Book Synopsis Effects of Planting Bush Beans (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.) in Single Or Double Rows by : Amon Gwaziva Mhaka
Download or read book Effects of Planting Bush Beans (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.) in Single Or Double Rows written by Amon Gwaziva Mhaka and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comparison was made between double rows 15 cm apart on 76 cm centers and single rows 76 cm apart of 'Oregon 91G' bush green beans at the same planting densities in three experiments in 1986 and 1987. There was a significant increase in yields of pods from double rows of 9-14 percent compared to single rows in two experiments. From the third experiment with low planting densities double rows gave an increase in pod yield of 3 percent, which was not significant. Individual plant dry weights and Leaf Area Index (LAI) were usually higher for plants in double rows compared to plants in single rows. Yield responses from increasing plant density were not consistent but highest yields were produced at densities of 35-50 plants/m2. Plant dry weights decreased as density increased, while effects of density on LAI were not consistent. Planting of bush beans in double rows compared to single rows should result in no additional cost inputs except development of planters. Feasibility of adoption of this system of planting is discussed.

Finally in 1978, 100 copies of the writeups these economic plants, which included 146 species of legumes. From 1971 through 1974, Dr. Reed were delivered to the International Legume Con prepared rough drafts of write-ups on the 1,000 ference at Kew, July 24th-August 4, and all were species. It was my responsibility to establish the given to potential cooperators before my lecture on format and monitor the write-ups, to ensure that the manual (July 31st). Book Synopsis Pulse Improvement by : Shabir Hussain Wani
Download or read book Pulse Improvement written by Shabir Hussain Wani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-23 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in molecular biology and genome research in the form of molecular breeding and genetic engineering put forward innovative prospects for improving productivity of many pulses crops. Pathways have been discovered, which include regulatory elements that modulate stress responses (e.g., transcription factors and protein kinases) and functional genes, which guard the cells (e.g., enzymes for generating protective metabolites and proteins). In addition, numerous quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with elevated stress tolerance have been cloned, resulting in the detection of critical genes for stress tolerance. Together these networks can be used to enhance stress tolerance in pulses. This book summarizes recent advances in pulse research for increasing productivity, improving biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, and enhancing nutritional quality.
Book Synopsis Photosynthesis And Bioenergetics by : James Barber
Download or read book Photosynthesis And Bioenergetics written by James Barber and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a tribute to three outstanding scientists, Professors Jan Anderson FRS, Leslie Dutton FRS and John Walker FRS, Nobel Laureate. Covering some of the most recent advances in the fields of Bioenergetics and Photosynthesis, this book is a compilation of contributions from leading scientists actively involved in understanding the natural biological processes associated with the flow of energy in biological cells. The lectures found in this significant volume were presented at a meeting in March 2016 in Singapore to commemorate the outstanding research in this area. The contents begin with the ideas, specially the contribution from Nobel Laureate Rudolph Marcus, who is well-known for creating the theory of electron transport reactions. This is followed by contributions of many others on various aspects of respiratory and photosynthetic transport chains as well as the dynamic regulation of light harvesting and electron transport events in oxygenic photosynthesis. The book is highly recommended to postgraduate students and researchers who are interested in various aspects of bioenergetic cycles.
