Even individuals that do not have a religious affiliation, express they associate forgiveness with religion. Approximately 30 years ago research scientist had a flux of groundbreaking discoveries concerning the connection between our mind and body. Studies proved that thoughts affect our emotions, and emotions affect our bodies. Here's an example of how your mind can affect your body. Imagine you're at work and you have a disagreement with your co-worker regarding the next step on a large project that is your responsibility. Your co-worker gets very defensive about how he feels and suddenly begins to make comments about you that were not true. You walked out of his office feeling, angry, hurt, and disappointed. Once you were in your office you noticed your heart was beating faster than usual and your breathing had increased. You were starting to get a headache as well. It's clear your feelings of anger and hurt affected your body. Here's another example that's more intense. After working hard one morning, your boss decides to give you the afternoon off. You were excited because your spouse works the night shift and you don't get to spend a lot of time together. As you walk in the house, you notice some shoes that didn't look familiar. You open the bedroom door and find your spouse in your bed with someone else. How would you feel? Maybe furious, hurt, outraged, shocked, etc., you never thought your spouse would do something like that. What type of physical symptoms do you think you may feel? Increased heart rate, An increase in your heart rate and breathing, light-headed, sweaty, nauseated, just to mention a few symptoms. From the example above, Do you believe it's important to forgive your spouse? What do you think happens if you do not forgive the person who hurts you? The negative memory is stored in your subconscious mind just like other memories. As time goes by you notice you don't think of the event much, you've been staying busy with work and friends. It may appear that time is healing your wounds and at some point, it will be forgotten. However, this is not what happens. It may be hard for you to believe right now, but unforgiveness over time will make you sick. I will explain precisely what happens in your body when you don't forgive that causes you to slowly become ill. When we go through emotional trauma, we have the choice to forgive or not to forgive. Are you willing to forgive? Do you know how to forgive? Are you aware of the cost of unforgiveness? You will find the answers to these questions and many more in this book. I hope my journey of forgiveness will inspire you to be forgiving so you can obtain the benefits of living a life of forgiveness.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is forgiveness? When is it appropriate? How is it encouraged or inhibited? Answering these questions one way rather than another can alter our lives and our relationships in dramatic ways. If we think that forgiveness is or involves a passion that we experience but over which we have little control, then we will respond to it differently than if we think forgiving is something we choose to do or refrain from doing. If we think forgiveness involves restoring a relationship, then we will treat it differently than if we think it merely a matter of managing our emotions. If we think forgiveness is something that must be earned or deserved then we will not even consider forgiving certain agents; whereas if we think it is something that can be freely given, then forgiving these agents may become a live option. Glen Pettigrove explores the nature and norms of forgiveness, drawing attention to important dimensions that have been neglected by other discussions of the topic. He highlights the significance of character, both of the forgiver and of the forgiven, for common perspectives on what forgiveness is and when it is appropriate. Pettigrove explores the relationship between forgiving, understanding, and loving. And he revives a virtue that has too long been neglected: namely, grace.

Book excerpt: In a culture where so many people think of middle age as a downward slope into comfy sneakers and quiet, meaningless existence, we can redefine the second half of life, shaping it into decades of fulfillment, fun, strength, and purpose. In our forties, fifties, and beyond, we're wrestling with new questions. Is this it? Did I do what I wanted to do in my life? Who am I now that my kids have moved out? Will my sagging skin eventually hang all the way down to my feet? We feel a little like the world has nudged us aside for the younger crowd. But God still has much in store for us. God doesn't bring us to the middle of our lives so we can park in front of the TV and binge-watch home makeover shows. There is no "midlife" to him! We are his gift to this world at every age and in every season, and it's time to embrace it like never before. Right now, we are the best we've ever been. We know more, we've done more, we've lost and loved more. We've figured out that all tweezers are not created equal for chin hairs and, best of all, we've crossed into a space of feeling more ourselves than ever before. These are exhilarating and empowering years. In Midlife Battle Cry, bestselling author Dawn Barton will inspire you to: realize that God isn't done with you (honestly, he's just getting started), view midlife as a pivot point, the start of a bold and powerful season, embrace who you are physically, spiritually, and emotionally, learn to share your experiences and wisdom with a younger generation, and accept that sometimes adding arch support to your cutest shoes is a really good idea. Blending lots of humor, honesty, stories, and insights, Dawn will walk you through redefining the mighty second half of life. It's time to rediscover your passions, pursue your dreams—and know your actions can cause not just a ripple effect but a magnificent tidal wave.

And it’s that struggle in our soul that keeps our hurts and hearts from being healed – creating a gap between our pain and the peace we’re so desperate for to seem completely unbridgeable. When it comes to forgiveness, we so easily confuse God’s love with our own and find ourselves frustrated and confused without a clear understanding of what God is really asking us to do. It’s through The Forgiveness Factor that you’ll come to clearly understand what God means when He says to ‘forgive’. And more than likely, it’s not what you think. It’s in uncovering the truth about forgiveness, by revealing the lies, that you’ll be set free from the burden that forgiveness seems to bring. You’ll realize that you’re only giving up your hope for a different past ... realizing that wrongs may never be made right, but they can be forgiven.

Book excerpt: In her unique work 365 Revelatory Words for Any Given Day, Dr. Jennifer Gilbert offers insights gleaned from life lessons she has learned over the years. Challenging events in the authors life led her to spend three years creating this special volume to encourage her readers to seek reflection, application, and revelation in their daily spiritual walk. Dr. Gilbert believes there is power in perseverance through painful persecution. She coined this phrase during the painful pursuit of deliverance from years of abusive relationships and other challenges that were overcome by the grace of God and radical perseverance against all odds. The author knows we all have those days where we just need a pick-me-up, days when it seems like just a simple word could offer a getaway, a reprieve from the day-to-day struggles we call life. That is what this book is meant to be: an easy, revelatory way of connecting with God and hearing what he has to say rather than being preached at with the usual scripture, three points, and a poem. Following on her previous books Churchin Aint Easy, . . . And Deliver Us from People, and For the Perfecting of the Saints: The Five Biblical Ministry Gifts and What They Mean to You, this work is certain to touch the hearts, minds, and souls of her readers.
