Book Synopsis Measurement of the Angular Distribution of Neutron-proton Scattering at 10 MeV. by :
Download or read book Measurement of the Angular Distribution of Neutron-proton Scattering at 10 MeV. written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relative angular distribution of neutrons scattered from protons was measured at an incident neutron energy of 10 MeV at the Ohio University Accelerator Laboratory. An array of 11 detector telescopes at laboratory angles of 0 to 60 degrees was used to detect recoil protons from neutron interactions with a CH2 (polypropylene) target. Data for 7 of these telescopes were obtained with one set of electronics and are presented here. These data, from 108 to 180 degrees for the center-of-mass scattering angles, have a small slope which agrees better with angular distributions predicted by the Arndt phase shifts than with the ENDF/B-VI angular distribution.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The energy spectra of neutrons emitted from nuclei of several elements bombarded by protons of energies in the region of 25 and 40 Mev have been examined using nuclear emulsion techniques. The energy distributions can be fitted fairly well by Maxwellian shapes at low energies, though the apparent nuclear temperatures calculated from the spectra of neutrons emitted in the forward direction are higher for most elements than those derived from neutron spectra emitted at 180° to the incident proton beam. At high energies the distributions fall off more slowly than the low energy Maxwellian shapes would predict." --

Book Synopsis Nuclear Fission by : Robert Vandenbosch
Download or read book Nuclear Fission written by Robert Vandenbosch and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear Fission provides a comprehensive account of nuclear fission. This book is organized into 14 chapters. Chapter I introduces and discusses the discovery of fission, followed by a treatment of transition nucleus in Chapters II to VIII. Chapter IX deals with the theories of mass and energy distributions. The kinetic energy release in fission is described in Chapter X, while the distribution of mass and charge in fission is considered in Chapter XI. Chapters XII and XIII consider the emission of neutrons and ? rays from fission. Detailed studies of the ? particles accompanying fission are covered in the last chapter. This volume is intended for students, but is also valuable to research scientists interested in the physics and chemistry of fission.
