Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No Test Without a Testimony I would like to share some experiences that brought me closer than I had ever imagined to God. I would like to take this opportunity to show you how grief makes God clearer. Throughout this book I hope you share in the knowledge and experience that I gained from the collapse of the entirety of my world. In 2015 death knocked on my door once again. I felt so hopeless and despondent. it felt new. Like I had never lost anyone before even though I had. The beauty of it all is, l experienced Gods grace and mercy through it all. When David said, Goodness and mercy will follow me, he was right. In my struggle with grief, I learned to let go and allow the peace of God to take over my bleeding heart. Pain and sorrow were real, and no one could bear the weight of grief alone and survive. I couldnt carry my loss alone; l had to depend on God and his presence. I let him in my life, and it was like having a friend walking with me through a dark and dangerous tunnel. He carried me through a broken heart, through streams of tears and fear, and then through a safe haven of peace and joy. We walked together on the path to recovery while l talked with him and he talked back to me. I grew to trust him and became mature and able to love him through all the seasons of life. I know without a shadow of doubt that in my time of sorrow, he was there to comfort me and to lift my soul. I hope to comfort you as l share with you what has worked for me.

Book excerpt: Grief Light is for anyone who is grieving. From her personal perspective on the light side of grief, the author illuminates many of the universal truths of grief through practical, spiritual illustrations and examples from ordinary life. Written in an informal, approachable style, each brief meditation offers grief insight through the rich imagery of stories and scenes from everyday experience, supported by Scripture and a prayer idea. Through these positive, uplifting reflections on life and love and death, you will discern how your faith can grow as a gift of grief through the steadfast love and faithfulness of God. When you read these almost devotionals, you may think, Oh yes, that happened to me or Now I understand more about what it is Im feeling or I thought I was the only one whod ever experienced that or Theres really some plain talk here about human nature. Grief Light also addresses some of the more contemporary, yet seldom fully acknowledged issues that surround grief, including collective/communal grief, incomplete grief, compound grief, and complicated grief. The hope is that the heart and spiritual truths of Grief Light will guide you toward a better understanding of your grief and direct you away from the darkness, toward the light of new life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fr. Benedict Groeschel, best-selling author and beloved spiritual teacher, writer, and psychologist, wrote this latest book for all those who have suffered great sorrow or catastrophe in their lives and for those close to such persons, who share their deep suffering. Sorrow comes into the life of every person, but only into the lives of some people comes catastrophe. These are disasters that occur either suddenly or with terrible effects, like the death of a child. They can be natural disasters like hurricanes, or they can be horrific accidents or tragedies caused by people's evil acts. They can also arise from wars and situations of great tension. Fr. Benedict has written previously about faith and sorrow (Arise from ; Darkness) and seeks in this book to study catastrophes of all different kinds in relationship to our faith in divine providence, in God's goodness and mercy, and finally in the light of Christ's suffering and death. Christianity is the only religion which speaks of a God who suffered a terrible catastropheùcrucifixion and death. Therefore, the Christian must, in the midst of catastrophe, find his way to the foot of the cross, and there he will find answers which cannot be given by any other religious faith. All religions attempt to deal with catastrophe, all confront the mystery of suffering and of evil. Christianity invites you to share the burden of your catastrophe with the person who is our Savior and Redeemer, one who Himself endured great pain and sorrow, the son of God, Jesus Christ.

Book excerpt: "God Through the Lens of Grief" is a poignant memoir detailing my transformative first-year journey as a young, pregnant widow with two young children. At the age of 32, my husband's sudden passing from a brain hemorrhage left me grappling with profound loss and despair. In this book, I candidly share my raw emotions and vulnerabilities experienced throughout the grieving process. Struggling with my beliefs as a Christian and how God fitted into this life-changing event, this journey changed my relationship with God, as I discovered He wasn't a God who was 'far' away as what I always thought, but One who was so close to me in my grief, and cared for me and my children, despite my anger towards Him at the death of my husband and the father of our children. The most important thing however in this book is not so much my grief journey but who God became in my loss. In this book, I aimed to share and convey that God is the new life-giver, even when it feels and looks like everything is lost. He also is the restorer of broken dreams which can often follow when we face a loss; whether that is the loss of a spouse, child, business or health. And I know that this was the most important aspect of my journey, who God became to me in my grief, and what He restored to me; hope, joy, new dreams and a fulfilling life. This is who He desires to be to anyone who faces heartbreaking loss and grief. This journey brought me, despite the depths of my sorrow, a newfound and profound faith in God as He spoke to me through impressions of various scriptures, but also through dreams and words that came to me in my sleeping time, God started the restoration process in my life with a seed of hope and this has continued to grow. This memoir is a testament to the transformative power of faith and how even in our darkest moments, God's presence can illuminate the path to hope and renewal.

Book excerpt: Practical and straightforward, yet warm and compassionate, Grieving with Hope clarifies the popular misconception that people move through stages of grief. This will be an encouragement to many, as grieving people often think something is wrong with them when their grief doesn't proceed neatly through stages. The reality is that grieving people jump back and forth between different emotions, sometimes wrestling with multiple emotions at once. This book is packed with short, biblically based, gospel-centered, topical chapters addressing the issues grieving people face but are often hesitant to mention to others. It helps readers accurately interpret the message their emotions are sending them and gently guides them to determine whether they're grieving in a way that leads to hope and ultimate healing. Developed from interviews with over 30 well-respected Christian counselors, teachers, and authors, as well as numerous personal testimonies, Grieving with Hope helps the bereaved discover how hope and peace are available amidst their heartache and pain.

Book excerpt: Troubled with finding God when the world and close relations tend to drift apart? This book was started when a new Christian decided to write things supporting blessing awareness on paper. The desperate need to know God is still around through the losses and various tragedies is a spiritual survival need. This book captures the things that offer biblical support and references of God's presence through tragedies. Where is God? one may ask. Why does God allow these things to happen? The truth may never be known in this world. This book captures some of the things on how the author approaches desired change focus from the negativity that evolved around losing a child and sibling to feelings of peace. Making changes of focus to acknowledge blessings is helpful in any part of our life. It is especially important to remember and hold on to any blessings received during tragic times in our lives. This book helps our awareness of blessings surrounding us. Many times the small blessings are the ones we see God the most. Identifying and acknowledging the blessings in the most simplistic ways could help us better keep faith in God. It is okay to be angry. Jesus was angry a few times in his life. It is okay to ask why. Jesus asked God why when on the cross. It is okay to grieve. Jesus grieved a few times. Identifying the blessings received will help us to see God when we feel His presence the least. Remember God works in small ways because when we are weak or things are small, His presence is more easily seen. This book identifies the various biblical passages and experiences that are uplifting, reassuring, and encouraging during tragedies. Blessings are observed by the receiver. They are supportive messages that can help us refocus thoughts, prayers, emotions, and heartaches to persevere for our other living love ones who need us.
