Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nasreen felt a shiver of excitement run down his spine as he recalled the promised prophesy. Time seemed to slip by, but it was not important. His sight seemed to sense the grounds of the Fire Temple, noticed the night owl flying to capture its mammalian meal, the shooting star that briefly streaked the night air, the desert moths attracted to the light of his candle. He sensed the wick melting as the candle grew smaller and smaller. The wind blew briefly, raising a small dust cloud. And then it stopped and the usual sounds of the night resumed. In his lifetime, he witnessed the lunar eclipsing of Jupiter in the constellation of Aries on numerous occasions. But to have all the ruling planets present and then having Mars, normally a maleficent planet, supporting the ruling planets, was truly extraordinary. On that one day, all the heavenly hosts had aligned signifying the birth of a great king. On that one day, High Priest Nasreen, the Zaratoshtrutema, the highest title bestowed on a Zoroastrian priest dedicated to the worship of Ahura Mazda and a devout believer of the words uttered by the prophet Zarathustra, wondered. Could this mysterious newborn king be the saoshyant, the one who will set the apocalypse in motion that will purge the world of death and destruction?

Book excerpt: At the start of the gay rights movement in 1969, evangelicalism's leading voices cast a vision for gay people who turn to Jesus. It was C.S. Lewis, Billy Graham, Francis Schaeffer and John Stott who were among the most respected leaders within theologically orthodox Protestantism. We see with them a positive pastoral approach toward gay people, an approach that viewed homosexuality as a fallen condition experienced by some Christians who needed care more than cure. With the birth and rise of the ex-gay movement, the focus shifted from care to cure. As a result, there are an estimated 700,000 people alive today who underwent conversion therapy in the United States alone. Many of these patients were treated by faith-based, testimony-driven parachurch ministries centered on the ex-gay script. Despite the best of intentions, the movement ended with very troubling results. Yet the ex-gay movement died not because it had the wrong sex ethic. It died because it was founded on a practice that diminished the beauty of the gospel. Yet even after the closure of the ex-gay umbrella organization Exodus International in 2013, the ex-gay script continues to walk about as the undead among us, pressuring people like me to say, "I used to be gay, but I'm not gay anymore. Now I'm just same-sex attracted." For orthodox Christians, the way forward is a path back to where we were forty years ago. It is time again to focus with our Neo-Evangelical fathers on care--not cure--for our non-straight sisters and brothers who are living lives of costly obedience to Jesus. With warmth and humor as well as original research, Still Time to Care will chart the path forward for our churches and ministries in providing care. It will provide guidance for the gay person who hears the gospel and finds themselves smitten by the life-giving call of Jesus. Woven throughout the book will be Richard Lovelace’s 1978 call for a "double repentance" in which gay Christians repent of their homosexual sins and the church repents of its homophobia--putting on display for all the power of the gospel.

In True Worshipers, a seasoned pastor and musician guides readers toward a more engaging, transformative, and biblically faithful understanding of the worship God is seeking. True worship is an activity rooted in the grace of the gospel that affects every area of our lives. And while worship is more than just singing, God’s people gathering in his presence to lift their voices in song is an activity that is biblically based, historically rooted, and potentially life-changing. Thoroughly based in Scripture and filled with practical guidance, this book connects Sunday worship to the rest of our lives—helping us live as true worshipers each and every day.

Book excerpt: A young boy named Abner lies alone under the stars wondering about his future and what impact his life will have on the world. He can't possibly imagine the plans God has for him and his family, plans that will affect thousands and shape the future of the world. "The Faithful" takes the reader along with Abner and his family as they embark on an epic adventure to find a new home in a strange new land. Along their journey they will witness untold wonders, encounter fantastic creatures, battle ruthless villains, and with the help of angels, struggle against the powerful forces of hell itself, intent on destroying them. The reader is front and center as the spiritual war between good and evil rages in the temporal affairs of men. Intense battles will be fought. Heroes of faith will be revealed. In the end the faithful will stand. Terrence L. Rotering is known for his action-packed novel "STAND" which portrays the eternal struggle between good and evil in both the physical and spiritual realms. "STAND", the second book in the Trinian saga, is described by readers online as thrilling, uplifting, and meaningful Christian fiction; an intriguing story using a C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and Frank Peretti style, having truth solidly imprinted in its DNA. "The Faithful" successfully follows suit, laying the foundation for the Trinian series with an epic serving of mounting suspense, relentless action, and heroic conviction; intent on leaving the reader satisfied, edified, and strengthened in the faith. Terrence Rotering serves his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at his local church and in his community. He and his wife Theresa live in Colorado with their two children, Tanner and Thomas. "The Faithful" is the first book in the Chronicles of Trinian series.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on an extension of the traditional Jewish theological interpretations of the texts of Daniel 7 and Isaiah 53, we can develop the perceptual lens that Jesus’ role was to singularly personify the collective nation of Israel and to not only relive their history, but to carry out their ultimate destiny in a microcosm. The Jewish prophets spoke of a death and resurrection experience that Israel would have to undergo, and these took place in both the bondage and slavery in Egypt (death) and the subsequent restoration to the promised land (resurrection), and a second time in the exile to Babylon (death) and then restoration to the Holy Land and re-consecration of the temple by the Persians (resurrection). But this death and resurrection experience was actualized and finalized by Jesus himself, who singularly represented and personified his people, Israel. This act became the literal fulfillment of the prophetic Scriptures of the Old Testament and conclusively restored the House of Israel to their promised place based on the original covenant as extended to Abraham and his descendants.

Massive population movements of the last century have radically challenged our study and practice of mission. Where the church once rallied to go out into “the regions beyond,” Christian mission is currently required to respond and adapt to “missions around.” As a result, leaders in this field have been developing diaspora missiology to provide a missiological framework for understanding and participating in God’s redemptive mission among peoples living outside their places of origin. In this volume, experts in diaspora missiology from across the globe analyze the development of missions to migrants and add to our understanding of the contemporary church’s opportunities and responsibilities for mission amongst diaspora groups.

As she becomes increasingly discouraged, her aunt shares the story of Leisel's grandfather during World War II and the struggle he faced between returning to Lancaster or being with the woman he loved. Peace and a vision for the future are difficult to find, and when Nick leaves Pennsylvania for a completely new life, Leisel is faced with impossible choices. Will she stay in Lancaster, close to her family and the traditions of her past? Or learn from her grandfather's story and embrace a life of love and service in an uncertain future?

Book excerpt: Profound reflections on the cross that help you to meditate on and marvel at the sacrificial love of Jesus. This book can be used as a devotional, especially during Lent and Easter. These profound reflections on the cross from David Mathis, author of The Christmas We Didn’t Expect, will help you to meditate on and marvel at Jesus’ life, sacrificial death, and spectacular resurrection-enabling you to treasure anew who Jesus is and what he has done. Many of us are so familiar with the Easter story that it becomes easy to miss subtle details and difficult to really enjoy its meaning. This book will help you to pause and marvel at Jesus, whose now-glorified wounds are a sign of his unfailing love and the decisive victory that he has won: “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) This book can be used as a devotional. The chapters on Holy Week make it especially helpful during the Lent season and at Easter.
