Book Synopsis Crosscut Saw Tooth-setting Tool by : Bob Beckley
Download or read book Crosscut Saw Tooth-setting Tool written by Bob Beckley and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Describes a tool used to set (slightly bend) a tooth on a crosscut saw. A crosscut saw's teeth are set alternately to the right and left away from the plane of the saw blade. The set produces a kerf or cut that is wider than the saw blade, helping to prevent the blade from getting stuck. The raker teeth that pull wood from the cut are not set. The tooth-setting tool allows a hammer to be used to bend a tooth against the tool's anvil. During a test, each blow from a 1-pound hammer moved the cutter tooth about 0.001 inch. A spider or dial indicator gauge is used to make sure the set is correct for the type of wood being cut and the type of saw being used. The typical tooth set for Forest Service applications is about 0.012 to 0.015 inch.

Book excerpt: His voice echoed dully, swallowed by the rough- ribbed, deep striations of the tunnel walls that looked as though they had been lacerated by giant claws. But for the pools of light shed by the two lamps, the darkness inside the tunnel would have been complete. The air was heavy, still, and fetid with a heady witch's brew of ill defined chemical smells.Advancing into the bowels of the mine they sloshed through puddles of water. The yellow light of their carbide lamps, dancing over the slick corrugations of the adit walls, threw up coatings of green bacterial slime and here and there small, iridescent, green copper stalactites and spikes of the same plumage jutting from the tunnel wall.

Download or read book 202 Methods of Forcing written by Theodore Annemann and published by . This book was released on 2011-03-09 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theodore "Theo" Annemann (stage name Ted Anneman) born Theodore John Squires (February 22, 1907 - January 12, 1942) was an American professional magician who specialized in the field of mentalism. Annemann is most famous for inventing and refining many of the standard mentalism routines that continue to be used by magicians today. Early in his life, Annemann began working as a railroad clerk and then got into showbusiness as a tenor singer and a magician's assistant. He eventually became interested in mentalism and used his invention and performance skills to become one of the most talented and respected magicians of the 1930s. Annemann perfected his own version of the famous bullet catch illusion, performing the effect outdoors. Accounts of his performance describe the feat as a dramatic effect wherein Annemann would collapse from the apparent force of the gun and then produce the bullet from his blood-drenched mouth. In 1934 he began publishing the famous magazine The Jinx, for magicians. The magazine was focused on mentalism, but also featured ground-breaking effects from other fields of magic. The publication of this magazine ceased after Annemann's death and copies of it have become collector's items. Effects from the magazine have been published in several books and manuscripts, among them Annemann's Practical Mental Magic. This book is considered a classic in the field of mentalism. Annemann was married twice and had a daughter by his first wife. His personality is the subject of much speculation. On the night of January 12, 1942, Annemann was scheduled to perform his bullet catch indoors for the first time. Before the performance, he committed suicide. Since the subject of suicide is complicated, we may never know exactly why Theo decided to end his own life.
