Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientifically, dreams are defined as brain activity while a person is sleeping. The types of dreams that a person has can be traced to what part of the sleep cycle they were in during the dream. Dreams are directly connected to stored memories that are stimulated while we sleep. Scientists have a variety of hypotheses on why we dream. One of the hypotheses on why we dream is that it gives the cortex a chance to rest. By unplugging the cortex, your brain is no longer processing information. Instead, it dives into your memory banks and replays old memories, often jumbling them together in ways that do not make logical sense. According to this hypothesis, dreams do not have any meaning and our attempts to create some deeper truth out of scrambled memories is a human fallacy. A second hypothesis has arisen with the discovery that most mammals dream. Proponents of this hypothesis argue that dreams must serve a purpose if they are such a widespread phenomenon. The strongest theory thus far is the "threat simulation theory." The essence of this theory is that dreams are a way for the brain to put itself in different scenarios and then think of a way out. It's essentially your brain's way of training itself to respond to threats. Like the first hypothesis, this one ascribes no deeper, hidden meaning to the actual contents of the dream. An opposing hypothesis puts forth the idea that dreams are a way to encode memories. The amygdala is the part of our brain that is responsible for the formation of memories, especially very emotional ones. The amygdala is also very active during dreams. Interpreting dreams, under this hypothesis, is a way to analyze the memories that are too painful for us to face while fully awake. People who support this hypothesis believe dreams to be very helpful in facing past trauma. They have found by using the dream to tease out some event buried within their subconscious, they have been able to face their past and begin the healing process. Those who oppose this hypothesis fear that it may be harmful to those who subscribe to it. Their concern is that people become convinced that there is a traumatic event buried in their past when no such event ever truly occurred. By learning more about dreams and dream interpretation, you will come to recognize the different types of dreams and be able to understand what is causing them without ascribing the wrong meaning to them. Take advantage of this great opportunity to learn to interpret your dreams and use these messages to learn more about your life!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A dynamic exposition of the powerful, ancient Sephardic tradition of dreaming passed down from the renowned 13th-century kabbalist Isaac the Blind • Includes exercises and practices to access the dream state at will in order to engage with life in a state of enhanced awareness • Written by the close student of revered kabbalist Colette Aboulker-Muscat In Kabbalah and the Power of Dreaming Catherine Shainberg unveils the esoteric practices that allow us to unlock the dreaming mind's transformative and intuitive powers. These are the practices used by ancient prophets, seers, and sages to control dreams and visions. Shainberg draws upon the ancient Sephardic Kabbalah tradition, as well as illustrative stories and myths from around the Mediterranean, to teach readers how to harness the intuitive power of their dreaming. While the Hebrew Bible and our Western esoteric tradition give us ample evidence of dream teachings, rarely has the path to becoming a conscious dreamer been articulated. Shainberg shows that dreaming is not something that merely takes place while sleeping--we are dreaming at every moment. By teaching the conscious mind to be awake in our sleeping dreams and the dreaming mind to be manifest in daytime awareness, we are able to achieve revolutionary consciousness. Her inner-vision exercises initiate creative and transformative images that generate the pathways to self-realization.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author, George Shominov, was born in 1958 in Baku, wrote a book based on his own long-term experience the practical Yoga of Sleep and Dreams, narrates about passing from simple dreams to Conscious Dreams, further improvement of Consciousness and eliminating dual perception of Life (esoteric, philosophy)... Every person on Earth is in daily (or more precisely, nightly) contact with the great mystery of his existence. This, of course, is not about sex. This is about our dreams. Since ancient times, people have been trying to unravel the mystery of this phenomenon. How many books have been written on this topic? Various scientific, religious, esoteric and philosophical movements have each in their own way provided humanity with their interpretation. So I myself wanted to sort this out. It all started with the fact that somewhere in the middle of 1997, I decided to write down my dreams. I do not even remember anymore what prompted me to be fixated on dreams or why it was at that exact time (although there is one explanation, of which I will write in a following chapter). And the most interesting thing is that I would write on a regular piece of paper (that is to say, I wasn't taking this too seriously). One day a question arose. Is there at least one person in the world who could remember his very first dream? Of course, the answer is negative. It is even unclear in what period of life dreams begin to occur. Most likely, it's different for everyone. Perhaps in the first year of life, maybe later... And maybe even in the mother's womb? But there are people who remember the first dream that they remember (pardon the pun)...

Book excerpt: What are dreams made of? Here is an explanation of precisely that, not just in the physical sense, but also in the ethereal and astral. The author describes not only how the brain and body dream-as well as instructions for how to guide dreams-but also reveals what the different kinds of dreaming are, and what dreams signify for the ego and the spirit. English clergyman-turned spiritualist CHARLES WEBSTER LEADBEATER (1854-1934) was ordained as an Anglican priest, but later joined the prominent Theosophical Society and traveled to India to study alternative spiritual and occult practices, eventually settling into his life as a clairvoyant and author. His other works include Man Visible and Invisible and The Science of the Sacrament.
