Book excerpt: The Exalter was pleased to be at the top pillar looking down at a game where he had arranged all the pieces. The Exalter says he is god. The Knowers continue to follow him blindly and question nothing. The Exalter promises to end all violence and solve economic turmoil in this futuristic setting. Those unwilling to accept the Exalter are forced slaves to these so-called believers working for mandatory minimal wages, and small governmental food rations. These unfortunate men, women, and children are globally known as Derogates. Derogates are separated from normal society in poverty stricken villages. In this uncertain future, Nicolai struggles with the battles in his personal life. As his work becomes meaningless his own wife begins to slip away from him. He cant seem to find real purpose. Droughts, strange earthly phenomenons, famines, and the release of countless prisoners during the Great Pardon cause him and others to question the Exalters rule. Where are these promises of peace? When the unanswered disappearances of Derogates are discovered mass speculation and chaos follow. Nicolai finds himself searching for answers about his wife, his government, and even the Exalter himself. Events unfold and Nicolai never imagined he would be fleeing for his very life. Stresses build and armies begin to turn on their leaders as a new war looms on the horizon. This war is for individual survival. The Exalter looked confident like that of a strong lion surrounded by starved and weakened animals. My ways are easy to follow without guilt or heavy expectations. How will all of this end and how many will live or die?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Sufi scholar’s philosophical interpretation of the names of God The Divine Names is a philosophically sophisticated commentary on the names of God. Penned by the seventh-/thirteenth-century North African scholar and Sufi poet ʿAfīf al-Dīn al-Tilimsānī, The Divine Names expounds upon the one hundred and forty-six names of God that appear in the Qurʾan, including The All-Merciful, The Powerful, The First, and The Last. In his treatment of each divine name, al-Tilimsānī synthesizes and compares the views of three influential earlier authors, al-Bayhaqī, al-Ghazālī, and Ibn Barrajān. Al-Tilimsānī famously described his two teachers Ibn al-ʿArabī and al-Qūnawī as a “philosophizing mystic” and a “mysticizing philosopher,” respectively. Picking up their mantle, al-Tilimsānī merges mysticism and philosophy, combining the tenets of Akbarī Sufism with the technical language of Aristotelian, Neoplatonic, and Avicennan philosophy as he explains his logic in a rigorous and concise way. Unlike Ibn al-ʿArabī, his overarching concern is not to examine the names as correspondences between God and creation, but to demonstrate how the names overlap at every level of cosmic existence. The Divine Names shows how a broad range of competing theological and philosophical interpretations can all contain elements of the truth. A bilingual Arabic-English edition.

For example, Allah, the Exalted, is All Forgiving according to His infinite status and adopting this attribute by forgiving others is something which has been encouraged in Islam. Chapter 24 An Nur, verse 22: “…and let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” Therefore, this book will discuss some of these divine attributes and names in order for a muslim to understand and adopt their meanings until they become firmly rooted into their spiritual heart so that they can ultimately Achieve Noble Character. In fact, this is the meaning of the Hadith found in Sahih Bukhari, number 2736, which advises that Allah, the Exalted, has ninety-nine names and whoever memorises them will enter Paradise. Adopting Positive Characteristics Leads to Peace of Mind.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Major new translation of a unique and important Persian treatise on divine names in the Islamic tradition. The Repose of the Spirits is a translation of one of the earliest and most comprehensive treatises on Sufism in the Persian language. Written by Aḥmad Sam‘ānī, an expert in Islamic law from a famous Central Asian scholarly family in about the year 1135, it is one of the handful of early Sufi texts available in English and is by far the most accessible. It also may well be the longest and the most accurately translated. Ostensibly a commentary on the divine names, it avoids the abstract discourse of theological nitpicking and explains the human significance of the names with a delightful mix of Quranic verses and sayings of the Prophet and various past teachers, interspersed with original interpretations of the received wisdom. Unlike the usual books on the divine names (such as that of al-Ghazali), The Repose of the Spirits reminds the reader of the later poetical tradition, especially the work of Rumi. The prose is richly embroidered with imagery and interspersed with a great variety of Arabic and Persian poetry. What is especially remarkable is the manner in which the author speaks to his readers about their own personal situations, explaining why they are driven by a love affair with God, a God who is full of compassion and good humor, whether they know it or not. William C. Chittick’s masterful new translation brings this work to an English-language audience for the first time. “This is a wonderful introduction to the particular style, imagery, terminology, and worldview of Sufism, as well as to the ways in which the Persian cultural milieu added important elements to the Arabic intellectual and spiritual tradition in Islam.” — Maria Massi Dakake, author of The Charismatic Community: Shi‘ite Identity in Early Islam

The fulfillment you seek can be found in worship—a worship that starts within you. The sweet psalmist David provided us his key to worship, which God vowed would never end. Once you know where you fit into this pattern of worship, and experience its freedom, you will never opt to live a life of merely going through the motions again. You will worship not because you are told to, but because you love to. In worship, God's heart of love is found. Through it—you can find joy—and feel more alive than ever before!
