Book excerpt: In many Asian traditions, 21 days is considered a spiritually significant time period. Ancient sacred texts often describe the transformation of spiritual figures through 21 days of ascetic discipline. Some experts tell us that it takes at least 21 days to create a new habit because of the time required for new neural connections to form in the brain. This inherent brain plasticity is the key to our ability to change ourselves and our lives. Is there something about yourself that you feel less than satisfied with? This journal will help you go through your own transformation, one day at a time. Journaling helps you clarify your thoughts and feelings, and formulate a new understanding of yourself. The 21-Day Journal guides you in this self-development process, helping you set a goal and a course of action. It gives you the space to record not only your thoughts and emotions, but your plans and evaluations of your progress. Learn how to closely watch yourself and learn from your own experience through the lens this journal provides. Beautifully designed with uplifting photographs from nature, the 21-Day Journal includes an introduction and a foundation for beginning your journey from New York Times bestselling author and self-development mentor Ilchi Lee. His encouraging quotes are scattered throughout, and there are extra blank pages in the back to provide plenty of space for recording your own inspiration.

Why do some individuals and teams succeed more quickly than others and sustain that success over the long term? 2. Of those who pull it off, why are some miserable and others consistently happy on their journey? 3. What motivates people to reach for higher levels of success in the first place, and what practices help them improve the most After extensive original research and a decade as the world’s leading high performance coach, Burchard found the answers. It turns out that just six deliberate habits give you the edge. Anyone can practice these habits and, when they do, extraordinary things happen in their lives, relationships, and careers. Book excerpt: The Divine Dance has become a classic for fans of Richard Rohr and an important book on Christian mysticism, it provides a fresh perspective for anyone studying or teaching the trinity. The Trinity is the central doctrine of Christianity, but it is still widely considered a mystery we won't ever fully understand. Should we still try to understand it, even so? If we could, how would it transform our relationship with God? In this stimulating and thought-provoking book, internationally recognised teacher Richard Rohr explores the nature of God and the paradoxical idea of the Holy Trinity as both three and one. With clear, surefooted wisdom, he encourages us to build on the early Christian understanding of the relationship between Father, Son and Spirit as a flow and dance - a Divine Dance - that we are invited to join in. An engaging, accessible look at the nature of God, The Divine Dance will challenge the way you think about the Trinity and give you a much fuller understanding of the triune relationship that is at the heart of Christian doctrine. It will leave you with a faith that is renewed and strengthened, and show you how you can engage more deeply in your relationship with God and the world through the Trinity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Dr. Prologo targets sustainability. He elevates our science-based weight-loss programs by keeping people engaged.” —Arthur Agatston, MD, author of The South Beach Diet Ninety-nine percent of diets fail because our bodies resist the change in the name of survival. “Stop with the rice cakes and boot camp already—we are starving to death!” It’s like holding your breath underwater. We can endure it for a short time against the body’s will to survive, but the longer you stay there, the louder and more crushing the signals get, until you finally burst to the surface for air (or into a fast food restaurant, the pantry, or a refrigerator, in the case of dieting). The Catching Point Transformation was created to ease this transition and quiet the body’s resistance so that everyone can have fun, feel confident, and be successful when engaged with healthy living. It levels the playing ground for those who are trying to make a change with those who are already lean. Dr. Prologo understands and believes you when you say “no diet works for me,” and so has finally created a different approach.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are times in life when we are caught utterly unprepared: a death in the family, the end of a relationship, a health crisis. These are the times when the solid ground we thought we stood on disappears beneath our feet, leaving us reeling and heartbroken, as we stumble back to our faith. The Days of Awe encompass the weeks preceding Rosh Hashanah up to Yom Kippur, a period in which Jews take part in a series of rituals and prayers that reenact the journey of the soul through the world from birth to death. This is a period of contemplation and repentance, comparable to Lent and Ramadan. Yet, for Rabbi Alan Lew, the real purpose of this annual passage is for us to experience brokenheartedness and open our heart to God. In This is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared, Lew has marked out a journey of seven distinct stages, one that draws on these rituals to awaken our soul and wholly transform us. Weaving together Torah readings, Buddhist parables, Jewish fables and stories from his own life, Lew lays bare the meanings of this ancient Jewish passage. He reveals the path from terror to acceptance, confusion to clarity, doubt to belief, and from complacency to awe. In the tradition of When Bad Things Happen to Good People, This Is Real And You Are Completely Unprepared enables believers of all faiths to reconnect to their faith with a passion and intimacy that will resonate throughout the year.

By eating Primally, you'll transform from a "sugar-burner" into a Sisson's so-called "fat burning beast", where stored body fat becomes your preferred fuel choice, and energy, hormone, metabolic, and immune function are optimized automatically. With an intuitive mix of Primal workouts, you'll get exceptionally fit in only a few hours per week -- and have fun while you're at it! The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Transformation is stocked with photos, diagrams, concise section summaries, workout descriptions and photos, resource lists for Primal-approved foods and foods to avoid, recipe suggestions, and detailed real-life success stories to help you stay confident and focused on your Primal journey. Unlike many complex, regimented, quick-fix programs, the Primal Blueprint 21-Day Transformation is a simple, sensibly-paced journey shaped by personal preference and a strong emphasis on enjoying comfortable modern life. The material is scalable for everyone, from Type-A fitness die-hards who might benefit from a more relaxed approach, to couch potatoes who need motivation to take that first step. You can expect quick results in the first 21 days (fat loss, improved energy levels, fitness, and blood test markers), but your 21-Day Transformation is only the beginning of a life of ease and contentment that is possible when you live in harmony with your genetic requirements for health and longevity.

This book was released on 2005 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book focusses on the origin and transformation of the priestly festival calendar. Since the epoch-making work of Julius Wellhausen at the end of the 19th century the differences between the various ancient Israelite festival calendars have often been explained in terms of a gradual evolution, which shows an increasing historicisation, denaturalisation and ritualisation. The festivals were in Wellhausen's view gradually detached from agricultural conditions and celebrated more and more at fixed points in the year. This study tries to show that the changes in the priestly festival calendar reflect a conscious effort to adapt the ancient Israelite festival calendar to the semi-annual layout of the Babylonian festival year. The ramifications of the change only come to the fore after a careful study of the agricultural conditions of ancient Israel - and Mesopotamia - makes clear that passover and the festival of unleavened bread were originally celebrated in the second month of the year. The first month of the year envisaged by the priestly festival calendar for the celebration of passover and the festival of unleavened bread in turn mirrors the date of one of the two semi-annual Babylonian New Year festivals. The two Babylonian New Year festivals were celebrated exactly six months apart at the vernal and autumnal equinoxes. In order to adapt the ancient Israelite festival calendar to the Babylonian scheme with two New Year festivals a year, the date of passover and the festival of unleavened bread had to be moved up by one month. The consequences for the origin of passover, the festival of unleavened bread, the festival of weeks and the festival of huts are charted and the relations between the various ancient Israelite festival calendars are determined anew.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last half of the Digital Age, there will be winners and losers. This book guides business leaders on what you need to do to ensure that your organization is on the winning side. Digital transformation is about building digital technologies into or around your products, services, and ways of doing business. It is about business transformation. It is not about IT. Business leaders must understand the difference between digital and non-digital organizations, and the four business strategies that have been proven to help organizations truly transform. This book provides the foundation business leaders need to filter through the noise of buzzwords and technology vendor pitches to truly take control of their digital transformation efforts. The authors share insider knowledge gained by working with leaders of corporations, non-profits, and governments across the globe over the past four decades on how to successfully define and implement a practical digital vision and strategy for your business. In plain, clear language we explain the drivers behind the changes needed to transform your organization into being a digital survivor, possibly even a disruptor in your industry. We provide step-by-step guidance on what actions you as a business leader need to take to develop a strategy and then select and implement the technologies that will digitize your products, services, and ways of doing business to put your organization in the winning column for the next decade. Praise for The Day Before Digital Transformation: "In addition to changing the way business leaders think, The Day Before Digital Transformation gives technologists the choice of working either within the business or in IT. And it will spawn an entirely new segment of consulting to help business teams digitize their products and services." - Bill Seibel, Digital transformation practitioner and thought leader "The Day Before Digital Transformation is not merely a historical look at an academic topic of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It provides the reader a new lexicon with grounded examples and processes for any business executive to leverage the opportunities that digital technologies provide at this unique time in the world's evolution. Readers should consider not reading this book if they are comfortable being left behind. To ignore its messages is at your and your organization's peril!" - Brian R Lurie, Global Chief Information Officer / Executive Coach "I love the lessons learned section in Chapter 4 of The Day Before Digital Transformation. The examples are not only valid but are counter-intuitive enough for many business executives to miss completely. " - Mark Pecen, President, Quantum Valley Ideas Lab, Canada and CTO Emeritus of Research in Motion (RIM) "Today, every organization aspires to be digital, but it is not a silver bullet or a giant leap. It is a series of actions. The Day Before Digital Transformation takes leaders and senior managers through this journey. In addition, it offers a framework and a guide on how to deal with real-world problems when activating true digital." - Tarun Kohli, Head Innovation Lab "The Day Before Digital Transformation is fascinating for its description of the digital transformation happening today but more importantly for its insights into what must (and surely will) happen over the next several decades. Cheryl and Phil have provided clear guideposts, not only for digital technologists, but for the business leaders who must take responsibility for the transformation." - Fred Lowther, Senior Partner, Blank Rome LLP.

This book was released on 2014-07-11 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the structural change in Indian society that began in the 1990s - the result of the liberalisation of the economy, devolution of power, and decentralisation of the government–an unprecedented, democratic transformation has been taking place. This has caused the emergence of unexpected coalitions and alliances across diverse castes, classes, and religious groups according to the issues involved. In this volume, we intend to understand this deepening of democracy by employing a new analytical framework of the 'vernacular public arena' where negotiations, dialogues, debates, and contestations occur among 'vernacular publics'. This reflects the profound changes in Indian democracy as diverse social groups, including dalits, adivasis, and Other Backward Classes; minorities, women; individuals from rural areas, towns, and cities; the poor and the new middle classes–the 'vernacular publics'–participate in new ways in India’s public life. This participation is not confined to electoral politics, but has extended to the public arenas in which these groups have begun to raise their voice publicly and to negotiate and engage in dialogue with each other and the wider world. Contributors demonstrate that the participation of vernacular publics has resulted in the broadening of Indian democracy itself which focuses on the ways of governance, improving people’s lives, life chances, and living environments. An original, comprehensive study that furthers our understanding of the unfolding political dynamism and the complex reshuffling and reassembling taking place in Indian society and politics, this book will be relevant to academics with an interest in South Asian Studies from a variety of disciplines, including Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, and Media Studies. The Open Access version of this book, available at http://www.taylorfrancis.com, has been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license.
