit, and then how to release the spiritual gifts of prophecy, healings and miracles, discernment, and binding or driving out demons. Then the believers are encouraged to bring in the harvest. When believers learn how to release the gifts of the Spirit that is what the Bride of Christ is to do at the end of the age, and then she will enter into the wedding banquet (see Matt. 24:14; 25:9-10). You Will Learn That you are supposed to ask for the Holy Spirit, and ask for the gifts of the Spirit, and being continually filled by the Spirit was what the first disciples experienced, and they were the first ones called Christians. That if you will learn the conditions required for you to hear Gods voice, then you will be able to prophecy. That if you will learn the keys to healing, then you will begin to see the sick healed when you lay your hands on them. That when you ask for the gift of discernment, then you will begin to discern demons and the defilement that is around you. Then you can cast out those demons. That leylines are spiritual highways that demons travel on over the earth, and you will learn how to clean them off. That when you release the gifts of the Spirit, you will easily be able to show nonbelievers that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is the Savior of the World. That the Bride of Christ is to be continually filled by the Spirit until she is clothed in the armor of light and clothed in Jesus Christ, then she will bring glory to the Lord (see Rom. 13:12, 14)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the years of my Christian education ministry, in a number of different churches, I have been troubled by the lack of use of spiritual gifts in the church body. To most churches’ credit, they occasionally mention them and acknowledge that they exist, but beyond that, spiritual gifts are the orphans and lepers of the Christian walk. If you were to walk into the average church in America today and ask the first person you met to tell you about their spiritual gifts and how God is using them in their ministry, most likely they couldn’t tell you much. My interest in spiritual gifts started when I first got involved in discipleship years ago. The goal was to produce and reproduce mature believers that could minister effectively in the power of the Holy Spirit and bring forth fruit. I believe that inevitably, the discipleship process must somehow incorporate the use of the spiritual gifts mentioned in Romans, Corinthians, and Ephesians. The question that everyone struggles with is how? To this end, I decided to write what I call a transferable teaching manual on spiritual gifts. Anyone who has studied spiritual gifts has struggled with many of the following issues. Where does the Bible talk about spiritual gifts? What are the specific spiritual gifts I could possibly have? If all the spiritual gifts are not for today, what is the rationale? What is the explanation of each gift, so I can see if I might have it? How can I know I have a spiritual gift? These and many other reasons are a great deal of the reason why very few Christians ever truly identify their spiritual gifts and use them effectively in ministry. This study also is a guide for believers to review and refresh their use and understanding of spiritual gifts.
