Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are living in exciting times (2009). I am not sure if everyone will agree with my description of these times as 'exciting', but I know the entrepreneurs will. This book is for them. I have been an entrepreneur, formally (in the sense of owning my own business) for the past 26 years. I started while I was in a regular full time job and worked at learning and building a management consulting business for 12 years. This book is the result of a lot of questions that I have answered over the years. Today, as I look at the world around me, the landscape of the so-called global meltdown, I see opportunity. I believe that it is entrepreneurship that will solve this crisis. Entrepreneurs who are not afraid. Who refuse to recognize boundaries imposed by others. Who march boldly where others fear to tread. This book is about the 'How' for those who would like to try. This book is about what worked for me. I don't pretend or position what I have written as some sort of 'universal laws of entrepreneurship'. So try them out. Use them if they work for you and forgive me if they don't. What I do know is that in the 26 years that I have been an entrepreneur, to date, I have advised a large number of people using these very same principles and not one of them came back to tell me that they did not work for him/her. I believe the key is to apply them sincerely, flex them to suit your own unique style and persevere towards your goal.

Book excerpt: Stories of vision and conviction, passion and persistence, struggles and setbacks of six individuals behind the startups that became major players in their domain. Entrepreneurs ― from the Hindi heartland to Ivy League B-Schools and a college drop-out ― who were convinced that their ideas offered a better value proposition than all existing products and services. Uncommon stories of common individuals. These are no super heroes or geniuses or heirs of super rich families or the 'lucky ones', rather they are the men who made mistakes, suffered deceit and setbacks, and fought against all odds to come up triumphant. Each of the stories is from a different field and presents a different face, yet the soul remains the same - ability to make things happen. Conviction, passion, willingness to take risks, hard work, perseverance, and team building remain the underlying thread in each story. "What makes this book good is that the stories are not about business heirs, but about common people who took a risk, made a start and reached their goals." — Hindustan Times "The authors have presented six inspirational stories in an episodic format. The narrative moves like cinematic shots from one stage to another, from one struggle to another to the final victory." — The Tribune

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Entrepreneurship is an academic discipline that, despite decades of growth in research and teaching activity lacks a traditionally distinct or common theoretical domain. In this book, editors Thomas N. Duening and Matthew Metzger explore entrepreneurial identity, facets of entrepreneurship education in forming and developing this identity and the development of entrepreneurs in general. Chapters focus primarily on macro-level identity issues (i.e., how do these entrepreneurial archetypes form, persist, and sometimes change) or micro-level identity issues (i.e., how can educators and resource providers identify, communicate, and incentivize identity construction among aspiring entrepreneurs), topics that will be of interest to researchers and students alike.

This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook is a very timely contribution to organization and business studies. Most calls for longitudinal research are made in sections of published work that deal with limitations of the study or suggestions for further research. This book places longitudinal research methods at center stage. With its practical, hands-on approach it guides us how to design a longitudinal study in and around organizations whether qualitative or quantitative and how to implement it. I warmly recommend this Handbook to ambitious senior and junior researchers. It makes the commonly presented excuses for not undertaking longitudinal research completely redundant. Rebecca Piekkari, Aalto University, School of Business in Helsinki, Finland This is a very timely book that fills an important gap in the field of research methods. So far very little attention has been paid to longitudinal research methods, while the usefulness of this type of research has often been discussed in many papers and conferences. Insights provided by scholars who have been doing this type of research provide useful guidelines for anyone interested in research methods from senior scholars to young researchers and PhD candidates. This volume will serve as an excellent complement to the existing range of books on research methods. Pervez Ghauri, Kings College London, UK This innovative Handbook demonstrates that there is no single best approach to conducting longitudinal studies. At their best, longitudinal research designs yield rich, contextualised, multilevel and deep understanding of the studied phenomenon. The lack of resources in terms of time, funding and people can pose a serious challenge to conducting longitudinal research. This book tackles many of these challenges and discusses the role of longitudinal research programmes in overcoming such obstacles. This book shows how longitudinal research methods enable the understanding of dynamics, mechanisms, causalities and interrelationships of organizational and business concepts in context and in relation to time. It discusses the richness and versatility of longitudinal research and offers, to students and experienced scholars alike, numerous viewpoints, reflections and personal accounts about conducting longitudinal research, from planning and fieldwork to reporting and managing of research projects.
