Book excerpt: Dynamic Mars: Recent and Current Landscape Evolution of the Red Planet presents the latest observations, interpretations, and explanations of geological change at the surface or near-surface of this terrestrial body. These changes raise questions about a decades-old paradigm, formed largely in the aftermath of very coarse Mariner-mission imagery in the 1960s, suggesting that much of the interesting geological activity on Mars occurred deep in its past, eons ago. The book includes discussions of (1) Mars' ever-changing atmosphere and the impact of this on the planet's surface and near-surface; (2) the possible involvement of water in relatively new, if not contemporary, gully-like flows and slope streaks (i.e. recurring slope lineae); and (3) the identification of a broad suite of agents and processes (i.e. glacial, periglacial, aeolian, meteorological, volcanic, and meteoric) that are actively revising surface and near-surface landscapes, landforms, and features on a local, regional, and hemispheric scale.Highly illustrated and punctuated by data from the most recent Mars missions, Dynamic Mars is a valuable resource for all levels of research in the geological history of Mars, as well as of the three other terrestrial planets. - Utilizes observational and model-based data as well as geological context to frame the understanding of the dynamic surface and near-surface of Mars - Presents a broad spectrum of highly regarded experts and themes to discuss and evaluate the geological history of late and current Mars - Includes extensive and detailed imagery to clearly illustrate these themes, discussions, and evaluations

Book excerpt: About the book The book provides detailed analysis of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 which replaced the Listing Agreement and were notified on 2nd September 2015. These Regulations impose considerable volume of compliance obligations on listed entities and every listed entity is obligated to comply with them. The volume of the Regulations and the pace at which they have been undergoing frequent changes makes the task of compliance a hard one for the compliance officers. This book attempts to simplify the complex mass of the Regulations and bring in the relevant provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 so as to assist the compliance officers in their task of compliance. These Regulations apply to the listed entity who has listed any of the following designated securities on recognised stock exchange(s): (a) Specified securities listed on main board or SME exchange or institutional trading platform; (b) Non-convertible debt securities, non-convertible redeemable preference shares, perpetual debt instrument, perpetual non-cumulative preference shares; (c) Indian depository receipts; (d) Securitised debt instruments; (e) Security receipts; (f) Units issued by mutual funds; (g) Any other securities as may be specified by the Board. It would be immensely useful for Company Secretaries, Law professionals & Chartered Accountants. Key highlights Covering detailed analysis of provisions applicable for listing of specified securities on recognized stock exchange(s). Topics have been thoroughly explained using judicial pronouncements.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with modeling and implementation of high performance, current-steering D/A-converters for digital transceivers in nanometer CMOS technology. In the first part, the fundamental performance limitations of current-steering DACs are discussed. Based on simplified models, closed-form expressions for a number of basic non-ideal effects are derived and tested. With the knowledge of basic performance limits, the converter and system architecture can be optimized in an early design phase, trading off circuit complexity, silicon area and power dissipation for static and dynamic performance. The second part describes four different current-steering DAC designs in standard 130 nm CMOS. The converters have a resolution in the range of 12-14 bits for an analog bandwidth between 2.2 MHz and 50 MHz and sampling rates from 100 MHz to 350 MHz. Dynamic-Element-Matching (DEM) and advanced dynamic current calibration techniques are employed to minimize the required silicon area.

Book excerpt: Identifying Emerging Trends in Technological Innovation Doctoral programs in science and engineering are important sources of innovative ideas and techniques that might lead to new products and technological innovation. Certainly most PhD students are not experienced researchers and are in the process of learning how to do research. Nevertheless, a number of empiric studies also show that a high number of technological innovation ideas are produced in the early careers of researchers. The combination of the eagerness to try new approaches and directions of young doctoral students with the experience and broad knowledge of their supervisors is likely to result in an important pool of innovation potential. The DoCEIS doctoral conference on Computing, Electrical and Industrial En- neering aims at creating a space for sharing and discussing ideas and results from doctoral research in these inter-related areas of engineering. Innovative ideas and hypotheses can be better enhanced when presented and discussed in an encouraging and open environment. DoCEIS aims to provide such an environment, releasing PhD students from the pressure of presenting their propositions in more formal contexts.
