Book excerpt: Now readers can master the fundamentals of electric circuits with Kang’s ELECTRIC CIRCUITS. Readers learn the basics of electric circuits with common design practices and simulations as the book presents clear step-by-step examples, practical exercises, and problems. Each chapter includes several examples and problems related to circuit design, with answers for odd-numbered questions so learners can further prepare themselves with self-guided study and practice. ELECTRIC CIRCUITS covers everything from DC circuits and AC circuits to Laplace transformed circuits. MATLAB scripts for certain examples give readers an alternate method to solve circuit problems, check answers, and reduce laborious derivations and calculations. This edition also provides PSpice and Simulink examples to demonstrate electric circuit simulations. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Engineering: The Theory and Characteristics of Electrical Circuits and Machinery The second edition contains all the material in the original text but much of it has been rewritten and a great deal of new material added. The more important additions include sections on complex alternating waves and wave analysis, on polyphase alternating current circuits, on the construction of the characteristic curves of direct-current generators and motors, on the design of direct and alternating-current machinery, on the Blondel diagram for the synchronous motor, on the symbolic method of analysis of the induction motor, on alternating-current commutator motors, and finally a chapter on electrical measuring instruments. The chapter on direct-current machinery has been entirely rewritten and much enlarged, and to make it complete a short chapter outlining the design of a direct-current generator has been added. This chapter and the other sections dealing with design are not intended to cover the work required in a course on design but only to give the student some idea of the formulae and constants involved. The questions Of choice Of machine types for various services, voltage regulation, effect of temperature and ventilation upon capacity, batteries, automobile equipment, and care and Operation of electrical machinery have been dealt with to an extent which seems suitable and reasonable for all engineering students, except those who are preparing themselves particularly for electrical engineering. Even to these the book may well serve as an interesting introduction to more comprehensive texts. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new resource provides a comprehensive and concise introduction of the underpinnings and fundamentals of electrical circuits. Models, the limitations of models, and examples are clearly explained. The book examines circuits with static sources and explains how to reduce any circuit to a system of linear equations. Moreover, the book presents dynamic sources that exhibit transient phenomena that require the solution of linear differential equations. MATLAB code is used throughout the book to help solve key problems and assist engineers in the field. Additionally, this hands-on volume explores circuits with sinusoidal sources also known as the AC paradigm. The book provides another key mathematical tool known as a phasor which are mathematical objects based on complex number theory. The book emphasizes solutions for computing power, interpreting power and energy, and compensating electrical systems if the power factor is too low. Professionals are offered design guidance throughout the book with many real-world examples.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Magnetic Circuit This book, together with the companion book entitled The Electric Circuit, is intended to give a student in electrical engineering the theoretical elements necessary for the correct understanding of the performance of dynamo-electric machinery, transformers, transmission lines, etc. The book also contains the essential numerical relations used in the predetermination of the performance and in the design of electrical machinery and apparatus. The whole treatment is based upon a very few funda mental facts and assumptions. The student must be taught to treat every electric machine as a particular combination of electric and magnetic circuits, and to base its performance upon the fundamental electromagnetic relations rather than upon a sepa rate theory established for each kind of machinery, as is some times done. The book is not intended for a beginner, bit for a student who has had an elementary descriptive course in electrical engi neering and some simple laboratory experiments. The treat ment is somewhat different from that given in most other books dealing with magnetic phenomena. It is based directly upon the circuital relation, or interlinkage, between an electric current and the magnetic flux produced by it. This relation, and the law of induced electromotive force, are taken to be the fundamental phenomena of electro - magnetism. No use what ever is made of the usual artificial concepts of unit pole, magnetic charge, magnetic shell, etc. These concepts of mathematical physics, together with the law of inverse squares, embody the theory of action at a distance, and are both superfluous and misleading from the modern point of view of a continuous action in the medium itself. Perfect for beginners! An Introduction to the Study of Electrical Engineering is a textbook authored by Henry Hutchison Norris. The book is written on the assumption that the reader has little technical knowledge of electrical engineering, but is equipped with a general understanding of the subjects examined. Norris' work would make an appropriate first textbook for a student new to the field of study. The book is divided into chapters, each of which provides a fairly detailed examination of a broad topic. Subjects covered include the history of electrical engineering, electrical circuits, the construction of electrical generators, electrical motors and their application, electrical measurements, and much more. The book concludes with a lengthy section of review questions, intended to provide the student with an opportunity to test their understanding of the subject matter. An Introduction to the Study of Electrical Engineering is an aptly titled work. The book serves as an excellent introduction to the subject matter, and remains approachable even by the layman. Readers interested in engineering and electronics are encouraged to consider adding this excellent work to their personal library. Three laws, of which the first expresses the mode of distribution of the electricity within one and the same body; the second, the mode of dispersion of the electricity in the surrounding atmosphere; and the third, the mode of appearance of the electricity at the place of contact of two heterogene ous bodies, forms the basis of the entire Memoir, and at the same time contains everything that does not lay claim to being completely established. The two latter are purely experimental laws; but the first from its nature is, in part at least, theoretical.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Applied Electricity for Practical Men This volume has been in the process of making during twenty years' experience in teaching Applied Electricity to practical electrical workers; to men who expect to make direct application of the principles given them in the class room to their daily work with commercial circuits and machinery. It is written wholly from the standpoint of the one who puts up and operates electric circuits and apparatus. It does not touch problems of apparatus design. Pure theory is avoided, except as it has direct bearing upon practical matters. The principles stated and the explana tions of apparatus which are ofiered are only such as are necessary in order to present essential elements. They can be elaborated by the instructor as much as he may see fit. Every teacher understands the importance of numerical prob lems in order to make clear the principles and performance of apparatus. It is with this in mind that the set of problems found at the end of each chapter has been made up. Even though the computations demanded in the solution of many of the problems of this book are not required in everyday practical work, it is important to understand how a thing works; and unless one can make a computation regarding it and figure out a numerical result, no clear conceptions have been secured.
