Download or read book Motion Picture Directing: The Facts and Theories of the Newest Art written by Peter Milne and published by Good Press. This book was released on 2021-05-19 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A motion picture is an incredibly effective medium for delivering drama, specifically in the evocation of emotion. This art is highly complicated, requiring contributions from nearly all the other arts and countless technical skills. Appearing at the end of the 19th century, this new art form became one of the most famous and influential media of the 20th century and after. 'Motion Picture Directing' is a helpful piece by American screenwriter Peter Milne to reduce the complexity of this art by making several things easy to understand. The author writes wonderfully about the developments, the abilities, characteristics, and essential qualities after spending nearly ten years in the motion picture industry as a critic and writer. He gives valuable insights into the various methods and techniques that were used during that time in the field. It proves helpful to budding directors and the skilled ones as an introduction to the history of directing.

Download or read book Process Engineering written by Norman P. Lieberman and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-04-10 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is not your average technical book! Using a humorous and easy-to-understand approach to solving common process engineering problems, this unique volume is the go-to guide for any veteran or novice engineer in the plant, office, or classroom. The "characters" walk the reader through every problem and solution step-by-step, through dialogues that literally occur every day in process plants around the world. With over half a century of experience and many books, videos, and seminars to his credit, Norm Lieberman is well-known all over the world and has helped countless companies and engineers through issues with equipment, processes, and training. This is the first time that this knowledge has appeared in a format like this, quite unlike anything ever published before in books on process engineering. This is a must-have for any engineer working in process engineering.

Book excerpt: In today's competitive, always-on global marketplace, businesses need to be able to make better decisions more quickly. And they need to be able to change those decisions immediately in order to adapt to this increasingly dynamic business environment. Whether it is a regulatory change in your industry, a new product introduction by a competitor that your organization needs to react to, or a new market opportunity that you want to quickly capture by changing your product pricing. Decisions like these lie at the heart of your organization's key business processes. In this IBM® RedpaperTM publication, we explore the benefits of identifying and documenting decisions within the context of your business processes. We describe a straightforward approach for doing this by using a business process and decision discovery tool called IBM Blueworks LiveTM, and we apply these techniques to a fictitious example from the auto insurance industry to help you better understand the concepts. This paper was written with a non-technical audience in mind. It is intended to help business users, subject matter experts, business analysts, and business managers get started discovering and documenting the decisions that are key to their company's business operations.

Book excerpt: In Legal Strategy, well-known professor, Paul J. Zwier focuses on pre-litigation, transactional, and negotiation processes, and describes each in a way that brings together the basics of each discipline. Zwier describes how, once a lawyer determines the end goal the client desires, the lawyer must explore the facts and procedural alternatives most likely to get there. By getting lawyers to focus in a continual exercise of deliberating on what matters most, Zwier sets forth three steps in legal strategy: fact investigation, client counseling, and implementations of the client's decision.

Book Synopsis Defendant Participation in the Criminal Process by : Abenaa Owusu- Bempah
Download or read book Defendant Participation in the Criminal Process written by Abenaa Owusu- Bempah and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-10-04 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Requirements for the defendant to actively participate in the English criminal process have been increasing in recent years such that the defendant can now be penalised for their non-cooperation. This book explores the changes to the defendant’s role as a participant in the criminal process and the ramifications of penalising a defendant’s non-cooperation, particularly its effect on the adversarial system. The book develops a normative theory which proposes that the criminal process should operate as a mechanism for calling the state to account for its accusations and request for official condemnation and punishment of the accused. It goes on to examine the limitations placed on the privilege against self-incrimination, the curtailment of the right to silence, and the defendant’s duty to disclose the details of his or her case prior to trial. The book shows that, by placing participatory requirements on defendants and penalising them for their non-cooperation, a system of obligatory participation has developed. This development is the consequence of pursuing efficient fact-finding with little regard for principles of fairness or the rights of the defendant.
