Book Synopsis The Eucharist and World Hunger by : Izunna Okonkwo
Download or read book The Eucharist and World Hunger written by Izunna Okonkwo and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-12-21 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hunger is a menace in different parts of the globe. It has more unnatural than natural causes. Though efforts have been made towards alleviating its causes and consequences, more actions still need to be taken for its genuine alleviation and eventual eradication in the world. For Joseph Grassi, painful hunger is a daily occurrence that must be countered by ongoing effective programs that enter into the lives of every Christian. Such position not only recognises the frequency and excruciating nature of hunger but also suggests that Christians and other religious groups have a very important role to play in order to eradicate hunger and its devastating effects. This book explores the nuances of hunger, its causes, dimensions and approaches, as well as its connection to the Eucharist. It argues that hunger can be eradicated and that the Eucharist stands out as a veritable model.
Book Synopsis The Eucharist as Orikọnsọ by : Damian Ọnwụegbuchulam Eze
Download or read book The Eucharist as Orikọnsọ written by Damian Ọnwụegbuchulam Eze and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2008 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book the author, relying on the research he carried out in Igboland, Nigeria, leads us to see the action of God's grace already active in the Igbo religious culture called Omenala Ndigbo before the coming of Christian missionaries and how these cultural values have prepared the people to receive the Gospel. But, as he points out, these cultural values on which the Christian message ought to have been built from the beginning were grossly misunderstood and neglected. The Igbo people are now mainly Christians. But because the Gospel has not yet become their culture, some of them have double allegiance to the doctrines of the Church and to the practices of Omenala Ndigbo. The author opines that to build the Catholic Church in Igboland on a solid foundation, the Eucharist must take the central place - since the Eucharist makes the Church and is the source and summit of the life of the Church. Thus the work, which uses the analytical and hermeneutical method known as inculturation, is on Eucharistic Ecclesiology from an Igbo perspective and will be useful for the Church, both at the local and universal levels for self-understanding and renewal, ecumenism, dialogue and mission.

Book excerpt: Proceedings of the 2nd Conference of the Society of Catholic Social Scientists, Ghana Chapter (SCSS-GC) By: Amevi Acakpovi et al. This book provides a summary of the papers presented during the 2nd conference of the Society of Catholic Social Scientists, Ghana Chapter (SCSS-GC) on the theme technology and rural development (TRD), that was held at the SMA regional house (Oshuiman), Accra, Ghana on 28th and 29th of September, 2018. A total of seven papers were presented together with keynote address after going through a blind review process with highly skilled professors in the designated areas. Dr. Sabina A. Mensah presented on issues of gender consideration in energy efficiency that were proved to significantly influence economic growth. Some investments were recommended to non-conventional energy services used by majority of rural women. Rev. Dr. Eric O. Wiafe stressed on the importance of technology to rural development and, more importantly, pointed out the role that the church can play in fostering the use of technology for rapid transformation. Dr. Louis D. Atsiatorme proposed the use of African philosophical thoughts in sustainable environmental education in Ghana and posited that sustainable environmental education should be based on African philosophical thought. Mr. Fabrice Fifonsi analysed the role of parliamentarians and local government in the rural development with the utilisation of technology in a systemic approach considering their representative mandate, coupled with their legislative and oversight functions. Rev. Dr. John K. Louis developed a Christian theological work on how to mitigate environmental degradation. His work takes source from the Laudato si of Pope Francis who rightly states that the Eucharist is a source of light and motivation for our concerns for the environment, directing us to be stewards of all creation. Finally, Prof. Amevi Acakpovi et al. presented two papers dealing respectively with energy conservation and efficiency and the adoption of electronic government in tertiary educations.

Book Synopsis The Miracle of the Eucharist by : George E. Pfautsch
Download or read book The Miracle of the Eucharist written by George E. Pfautsch and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2018-03-23 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no greater need in the Catholic Church today than to assist our younger generations in understanding the Holy Eucharist. Such understanding is crucial to having greater participation in their Catholic faith. It is church teaching that the consecration of the Eucharist changes the nature of bread and wine into the body and blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The church calls this change transubstantiation, which is a miracle because it is a supernatural event. The miracle of the Eucharist extends to the linkage of our soul to our Divine Lord, whereby we share in his divinity. Divinity is a mystery because it is beyond the nature of earthly things. The transformation of our souls to become more closely aligned with our Divine Lord is an extension of the miracle of transubstantiation. The acceptance of church teaching as regards the Eucharist is an embrace of his words at the last supper to do this in memory of me. It is the optimal way humans have to express their love of their Redeemer.
