Book Synopsis Creep of Columbium Alloys by : E. S. Bartlett
Download or read book Creep of Columbium Alloys written by E. S. Bartlett and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although much information on high-temperature tensile and stress-rupture properties for various columbium-base materials is readily available, only limited information concerning the more useful creep behavior of columbium alloys has been reported. These data are widely scattered throughout the literature, and little attempt has been made to rationalize the creep behavior of columbium alloys. The purpose of this memorandum is to compile and review existing creep data for columbium alloys to gain insight into their merits and limitations for time-dependent structural service. (Author).
Book Synopsis Extractive Metallurgy of Niobium by : A.K. Suri
Download or read book Extractive Metallurgy of Niobium written by A.K. Suri and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 751 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The growth and development witnessed today in modern science, engineering, and technology owes a heavy debt to the rare, refractory, and reactive metals group, of which niobium is a member. Extractive Metallurgy of Niobium presents a vivid account of the metal through its comprehensive discussions of properties and applications, resources and resource processing, chemical processing and compound preparation, metal extraction, and refining and consolidation. Typical flow sheets adopted in some leading niobium-producing countries for the beneficiation of various niobium sources are presented, and various chemical processes for producing pure forms of niobium intermediates such as chloride, fluoride, and oxide are discussed. The book also explains how to liberate the metal from its intermediates and describes the physico-chemical principles involved. It is an excellent reference for chemical metallurgists, hydrometallurgists, extraction and process metallurgists, and minerals processors. It is also valuable to a wide variety of scientists, engineers, technologists, and students interested in the topic.
Book Synopsis Mechanical Properties, Oxidation Characteristics, and Weldability of Two Uncoated and Coated Vanadium-base Alloys by : Dick M. Royster
Download or read book Mechanical Properties, Oxidation Characteristics, and Weldability of Two Uncoated and Coated Vanadium-base Alloys written by Dick M. Royster and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation was made to evaluate two vanadium-base sheet alloys for aerospace applications in the 1,800 F to 2,400 F (1,260 K to l,590 K) temperature range. The investigation consisted of mechanical property tests both at room and elevated temperatures and oxidation tests on coated and uncoated material. Three silicide diffusion coatings were evaluated by continuous and cyclic oxidation testing to determine their protective qualities. An X-ray study, a metallographic examination, and hardness measurements were made to identify and locate the elements and compounds present in the coating and substrate before and after elevated-temperature exposure. Fabrication and joining of the alloys are discussed. A description of the equipment and procedures utilized in performing the evaluation tests is included.

Book Synopsis High-purity Metals by : George W. P. Rengstorff
Download or read book High-purity Metals written by George W. P. Rengstorff and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The production and availability of thirteen high-purity metals are discussed in this report. Information about the purest available polycrystalline and single crystal forms of each of the metals is presented. Also included is information about less pure forms of the metal, usually including a grade which might be defined as commercially pure. Some of the newer techniques for analyzing or characterizing the purity of the metals are discussed without including methods of chemical analyses. The thirteen metals covered by this report include the refractory metals molybdenum, tungsten, columbium, tantalum, and rhenium; special light metals, beryllium, and titanium and metals with an intermediate melting point, iron, nickel, chromium, vanadium, and zirconium. The semi-metal, boron, is the thirteenth element. Individual sections for each of the metals are presented in alphabetical order.
