Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Eddie Toppen, Jr. I consider myself just a servant. This book comes to you because when I was sitting in my quiet place of meditation and study, reading and thinking about our Father's prayer, for the first time I realized He only addresses one portion of that prayer in elaboration (Matthews 6:14-15): "For if ye forgive men their trespasses your heavenly Father will also forgive you; But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses)." While reading this, all of a sudden it was revealed to me that a Spirit or Attitude of resentment was sitting up in me which I had never thought about, but when the Spirit revealed it to me and exampled it, surely it was. I became scared and frighten because with all my heart I believed that God had forgiven me of all my sins but unless I forgive, I knew it was on hold. I realize Christ wants us to be with him in glory, so we must fulfill all scriptures that mean having the ability to forgive. There was a great response of the people that witnessed to me about these series on forgiveness and how it affected their lives; and how they had to make changes in their lives. They witnessed to me on how they were holding on to hatred against people for years and years but how they felt set free and lighter after they forgave. I am trusting that everyone that reads this book will make their lives better and much sweeter. It the Lord's will and much desire that all Christian's would do as I did and consider and examine themselves. May the peace of God be with you and favor follow you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Any good commander will make certain that their soldiers have correct and ample intelligence about the battles they are preparing to fight. This is what we have from our commander in chief, Jesus Christ. In Matthew 24, Jesus entrusts the soldier with a prophetic outline of the end-times. He explains what the world would look like in the advanced stages of depravity (Matthew 24:6-7). He further shared about the rise of religious deception (Matthew 24:4-5), the falling away of the church (Matthew 24:9-12), and the great tribulation (Matthew 24:21). Also hidden within this prophetic overview is a picture of the war between the saints and Satan for the souls of others. We see this in Matthew 24:7a when Jesus says, "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom." While this verse clearly refers to the unprecedented upheaval of racial prejudice and extreme nationalism, Jesus is saying something more here. Nation rising against nation refers to ethnicities or races, but kingdoms refer to governments and countries. I believe that Jesus not only reveals that the natural kingdoms of this world would rise against one another but also that the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness will also rise against each other in unprecedented warfare. Advancing on the Kingdom of Darkness with Power is a spiritual warfare manual written specifically for these end-times. In this book, we will discover how to truly dismantle Satan and his demonic hierarchy through divinely inspired systematic strategies. It is an exhortation for the Christian soldier to take up spiritual arms against the prevailing spiritual darkness that is permeating society. It aids the soldier in this endeavor by preparing them for end-time spiritual warfare, teaching them how to engage the enemy through Spirit-led wisdom and, ultimately, how to find victory for themselves and others. In these tumultuous times we live in, Advancing on the Kingdom of Darkness with Power is a weapon that every Christian soldier should possess in their arsenal.

Book excerpt: A perfect blend of medical drama and spiritual insight, Gray Matter is a fascinating account of Dr. David Levy’s decision to begin asking his patients if he could pray for them before surgery. Some are thrilled. Some are skeptical. Some are hostile, and some are quite literally transformed by the request. Each chapter focuses on a specific case, opening with a detailed description of the patient’s diagnosis and the procedure that will need to be performed, followed by the prayer “request.” From there, readers get to look over Dr. Levy’s shoulder as he performs the operation, and then we wait—right alongside Dr. Levy, the patients, and their families—to see the final results. Dr. Levy’s musings on what successful and unsuccessful surgical results imply about God, faith, and the power of prayer are honest and insightful. As we watch him come to his ultimate conclusion that no matter what the results of the procedure are, “God is good,” we cannot help but be truly moved and inspired.

Book excerpt: The death of a child should never pre-date that of their parents. It's happening far too often more and more in the current generation. The cause of the current epidemic of depression and teen suicide will be studied for decades to follow. In the present, we as parents must open our eyes, our ears, our minds, and our hearts to a desperate situation. The second leading cause of death of our young people is suicide. When, during your own youth did you ever give serious and pensive thought to taking your own life? Perhaps in a fleeting moment when you experienced sharp pain of a love lost or a word said, but today, the option of suicide is "on the menu" of choices and our youth talk about that menu item daily. We implore readers to learn about this taboo topic... "The 'S' Word" and to help ensure it is not kept a subject we don't talk about, but rather one we openly acknowledge and fight against as informed parents to a lost and lonely generation.

Book excerpt: Reclaim Your Headspace and Find Your One True Voice As a hospital chaplain, J.S. Park encountered hundreds of patients at the edge of life and death, listening as they urgently shared their stories, confessions, and final words. J.S. began to identify patterns in his patients’ lives—patterns he also saw in his own life. He began to see that the events and traumas we experience throughout life become deafening voices that remain within us, even when the events are far in the past. He was surprised to find that in hearing the voices of his patients, he began to identify his own voices and all the ways they could both harm and heal. In The Voices We Carry, J.S. draws from his experiences as a hospital chaplain to present the Voices Model. This model explores the four internal voices of self-doubt, pride, people-pleasing, and judgment, and the four external voices of trauma, guilt, grief, and family dynamics. He also draws from his Asian-American upbringing to examine the challenges of identity and feeling “other.” J.S. outlines how to wrestle with our voices, and even befriend them, how to find our authentic voice in a world of mixed messages, and how to empower those who are voiceless. Filled with evidence-based research, spiritual and psychological insights, and stories of patient encounters, The Voices We Carry is an inspiring memoir of unexpected growth, humor, and what matters most. For those wading through a world of clamor and noise, this is a guide to find your clear, steady voice.

Book excerpt: “If you are struggling with issues of betrayal—or the challenge of whether and how to forgive—here is the most helpful and surprising book you will ever find on the subject.”—Harriet Lerner, Ph.D., author of The Dance of Anger Everyone is struggling to forgive someone: an unfaithful partner, an alcoholic parent, an ungrateful child, a terrorist. This award-winning book provides a radical way for hurt parties to heal themselves—without forgiving, as well as a way for offenders to earn genuine forgiveness. Until now, we’ve been taught that forgiveness is good for us and that good people forgive. Dr. Janis Abrahms Spring, a gifted clinical psychologist and award-winning author of After the Affair, proposes a radical, life-affirming alternative that lets us overcome the corrosive effects of hate and get on with our lives—without forgiving. She also offers a powerful and unconventional model for earning genuine forgiveness—one that asks as much of the offender as it does of the hurt party. Beautifully written and filled with insight, practical advice, and poignant case studies, this bold and healing book offers step-by-step, concrete instructions that help us make peace with others and ourselves, while answering such crucial questions as these: How do I forgive someone who is unremorseful or dead? When is forgiveness cheap? Can I heal myself – without forgiving? How can the offender earn forgiveness? What makes for a good apology? How do we forgive ourselves for hurting another human being?

Book excerpt: Praise for Amish Grace "A story our polarized country needs to hear: It is still grace that saves." —BILL MOYERS, Public Affairs Television "In a world where repaying evil with evil is almost second nature, the Amish remind us there's a better way. In plain and beautiful prose, Amish Grace recounts the Amish witness and connects it to the heart of their spirituality." —SISTER HELEN PREJEAN, author, Dead Man Walking "Faced with the notorious Amish aversion to publicity, reporter after reporter turned to the authors...to answer one question: How could the Nickel Mines Amish so readily, so completely, forgive ? While the text provides a detailed account of the tragedy, its beauty lies in its discovery of forgiveness as the crux of Amish culture. Never preachy or treacly, it suggests a larger meditation more than apt in our time." —Philadelphia Magazine "This balanced presentation . . .blends history, current evaluation of American society, and an examination of what builds community into a seamless story that details the shootings while it probes the religious beliefs that led to such quick forgiving. Recommended." —Library Journal "Professors Kraybill, Nolt, and Weaver-Zercher have written a superb book—a model of clear, forceful writing about a tragedy and its aftermath. They have an obvious affection for the Amish yet ask tough questions, weigh contradictions, and explore conundrums such as how a loving God could permit schoolgirls to be massacred." —National Catholic Reporter Visit the authors' Web site at www.amishgrace.com
