Book excerpt: This work represents the rediscovery of an ancient pattern that God has given to his people in order to build His Kingdom on earth. This pattern can be found throughout the Bible. The scripture shows that the Hebrew writers of Old and New Testaments thought, wrote, and lived according to this pattern. We can see that they considered this pattern as foundational to planting, building and living out God's Kingdom here on Earth. As we recognize the pattern of the Kingdom and begin to understand its elements, we can begin to use it to structure every effort pertaining to the Kingdom of God. Indeed, the scripture urges us: "Build everything according to the Pattern that I (God) have shown you." Once recognized as God's intended pattern of the Kingdom, this pattern is applicable and necessary to every part of Godly worship, service and life today. In fact, as we implement our ministry, work and life according to God's plan, we begin to see that God's plan is the only way to build His Kingdom in the Earth.

Book excerpt: An ancient pattern of worship is re-emerging on the earth. In Acts 15, the apostle James quotes the book of Amos, declaring that the "tabernacle of David" will be restored, and the people of the earth will respond to God's gracious invitation into fellowship with Him. David's tabernacle is being restored in our day by the enthronement of God upon the praises of His people through worship! The Lord is birthing a global day-and-night worship and prayer movement that will lead to a historic harvest of souls entering His Kingdom. Worship creates encounter with the living God and His presence, bringing heaven to earth: wholeness and transformation to individuals, to cities, and to nations. You will discover your original purpose and eternal destiny as you step into David's Tabernacle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been a while since the Lord spoke about restoring the tent of meeting. To understand this, we need to understand that before church, there was the Temple, and before the Temple, there was the tent of meeting in the days of Moses. The tabernacle of meeting evolved in the physical Temple built by Solomon, which evolved among the Gentiles to be mostly church buildings. With the stages of development, especially among Gentiles, the very essence of the tabernacle of meeting as in the days of Moses got lost among the sand of time. The tabernacle in the wilderness was about God meeting with man, and where man could enjoy the presence of the Lord. By the shed Blood of the Lamb, God’s presence is now not contained within a physical structure, for God now makes His home within man by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, as believers, we have BECOME the tabernacle of meeting. Through our interpretation of church, the tabernacle today sadly remains a physical structure instead a spiritual one. The church of today has evolved away from the foundational concept of divine interaction, relationship and Covenant participation, which forms the spiritual tabernacle (house) in service to God. It is time to rediscover God’s true intent and purpose for the Tabernacle, and how we are to restore what has fallen and become lost over the centuries.

In this exposition, the author will clearly show how this “veil-less” tent upon Mount Zion reveals the higher dimension of worship that our God seeks. David’s Tabernacle not only reveals the higher worship of Mount Zion, but also the New Covenant standard. The veil-less tent housed the Ark of the Covenant, speaking of the veil that has been rent for us to enter into the very presence of God. This book will challenge you to be a “true worshiper!”

Book excerpt: The Life Of David is a message of meditation based on the Bible and written by Arthur Walkington Pink was born in Nottingham, England, to a corn merchant, a devout non-conformist of uncertain denomination, though probably a Congregationalist. Otherwise, almost nothing is known of Pink's childhood or education except that he had some ability and training in music. As a young man, Pink joined the Theosophical Society and apparently rose to enough prominence within its ranks that Annie Besant, its head, offered to admit him to its leadership circle. In 1908 he renounced Theosophy for evangelical Christianity. Desiring to become a minister but unwilling to attend a liberal theological college in England, Pink very briefly studied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 1910 before taking the pastorate of the Congregational church in Silverton, Colorado. In 1912 Pink left Silverton, probably for California, and then took a joint pastorate of churches in rural Burkesville and Albany, Kentucky. In 1916, he married Vera E. Russell (1893–1962), who had been reared in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Pink's next pastorate seems to have been in Scottsville. Then the newlyweds moved in 1917 to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where Pink became pastor of Northside Baptist Church. By this time Pink had become acquainted with prominent dispensationalist Fundamentalists, such as Harry Ironside and Arno C. Gaebelein, and his first two books, published in 1917 and 1918, were in agreement with that theological position. Yet Pink's views were changing, and during these years he also wrote the first edition of The Sovereignty of God (1918), which argued that God did not love sinners and had deliberately created "unto damnation" those who would not accept Christ. Whether because of his Calvinistic views, his nearly incredible studiousness, his weakened health, or his lack of sociability, Pink left Spartanburg in 1919 believing that God would "have me give myself to writing." But Pink then seems next to have taught the Bible with some success in California for a tent evangelist named Thompson while continuing his intense study of Puritan writings.

Book excerpt: King David stands as one of the most important figures of world history. From children's storybooks to Michelangelo's famous statue, ancient Israel's most famous king is still remembered and recognized by people around the world three thousand years after he lived. Helping readers deepen their understanding of David's tumultuous reign, John Woodhouse highlights David's important role in salvation history—a history that began with Israel but now encompasses God's plan for the whole world. Designed as a trustworthy resource for pastors who preach and teach on a regular basis, this commentary ultimately argues that David's story is important because it lays the crucial foundation for the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, "the son of David." Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The letters of Paul—especially the verse in Ephesians directing slaves to obey their masters—played an enormous role in promoting slavery and justifying it as a Christian practice. Yet despite this reality African Americans throughout history still utilized Paul extensively in their own work to protest and resist oppression, responding to his theology and teachings in numerous—often starkly divergent and liberative—ways. In the first book of its kind, Lisa Bowens takes a historical, theological, and biblical approach to explore interpretations of Paul within African American communities over the past few centuries. She surveys a wealth of primary sources from the early 1700s to the mid-twentieth century, including sermons, conversion stories, slave petitions, and autobiographies of ex-slaves, many of which introduce readers to previously unknown names in the history of New Testament interpretation. Along with their hermeneutical value, these texts also provide fresh documentation of Black religious life through wide swaths of American history. African American Readings of Paul promises to change the landscape of Pauline studies and fill an important gap in the rising field of reception history.

Book excerpt: What does the gift giver say about the gift He gave? This book will help you overcome the arguments, fears, and anxieties related to this gift. FEATURES AND BENEFITS Shares the author's personal testimony and spiritual journey with speaking in tongues Examines the history of this gift in the church for the past two thousand years Interacts with those who have denied that this gift is valid for today's church Speaks to the relationship between Spirit baptism, Spirit filling, and the gift of tongues Few other issues have separated the church more than the issue of tongues. Sam Storms focuses on this controversial subject with his signature insights to theology and the gifts of the spirit. What does the gift giver say about the gift He gave? Storms seeks to bring balance to this subject in The Language of Heaven as he wrestles with this sensitive issue experientially as well as theologically. He ultimately provides a platform to allow God to speak for Himself as he addresses every text of Scripture on the subject and engages with every theological issue that speaking in tongues provokes. As a pastor, Storms knows the questions that the typical churchgoer is asking and provides clear and accessible answers to them all, including: Is the gift of tongues for every Christian or only some? How does the gift of tongues operate in the life of the believer individually in private practice? How does the gift of tongues operate in the corporate assembly of God's church? How is the Christian edified and strengthened by praying in tongues? How do I pray for the gift and prepare my heart to receive it? You can overcome the arguments, fears, and anxieties related to this spiritual gift. Remember, God gives only good gifts, and it is His intention that His church utilize all that He has provided so that we might experience all that He is.
