Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This inquiry into the theological-political nature of power deals with the application to Europe of a new theory, in which the state is formulated as the synthesis of the economy and culture. Its chief aim is to answer the fundamental questions: What is the best political system for Europe? Upon which principles ought it to be founded? Does it concur with the past and the present of the Europeans? In addition, it unveils important political truths that remained up to now unidentified, yet their philosophical and theological sources were known for centuries. A new concept and an age-old thinking method brought forth this universal political theory. 'Culture family' means either an association of distinct cultures sharing common roots, or the transnational society of their human carriers. Arguably, a sound approach to the political future of multicultural societies is impossible in the absence of this construct. This book explains the genesis of the European culture family in accordance with Hegel's dialectical method, and identifies love as the principle and the end guiding life within it. Moreover, it includes a draft of the Charter of the Rights of the European Culture Family, so as to ensure that all concerned parties acknowledge them. The other key idea underpinning The European Union according to Jesus Christ consists of a cross-domain, all embracing analogy. Just as the person and the work of Jesus Christ are essential to the redemption of mankind, so the entity and the duty of the state are crucial to the recovery of culturally and economically interconnected societies. The Definition of Faith of the Chalcedon Council and its political translation illustrate this similarity. In order to develop it thoroughly, 45 articles of the Summa Theologiae were translated into an equal number of political theses. Aquinas wrote this masterpiece in the 13th century, that is, during Europe's childhood. It is a comprehensive exposition of Christian theology and an excellent summary of the philosophy of Aristotle, one of the greatest thinkers ever. Thus the worth of the propositions incarnating the European version of the state according to Jesus Christ is assured.

In our days, they are being fulfilled. Current events are matching those prophecies. Jesus said they would occur shortly before he returns to the earth. Therefore, this book is a wake-up call to all of the nations. For the first time, the dream of the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar in the Book of Daniel can be completely deciphered! Finally, all names of the ten kingdoms-respectively, ten horns-could now be revealed. No Brexit! Great Britain must return to WEU. The great leader, the Antichrist, will reconnect Great Britain to the Western European empire. Even USA, Canada, and Mexico will be part of this covenant. The author is standing in awe before the God of all things, the father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His devoted heart is strongly led by the responsibility to share this revelation with you. Book excerpt: The current political, economic and financial crises facing the EU reveal a deeper cultural, indeed spiritual, malaise – a crisis in ‘the soul of Europe’. Many observers are concluding that the ‘soul of Europe’ cannot be restored to health without a new appreciation of the contribution of religion to its past and future, and especially that of its hugely important but widely neglected Christian heritage, which is alive today even amidst advancing European secularization. This book offers a fresh, constructive and critical understanding of Christian contributions to the origin and development of the EU from a variety of theological and national perspectives. It explains the Christian origins of the EU, documents the various ways in which it has been both affirmed and critiqued from diverse theological perspectives, offers expert, theologically-informed assessments of four illustrative policy areas of the EU (trade, finance, environment, science), and also reports on the place of religion in the EU, including how religious freedom is framed and how contemporary religious (including Muslim) actors relate to EU institutions and vice versa. The book fills a major gap in the current debate about the future of the European project and will be of interest to students and scholars of religion, politics and European studies.

Book excerpt: Over 2500 years ago God revealed through the prophet Daniel that the Roman Empire will revive as a world power prior to the return of Jesus Christ to establish His earthly, Millennial Kingdom. Inspired by Satan, this empire will be "diverse" or unique in history, uniting a supra-government with a global supra-religion. In his attempt to thwart Christ's return to claim His kingdom, Satan will use this empire to persecute and nearly destroy Israel, a nation crucial to the program of God.Dr. Congdon presents a compelling case, demonstrating just how the European Union may actually be the embryo of the restored Roman Empire. His Bible knowledge and analytical engineering background, coupled with his six-year EU residency, give him a unique perspective on world events and enable him to explore the possibility that the "stage" is being set for the final act in God's revealed plan for history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combining human interest stories with thought provoking analyses, Dr Evert Van de Poll paints the socio-cultural and religious picture of this exceptional continent: its population and cultural variety; past and present idea of ‘we Europeans’; immigration, multiculturalism and the issue of (Muslim) integration; the construction of the EU and the concerns it raises; and the quest for the ‘soul’ of Europe. Special attention is paid to Christian and other roots of Europe; the mixed historical record of Christianity; vestiges of its past dominance; its place and influence in today’s societies that are rapidly de-Christianising; and secularization as a European phenomenon. The author indicates specific challenges for Church development, mission and social service. In so doing, he outlines the contours of a contextualised communication of the Gospel.

Book excerpt: EU enlargement - to countries in Central and Eastern Europe in 2004, the inclusion of Bulgaria and Romania in 2007, and increasing debates on Turkey’s membership - has dramatically transformed the European Union into a multi-religious space. Religious communities are not only shaping identities but are also influential factors in political discourse. This edited volume examines the activities of religious actors in the context of supranational European institutions and the ways in which they have responded to the idea of Europe at local and international levels. By bringing together scholars working in political science, history, law and sociology, this volume analyses key religious factors in contemporary EU architecture, such as the transformation of religious identities, the role of political and religious leaders, EU legislation on religion, and, the activities of religious lobbies. This book was published as a special issue of Religion, State and Society.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Seat of The Antichrist: Bible Prophecy and The European Union identifies the European Union as the final world empire and explains what Bible Prophecy predicts will occur in the end times. The reader discovers the relationship between Bible Prophecy, the European Union and today's current affairs. The Seat of the Antichrist details the European Union's history and institutional structure and shows how it aligns with Bible Prophecy. Bible Prophecy comprises one third of the Bible. The Bible's last book, The Revelation, predicts the events leading to the end of the world. It provides the details for the Tribulation, which occur during a seven year period of wars, plagues, earthquakes and calamities, which end in the battle of Armageddon. Part of the earth's judgments happen through a leader who rises to power from the final world empire predicted in Bible Prophecy. Evangelical Christians customarily refer to this leader as The Antichrist. The Seat of the Antichrist is the first book dealing with Bible Prophecy, which shows prophecy's relation in the present geopolitical framework and in doing so dismisses end-time conspiracy theories, which Bible Prophecy works often rely on. No book dealing with Bible Prophecy provides such in-depth analysis and extensive research as The Seat of the Antichrist: Bible Prophecy and The European Union, which presents the reader with a gripping, riveting expose.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the authors contribution to the debate on Britains future relationship with the European Union. Unusual circumstances led him to spend over ten years researching the significance of European integration. He discovered that a British Secret Service Agent, who investigated Jackthe-Ripper crimes, wrote about a political alliance of European nations (how it would develop, its character and future) even before the French Founding Fathers of the European Project, Jean Monnet and Robert Schuman, were born in 1888 and 1886 respectively. According to the Intelligence Officer, a Confederation of European Nations would develop through a great European crisis. And this European Confederacy would become the next major political feature in history after the restoration of the Jews to Palestine. He made this forecast before Theodor Herzl, the Father of Zionism, formed the Zionist movement in 1896. The state of Israel for the Jews was created in Palestine in May 1948. Two years later, in May 1950, the European Union was born in Paris with The Schuman Plan. These events occurred exactly as the Intelligence Officer had predicted. The author shares with the reader the important advice Schuman and Chancellor Adenauer offered to Europeans concerning the survival of the European Project. The writer responds to David Camerons Bloomberg speech. He offers a critique of his vision for Britain and Europe. He explains whether an independent Scotland should seek EU membership or not. The writer also reveals his communication with an Archbishop concerning the Church of Englands support of Britains membership of the European Union. This volume explains the significance of the national emblem of Great Britain (The Royal Coat of Arms) and what Britishness implies. British values and identity are concealed in Britains heraldrythe symbol of the Sovereignty of the British people.

Guth delve into the powerful role of religion in shaping European attitudes on politics, political integration, and the national and continental identities of its leaders and citizens. Nelsen and Guth contend that for centuries Catholicism promoted the universality of the Church and the essential unity of Christendom. Protestantism, by contrast, esteemed particularity and feared Catholic dominance. These differing visions of Europe have influenced the process of postwar integration in profound ways. Nelsen and Guth compare the Catholic view of Europe as a single cultural entity best governed as a unified polity against traditional Protestant estrangement from continental culture and its preference for pragmatic cooperation over the sacrifice of sovereignty. As the authors show, this deep cultural divide, rooted in the struggles of the Reformation, resists the ongoing secularization of the continent. Unless addressed, it threatens decades of hard-won gains in security and prosperity. Farsighted and rich with data, Religion and the Struggle for European Union offers a pragmatic way forward in the EU's attempts to solve its social, economic, and political crises.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ronan McCrea offers the first comprehensive account of the role of religion within the public order of the European Union. He examines the facilitation and protection of individual and institutional religious freedom in EU law and the means through which the Union facilitates religious input and influence over law. Identifying the limitations on religious influence over law and politics that have been required by the Union, it demonstrates how such limitations have been identified as fundamental elements of the public order and prerequisites EU membership. The Union seeks to balance its predominantly Christian religious heritage with an equally strong secular and humanist by facilitating religion as a form of cultural identity while simultaneously limiting its political influence. Such balancing takes place in the context of the Union's limited legitimacy and its commitment to respect for Member State cultural autonomy. Deference towards the cultural role of religion at Member State level enables culturally-entrenched religions to exercise a greater degree of influence within the Union's public order than "outsider" faiths that lack a comparable cultural role. Placing the Union's approach to religion in the context of broader historical and sociological trends around religion in Europe and of contemporary debates around secularism, equal treatment, and the role of Islam in Europe, McCrea sheds light on the interaction between religion and EU law in the face of a shifting religious demographic.

Book excerpt: This study discusses how and why public and elite opinion moved towards the requirement of the abolishment of the European blasphemy laws, analyzing the case Adel Smith opened against Oriana Fallaci as an example. Consequently, non-governmental organizations initiated mediation programs between Eastern and Western cultures. Such programs should lead to the abolition of the blasphemy law in Europe as a democratic continent.
