Despite government initiatives such as the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) aimed at improving entrepreneurship in South Africa (SA), two phenomena are characteristic: (1) the country is among the least entrepreneurial nations; (2) Unemployed graduates’ lack of interest in entrepreneurship exacerbates high unemployment rates. Consequently, universities are incorporating practical entrepreneurship education into their curricula. Enactus South Africa, as a typical example of university intervention into the problem, was studied with regard to its effect on student’s entrepreneurship intentions. The thinking is that, without access to jobs, entrepreneurship invariably becomes the alternative. Research into this phenomenon is still limited, and existing literature provides equivocal results. The study took the form of quantitative research, to enable the researcher to collect data which would answer best the research question in hand. The findings of the study suggest that there is a positive relationship between Enactus entrepreneurial projects and students‟ entrepreneurship intentions. The research design was supportive in constructing the entire framework of the study. The study was descriptive in nature as essentially it aimed to determine the effect of the phenomena on Enactus students. The population drawn on was Enactus SA, but the sample was taken from the Enactus National Competition 2013, which meant that only students who were representative per Higher Education Institution were sampled. It cannot therefore be assumed that the findings are generalizable to all Enactus SA students.

Research suggesting that certain entrepreneurial mindsets and skills can be learned has given rise to the field of entrepreneurship education and training (EET). Despite the growth of EET, global knowledge about these programs and their impact remains thin. In response, this study surveys the available literature and program evaluations to propose a Conceptual Framework for understanding the EET program landscape. The study finds that EET today consists of a heterogeneous mix of programs that can be broken into two groups: entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship training. These programs target a range of participants: secondary and post-secondary education students, as well as potential and practicing entrepreneurs. The outcomes measured by program evaluations are equally diverse but generally fall under the domains of entrepreneurial mindsets and capabilities, entrepreneurial status, and entrepreneurial performance. The dimensions of EET programs vary according the particular target group. Programs targeting secondary education students focus on the development of foundational skills linked to entrepreneurship, while post-secondary education programs emphasize skills related to strategic business planning. Programs targeting potential entrepreneurs generally are embedded within broader support programs and tend to target vulnerable populations for whom employment alternatives may be limited. While programs serving practicing entrepreneurs focus on strengthening entrepreneurs’ knowledge, skills and business practices, which while unlikely to transform an enterprise in the near term, may accrue benefits to entrepreneurs over time. The study also offers implications for policy and program implementation, emphasizing the importance of clarity about target groups and desired outcomes when making program choices, and sound understanding of extent to which publicly-supported programs offer a broader public good, and compare favorably to policy alternatives for supporting the targeted individuals as well as the overall economic and social objectives.

To attain this work, inductive method was used. Representative sample of graduates for the class of 2008-2015 were used as subjects of the research. Open ended interviews were used as a method of data collection. Looking at the investigation of the study, the training of entrepreneurship could immensely contribute in allowing graduates to have business skills and competencies that could be more important in identifying business opportunities and operate their own businesses. Furthermore, the training of entrepreneurship has not yet been considered by the government since it can bring positive results on graduates on self-employment as a career development. By utilizing qualitative approach the research adopted open ended interviews as a method of collecting data. Data saturation was arrived at 22 graduates from 2008-2015 for Francistown Technical college graduates who were purposively sampled. The research found that the TVET graduates do not have passion about entrepreneurship since they are not interested in being employers but rather they want to be employees. Participants stated challenges for entrepreneurship and these included lack of funds as well as institutions and stakeholders failing to work together in order to produce quality entrepreneurs. Strategies that were suggested during the study include: review of the curriculum content and training instructors so that TVET could have enough number of personnel teaching entrepreneurship. The study also found that TVET graduates are not able to start their own businesses due to lack of capital. It was recommended that the Botswana Government should be seen supporting graduates by developing funding strategies that can give graduates the opportunity to apply their skills. The findings further revealed that TVET graduates are not experienced and they do not have the skills to operate their businesses and some hesitate since they do not want to be risk takers.

The aim of the study is to provide the understanding on why there is low participation of female with undergraduate degree in entrepreneurial activities. Building on the Theory of Planned Behaviour, various factors influencing entrepreneurial intention were tested. Specifically, the factors which influence entrepreneurial intention include: curricula, teaching methods, family back ground and institutional environment. Longitudinal research design was used and data was collected from 188 female students from the Institute of Accountancy Arusha and Kampala International University, Dar es Salaam College. Various techniques such as descriptive statistics, T-Test, Chi-Square were used to analyse the data. Basing on responses, the research revealed that entrepreneurship education has a positive effect on students’ personal attitude and perceived behavioral control of students on the intention to become an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship curricula, teaching methods and environmental conditions of the institutions do influence the entrepreneurial intentions of students to become entrepreneurs in the future. Specifically, Kampala International University students were more inspired (100%) to be entrepreneurs in the future by entrepreneurship course contents and entrepreneurship teaching methods than the Institute of Accountancy Arusha (77%). It is recommended that educators continuously improve their teaching methods and teaching styles, in order to accomplish this, they must assess the effectiveness of the teaching approaches; And if they wants to encourage students to be entrepreneurs, then they have to adopt experiential approaches rather than stick to traditional lecturing.

For this reason the Learning Cycle introduced by Kolb (1984) is an often used teaching approach. According to this Learning Cycle there are four phases (“cycle”) that are connected: 1. Concrete experience (“doing”, “experiencing”) 2. Reflection (“reflecting on the experience”) 3. Conceptualization (“learning from the experience”) 4. Experimentation (“bring what you learned into practice”) In teaching you can enter this cycle at any stage, depending on the students. And that brings us to the different types of students. Based on Hills et al. (1998) a plethora of student groups can be distinguished (of course this list is not exhaustive), e.g: Ph.D. students, who do a doctoral programme in Entrepreneurship; the emphasis is on theory/science. DBA students, who do a doctoral programme that is, in comparison to the Ph.D. more practice oriented. MBA students, who take entrepreneurship as one of the courses in their programme. Most of the time MBA students are mature students, who after some work experience return to the university; the programme is practice oriented.
