Book excerpt: Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived, they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. --Acts 4:13 I am not a theologian. I don't have a college degree, sorry. I'm a high school graduate and didn't go to college but would have gone if I could have afforded it. I became a born-again Christian at twenty-two. From reading the Bible from beginning to end, and walking around New Brunswick, Canada, God took me into the wilderness. This book has a list of things that I've taken from the Bible and applied. I made the list to remind myself daily what I should want to do. So this is purely for me and from me. This doesn't mean you have to change your list, but as time goes on, you'll refine it for yourself. I feel that it is a good template either way. These are the things I want to do every day, and there is a small list of things not to do. I suggest you make your own list of the things you want to do or copy mine into a small notebook so you can read them every day. Definitely make one of your own lists of what not to do. My don'ts and your don'ts may not be completely different, but there will be some differences. This book is, above all, about praying to God about everything, reading the Bible, getting closer to him, and being in his will. I believe we, as born-again Christians, are here for the Lord to do work through us and to do his will.

As an eyewitness to the life of Christ, the Apostle John presents authentic Christianity in its simplest form. His letter to the church titled “First John” convincingly shows us that ordinary people who walk with God know the truth, live right, and love completely—three characteristics of a true follower of Christ. Correctly understood, John’s picture of the Christian life is more than a helpful definition. It is an essential blueprint for living a dynamic, balanced spiritual life. A Common Man’s Guide to God leads you on an in-depth journey of First John, paragraph by paragraph, over thirty-one days. It expands on John’s themes of truth, obedience, and love. Accurate to the text yet practical, this straightforward devotional is the perfect starting place for anyone hungry for a genuine relationship with God.

Book Synopsis Critical Theory of Legal Revolutions by : Hauke Brunkhorst
Download or read book Critical Theory of Legal Revolutions written by Hauke Brunkhorst and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2014-06-19 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique work analyzes the crisis in modern society, building on the ideas of the Frankfurt School thinkers. Emphasizing social evolution and learning processes, it argues that crisis is mediated by social class conflicts and collective learning, the results of which are embodied in constitutional and public law. First, the work outlines a new categorical framework of critical theory in which it is conceived as a theory of crisis. It shows that the Marxist focus on economy and on class struggle is too narrow to deal with the range of social conflicts within modern society, and posits that a crisis of legitimization is at the core of all crises. It then discusses the dialectic of revolutionary and evolutionary developmental processes of modern society and its legal system. This volume in the Critical Theory and Contemporary Society by a leading scholar in the field provides a new approach to critical theory that will appeal to anyone studying political sociology, political theory, and law.
