In view of the wide spread use oi concrete in the construction of pavements, oors, loading platforms, and in other places requiring high strength and resistance to abrasion, it seemed desirable to carry out an experimental study which would bring out the effect Of water content and curing conditions on the compressive strength and the wearing resistance of concrete, and the relation between these two properties. These tests were made as a part of the experimental studies of the properties of concrete and concrete materials, being carried out through the co - operation of Lewis Institute and the Portland Cement Association at the Structural Materials Research Laboratory, Lewis Institute, Chicago.
