And although my father was partly white, yet he had so much of the native blood, that he fashioned after them in travelling from river to river, and from mountain to mountain, and plain to plain, on their jour ney. I was born at Colerain, Massachusetts, a.o. 1798, on the 30th day of January. We lived here but a few months, and then removed to Colchester, Connecticut, within about twelve miles of our native tribe - and there, 'to my sad mis fortune, my father and mother parted I being at this time but a babe, being not more than three years old, and I saw my mother's face no more for twenty years.
