Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bestselling analysis of higher education's impact, updated with the latest data How College Affects Students synthesizes over 1,800 individual research investigations to provide a deeper understanding of how the undergraduate experience affects student populations. Volume 3 contains the findings accumulated between 2002 and 2013, covering diverse aspects of college impact, including cognitive and moral development, attitudes and values, psychosocial change, educational attainment, and the economic, career, and quality of life outcomes after college. Each chapter compares current findings with those of Volumes 1 and 2 (covering 1967 to 2001) and highlights the extent of agreement and disagreement in research findings over the past 45 years. The structure of each chapter allows readers to understand if and how college works and, of equal importance, for whom does it work. This book is an invaluable resource for administrators, faculty, policymakers, and student affairs practitioners, and provides key insight into the impact of their work. Higher education is under more intense scrutiny than ever before, and understanding its impact on students is critical for shaping the way forward. This book distills important research on a broad array of topics to provide a cohesive picture of student experiences and outcomes by: Reviewing a decade's worth of research; Comparing current findings with those of past decades; Examining a multifaceted analysis of higher education's impact; and Informing policy and practice with empirical evidence Amidst the current introspection and skepticism surrounding higher education, there is a massive body of research that must be synthesized to enhance understanding of college's effects. How College Affects Students compiles, organizes, and distills this information in one place, and makes it available to research and practitioner audiences; Volume 3 provides insight on the past decade, with the expert analysis characteristic of this seminal work.

This book was released on 2023-03-23 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an open access book.Innovation in the guidance and counseling profession is important so that counselors, teachers, or guidance and counseling practitioners can provide optimal services to their counselees. Along with the development of science, creativity and technology in the fields of psychology, education, and guidance and counseling, various innovations and intervention in the implementation of counseling have been carried out. Especially with the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still on going, various creative interventions in counseling have begun to be widely used. Starting from the use of images for therapy or art therapy, dance movement and the use of other creative media to support the counselee. The need for creative media and innovation in the implementation of counseling is very important at this time, considering that during the pandemic the intensity of face-to-face contact with counselees and counselors is quite limited and most of them use online media. Saturation in the use of online media is also possible to occur a lot, therefore with the existence of creative interventions that can be guided by a virtual counselor, it will be very interesting for the counselee as well as having a therapeutic impact. Therefore, an international seminar was held with the theme creative counseling intervention. This activity can be followed by guidance and counseling teachers, counselors or various other mental health practitioners to increase information and knowledge about creative interventions in counseling. In the end, participants can provide creative and effective counseling services to their counselees.

Book excerpt: Designed to help students learn how to assess clients, conduct treatment planning, and evaluate client outcomes, Counseling Assessment and Evaluation addresses specific CACREP competencies. Incorporating case studies and examples, authors Joshua C. Watson and Brandé Flamez provide foundational knowledge for sound formal and informal assessments, cover ethical and legal considerations in assessment, describe basic statistical concepts, highlight the domains in which assessments are commonly used (intelligence, aptitude, achievement, personality, career, etc.), and provide strategies for integrating assessment data when working with clients. “Watson and Flamez have captured the essence of the assessment process in their new book. Through rich case illustrations and the authors’ deep knowledge of the subject, readers are provided the most current trends and reflections on the assessment process.” —Bill McHenry, Texas A&M University–Texarkana “The text is very straightforward and easy to read. It encourages students to apply what they are learning through case illustrations and guided practice exercises.” —Wendy Killam, Stephen F. Austin State University “Watson and Flamez provide the reader with an engaging discussion of the fundamentals of counseling assessment and evaluation. ?—Mark W. Dewalt, Winthrop University “The case illustrations and the practice exercises are exceptional and go a long way toward making the material accessible. Case examples in the body of the text are also well done.” —Patricia Andersen, Midwestern State University
