Book excerpt: Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers is a young adult novel about seventeen-year-old Richie Perry, a Harlem teenager who volunteers for the Army when unable to afford college and is sent to fight in the Vietnam War. Perry and his platoon—Peewee, Lobel, Johnson, and Brunner—come face-to-face with the Vietcong, the harsh realities of war, and some dark truths about themselves. A thoughtful young man with a gift for writing and love of basketball, Perry learns to navigate among fellow soldiers under tremendous stress and struggles with his own fear as he sees things he’ll never forget: the filling of body bags, the deaths of civilians and soldier friends, the effects of claymore mines, the fires of Napalm, and jungle diseases like Nam Rot. Available as an e-book for the first time on the 25th anniversary of its publication, Fallen Angels has been called one of the best Vietnam War books ever and one of the great coming-of-age Vietnam War stories. Filled with unforgettable characters, not least Peewee Gates of Chicago who copes with war by relying on wisecracks and dark humor, Fallen Angels “reaches deep into the minds of soldiers” and makes “readers feel they are there, deep in the heart of war.” Fallen Angels has won numerous awards and honors, including the Coretta Scott King Award, an ALA Best Book for Young Adults, a Booklist Editors Choice, and a School Library Journal Best Book. Fallen Angels was #16 on the American Library Association’s list of the most frequently challenged books of 1990–2000 for its realistic depiction of war and those who fight in wars.

This book was released on 2014-06-01 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph has set itself the goal to examine, outline, elucidate, and supplement the existing body of knowledge concerning a theme from patristic and medieval theology recalled in 1953 by Marie-Dominique Chenu, and that is the assertion that man was created as a replacement for fallen angels (Yves Congar: créature de remplacement; Louis Bouyer: ange de remplacement). The study first shows that the idea of man having being created to take the place of fallen angels was introduced by St. Augustine and developed by other church fathers. It then identifies the typical contexts in which the subject was raised by authors of the early Middle Ages, but goes on to focus on the discussion that developed during the twelfth century (Anselm of Canterbury, the school of Laon, Rupert of Deutz, Honorius of Autun), which represents the high point of the theme under investigation, culminating in the assertion that man is an "original" being, created for its own sake, for whom God created the world – a world which together with, and through, man is destined for the heavenly Jerusalem. The question as to whether man would have been created if the angels had not sinned (cur homo) bears a clear similarity to a further controversy, the origins of which also go back to the twelfth century, and that is whether the Son of God would have become incarnate if man had not sinned (cur Deus homo). Next, the book sheds light on how the subject begins to gradually fade away through the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, both within monastic tradition, which nonetheless held onto Augustine's motif, and within scholastic theology, which asserted that man was created for his own sake. The conclusion summarizes the findings and points to the surprisingly contemporary relevance of the foregoing reflections, particularly in relation to the critique that the Swiss philosopher and theologian Romano Amerio († 1997) offers concerning a statement in the pastoral constitution of the Second Vatican Council (Gaudium et spes 24), according to which man is "the only creature on earth that God willed for itself".

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People are suffering here in America and abroad. Global warming, mass conflicts, increased domestic and foreign murders, governmental corruptions, starving nations, global wars coupled with global warming, the consciousness of the men attempting to turn into women, and the consciousness of the woman falling from her place to be as a man, all of these are threats against our survival of tomorrow. Wars are now fought with computerized drones overseas. Drugs, gangs, killings, police shooting coupled with political protection are ravishing the land of equal rights under the symbol of the eagle. These are biblical signs of the realities of the problems and conditions that should tell us all something is very wrong. The major questions are, can the human race avoid self-destruction? And if so, does our salvation rest in relying on a higher power to insure future generations have a world that’s worth living in under the laws of man? For too long we the human family have collectively functioned like lost children, but, some as prodigal sons, even as fallen angels. However, our earthly existence isn’t random coincidences, for it is not, all of these conditions of the man that’s upon this earth are a one chance to learn and understand what it is to live in equality under the original orders and commandments of God the creator and those of Jesus Christ the savior of all men. Personally, I believe that God is humanity’s best hope for survival. The book’s title The Fallen Angel Man – Egairram, Not Marriage, essentially refers to mankind’s disconnect from his creator. Within its pages you see vivid examples of, among other things, our moral decadences, and I’d dare say that only a willingly blind person would fail to see the consequences all around us from a severed spiritual bond. So whether you believe in divine solutions, or you prefer a more “common sense” approach to fixing society’s problems in playing eternal death roulette, feel free to criticize these books. Even disagree with some of the subject material as presented. These books explain the fallen consciousness of the man and that of those of the billions of rebellious and fallen angels that turned against the perfect laws and orders of God. But, don’t be surprised to find the pages inside stroking your curiosity to read on into these six volumes. A.M. Brown II

Created by Korporate Comics in a flash of money-grubbing cynicism appalling even by their standards, Angelman's powers (which include empathy and the ability to be a good listener prove less than adequate to deal with the ever-sinister threat of insane plastic surgeon villain Gender-Bender, or for that matter the fickleness of fashion, a disastrous movie adaptation and a desperate 'Reboot' attempt by Korporte. That is the premise of the Book of Enoch, a text cherished by the Essenes, early Jews, and Christians but later condemned by both rabbis and Church Fathers. Elizabeth Clare Prophet examines the controversy surrounding this book and sheds new light on Enoch’s forbidden mysteries. She demonstrates that Jesus and the apostles studied the Book of Enoch and tells why Church Fathers suppressed its teaching that angels could incarnate in human bodies. Fallen Angels and the Origins of Evil takes you back to the primordial drama of Good and Evil, when the first hint of corruption entered a pristine world—earth. Contains Richard Laurence’s translation of the Book of Enoch, all the other Enoch texts (including the Book of the Secrets of Enoch) and biblical parallels."

Book excerpt: Edgar Award Finalist: The hunt for a vanished singer leads a detective into the depths of the occult in this “terrific” novel (Stephen King). Big-band frontman Johnny Favorite was singing for the troops when a Luftwaffe fighter squadron strafed the bandstand, killing the crowd and leaving the singer near death. The army returned him to a private hospital in upstate New York, leaving him to live out his days as a vegetable while the world forgot him. But Louis Cyphre never forgets. Cyphre had a contract with the singer, stipulating payment upon Johnny’s death—payment that will be denied as long as Johnny clings to life. When Cyphre hires private investigator Harry Angel to find Johnny at the hospital, Angel learns that the singer has disappeared. It is no ordinary missing-person’s case. Everyone he questions dies soon after, as Angel’s investigation ensnares him in a bizarre tangle of black magic, carnival freaks, and grisly voodoo. When the sinister Louis Cyphre begins appearing in Angel’s dreams, the detective fears for his life, his sanity, and his soul. Falling Angel was the basis for the Alan Parker film Angel Heart, starring Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro, and Lisa Bonet. This ebook features an illustrated biography of William Hjortsberg including rare photos from the author’s personal collection.

A year in the making, this book's sixteen paintings and nearly ninety drawings bring to life Petar's experiences on this journey and secrets uncovered, going back to ancient times. He shares stories of new discoveries that free giants from the murky abyss of myth and a forgotten past. Told in three stages, The Book of Giants includes the illustrated stories The Giants Are Coming, recounting a dynamic clash that lasted one hundred years; The Little Kingdom, where a giant befriends a nation of humans and becomes their adamant protector against ferocious invaders; The Northern Giants, who embrace the warrior spirit through countless battles; Giant Velles, the story of ignorance and how the strength of goodness perseveres; and The Great Forest, wherein the author discovers little creatures called the keppetz and relates his experiences spent with ogres while on his quest to meet the Golden One and to determine the purpose of his journey. Through the strength of his own power, he discovers his blessings, his limitations and finally his personal myth. Furthermore, you will discover why giants made a push into the underground, followed by their exodus and deliverance to a new land. You'll also learn why the myth of giants is still alive, why their time spent with humans remains elusive and why giants prefer to remain hidden in their world. Join Petar Meseldzija on his journey of discovery.

Book excerpt: After narrowly surviving his last operation, Gabriel Allon, the wayward son of Israeli intelligence, has taken refuge behind the walls of the Vatican, where he is restoring one of Caravaggio's greatest masterpieces. But early one morning he is summoned to St. Peter's Basilica by Monsignor Luigi Donati, the all-powerful private secretary to His Holiness Pope Paul VII. The body of a beautiful woman lies broken beneath Michelangelo's magnificent dome. The Vatican police suspect suicide, though Gabriel believes otherwise. So, it seems, does Donati. But the monsignor is fearful that a public inquiry might inflict another scandal on the Church, and so he calls upon Gabriel to quietly pursue the truth—with one caveat. "Rule number one at the Vatican," Donati said. "Don't ask too many questions." Gabriel learns that the dead woman had uncovered a dangerous secret—a secret that threatens a global criminal enterprise that is looting timeless treasures of antiquity and selling them to the highest bidder. But there is more to this network than just greed. A mysterious operative is plotting an act of sabotage that will plunge the world into a conflict of apocalyptic proportions. . . . An intoxicating blend of art, intrigue, and history, The Fallen Angel moves swiftly from the cloistered chambers of the Vatican to the glamorous ski slopes of St. Moritz to the graceful avenues of Berlin and Vienna—and, finally, to a shocking climax beneath the world's most sacred and contested parcel of land. Each setting in this extraordinary novel is rendered with the care of an Old Master, as are the spies, lovers, priests, and thieves who inhabit its pages. It is a story of faith and of the destructive power of secrets—and an all too timely reminder that those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Book excerpt: Angels are real, some of them fell and became known as fallen angels. They came from Heaven to the earth, there is proof in the bible and in history about what they did. The bible speaks of their offspring as giants, world history speaks of the offspring of "the gods" as giants. Is their a difference? The "sons of Seth" doctrine teaches that the "sons of God" mentioned in Genesis 6: were merely regular humans i.e. the "righteous line of Seth" who produced the giants. I will include the verse for those not familiar with Genesis 6 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. The information presented in this book reveals the falseness of the "sons of Seth" doctrine and sets the record straight about who the "sons of God" who "took wives" from the daughters of men actually were...And now, an in depth preview of the rest of the book...The Bible speaks of giants using names like Nephilim, Rephaim, Zamzumim, Zuzim, Emim and others. History speaks of giants using names like Si Te Cah, Annunaki, Aloadai, Formorian and others. The Bible describes giants as at least 13 feet tall and even much taller having 6 fingers and 6 toes on each hand and foot. History describes giants as at least 13 feet and much taller, skeletons of races of giants have been unearthed having 6 fingers and 6 toes on each hand and foot and many of them with double rows of teeth. The bible speaks of the "sons of God" the binai ha Elohim mating with women and producing giants and "mighty men" as you will see from this book the bible is clear that these "sons of God" were angels/celestial beings. Ancient cultures like Sumeria, Greece, Rome, Africa and others also speak of celestial beings mating with women and producing giants and super human men. The goal of this book is to confirm the bible through history and to confirm history through the bible. The bible is history, what has happened in ancient and recent times is also history. The various comparisons you will see in this book will show clearly that the giants and fallen angels of the bible are present throughout world history under different names. Moreover, this book will show the undeniable association between the gods/celestial beings, fallen angels and giants of ancient times.
