Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Epsilon Papers are a fast-moving mixture of time-travel, politics and murder. At the heart of the story is Doctor Chau Li, an MIT research scientist who was the first to recognize Epsilon as a conduit for time-travel. Two other key characters are Thomas Scott, the Independent Senate Majority Leader from New York, and Senator Manny Ogden, code-named SOTUS. Leader Scott is deep in debt and creates an elaborate plan to embezzle a small fortune from the poorly managed discovery. Is Epsilon the real thing, or just another toy? SOTUS was sent to find the answer. Imagine the thrill of being in the presence of history’s giants. Men like George Armstrong Custer, Adolph Hitler, Sitting Bull or William H. Bonney, better known a.k.a. Billy the Kid. As the story develops, the enormous commercial and military potential leads to murder as China and Russia send their top covert agents to Epsilon Manor. About the Author. Bob Nosler was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. He attended the University of Oregon, is a second generation business owner, and served in the United States Navy Submarine Service from 1966 – 1970. The Epsilon Papers is Bob’s third novel, following Frontier World in 2015 and Owl Eyes in 2018. Epsilon, Time, Fifteen, China, Russia, Suburban, Black, Covert, Diamonds, Clinic, Federal

It is the only way to outperform current and emerging competitors sustainably. But what we call "innovation" is messy and difficult and too often lacks the rigor and discipline of other management processes. "The Innovator's Field Guide: Market Tested Methods and Frameworks to Help You Meet Your Innovation Challenges" changes that. It is a practical guide that moves beyond the "why" to the "how" of making innovation happen, for leaders and practitioners inside organizations of all sizes. Written by two pioneers in the field of embedding innovation in organization, "The Innovator's Field Guide" focuses on the most pressing innovation problems and specific challenges innovation leaders will face and offers concrete solutions, tools, and methods to overcome them. Each chapter describes a specific innovation challenge and details proven ways to address that challengeIncludes practical ideas, techniques, and leading practicesDescribes common obstacles and offers practical solutions Any leader or professional who needs concrete solutions--right now--to the critical challenges of innovation will find invaluable aid in the practical, easy-to-understand, and market-tested approaches of "The Innovator's Field Guide."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Bertrand Russell's Collected Papers finds Russell focused on writing Principia Mathematica during 1905–08. Eight previously unpublished papers shed light on his different versions of a substitutional theory of logic, with its elimination of classes and relations, during 1905-06. A recurring issue for him was whether a type hierarchy had to be part of a substitutional theory. In mid-1907 he began writing up the final version of Principia, now using a ramified theory of types, and eleven unpublished drafts from 1907-08 deal with this. Numerous letters show his thoughts on the process. The volume's 80-page introduction covers the evolution of his logic from 1896 until 1909, when volume I of Principia went to the printer.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Before the handover to China in 1997, Hong Kong’s economic growth was very strong and the unemployment rate dropped to a record low of 2.2 per cent. In recent years, the widening income dispersion in Hong Kong has caught public attention. This book investigates the economic development and changes in income distribution of Hong Kong from different perspectives. Based on latest empirical evidence of Hong Kong, the book examines the relationship between economic restructuring and rising income disparity. Public housing programmes in Hong Kong affect half of the population directly and the other half indirectly. This book assesses the redistributive effect of public rental housing on income distribution. Moreover, Hong Kong embarked an ambitious expansion programme of tertiary education in 1989. The expansion represents an exogenous increase in the supply of university graduates and the book evaluates the impact on income distribution. It also investigates the income dispersion among and between natives and immigrants. Researchers, politicians and policy makers should be interested to learn about the causes of rising income dispersion in post-handover Hong Kong uncovered in this book. Although economic restructuring is named as the prime suspect that caused rising income inequality, the empirical evidence proves otherwise. The book will be of interest to policy makers with implications on social security system and income disparity.

Book excerpt: This volume presents a selection of papers presented at the 3rd European Workshop on Appl ications and Theory of Petri Nets that took place in Villa Monastero, Varenna (Italy) in the period September 27 - September 30, 1982. The I ist of topics included: nets and related models, mathematical analysis of nets, transformations and morphisms of nets, formal languages and nets, parallel program verification and nets, the pro blem of time in nets, programming languages based on nets, applications to distributed systems, applications to realtime systems, software ~~gineering, hardware design and its implementation, recoverability problems, nets and formal semantics; net tools. The diversity of topics on this list witnesses the fact that the researchers from very different areas presented their contributions and discussed various research problems during the workshop. This interaction of scientists looking at the area of Petri nets from very different points of view makes this series of workshops interesting and worthwi le. The volume documents the progress of the research concerning Petri nets during a one year time from the 2nd European Workshop held in Bad Honnef in 1981. We think that this was a substantial progress indeed. This observation is even more pleasant if one real izes that during the workshop in Varenna we have celebrated 20 years of "existence" of Petri nets (the seminal work by prof. C.A. Petri appeared precisely 20 years ago). We are very proud to present an invited address by prof. C.A. Petri in this volume.
