Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is generally a good idea to return to the classics in any genre. This also goes for UFO literature. Rereading a book after ten or twenty years is a rewarding experience. You will discover new data and ideas you didn ́t notice before. The reason, of course, is that you are, in many ways, not the same person reading the book the second or third time. Hopefully you have advanced in knowledge, experience, intellectual and spiritual discernment. A good starting point is to reread the contactee classics of the 1960s, in order to understand the deeper mystery involved in what happened during that era. The Flying Saucer Review was published under the banner of the Flying saucer Service, ltd, a London based UFO research by Charles Bowen. It issued a bimonthly magazine: Flying Saucer Review. This publication, like many others of that time, was a forum for fortean experience and UFO sightings.Saucerian Publisher was founded with the mission of promoting books in Science Fiction. A good starting point is to reread the contactee classics of the 1950s, in order to understand the deeper mystery involved in what happened during that era. Albert K. Bender (June 16, 1921 - March 29, 2016) author of the 1962 nonfiction book Flying Saucers and the Three Men, was one of the most influential ufologists of the 1950s/60s. He served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He was obsessed with the UFO phenomenon and became a UFO researcher, founding the International Flying Saucers Bureau. In 1965, he founded the Max Steiner Music Society. SPACE REVIEW was the official magazine about ufology established in in 1953 by Albert K. Bender. Bender made a series of discoveries, which led him to believe that he had finally found the truth to the UFO cover-up. He had planned to reveal his findings in the October issue of the Space Review, but before the issue was published, Bender was visited by three "men dressed in black," who had already read the unpublished report and confirmed his findings. The "silencers" as he called them, scared Bender to the point where he did not publish the report, but left a warning: "We advise those engaged in saucer work to please be very cautious." Bender then suspended publishing on his publication and dissolved the International Flying Saucer Bureau (IFSB). These issues of Bender's SPACE REVIEW, letter size are one of the earliest serials UFO publications. Saucerian Publisher was founded with the mission of promoting books in Science Fiction. Book excerpt: New Hampshire couple Betty and Barney Hill provided Americans with what is essentially the original alien abduction story. Since their story became public in the early 1960s, many thousands of Americans have likewise come forward with similar stories of traumatic experiences. Sometimes the abductee has little conscious recollection of these events, but through nightmares, dreams, flashbacks and hypnosis they eventually learn more. Sometimes the participants are bewildered. To get a better understanding of the opposing viewpoints of skeptic and believer, the Betty and Barney Hill case is used to examine the wider context of such encounters, their historical origins, media influences and the latest extraterrestrial, psychological, paranormal, conspiracy and sociological theories that surround them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the appearance of flying saucers in 1947, the world experienced a wave of UFOs for several years. By 1955, however, sightings appeared to have dropped significantly. Gray Barker took advantage of this break in ufological action to collect a series of articles that might explain what was going on. The articles herein not only describe, in detail, the various characteristics of the UFOs and their occupants, but also make it clear that UFO sightings and "contacts" were still continuing - they just weren't being reported by the mainstream media anymore. This special 2014 reprint of Saucerian Review's "Report on Flying Saucers" is an exact facsimile of the original, and features rare and illuminating articles by Barker, George Adamski, Morris K. Jessup, Jacqueline Sanders, Alice K. Wells, Laimon Mitris, and others. There is also an on-the-scene report from the site of the famous Hopkinsville, Kentucky "monster" incident, where a family shot at UFOs and little green aliens that were attacking their farm. This handcrafted gem is filled with wonderful illustrations and photos of the period, funky ads, field reports of famous cases, and a good amount of insight and wit. Adamski's scathing article about trickster Jim Moseley is just one of many special treats. A necessary addition to the shelf of today's historically minded saucer enthusiast.

Book excerpt: Written in the late 1950s at the height of popular fascination with UFO's, Flying Saucers is the great psychologist's brilliantly prescient meditation on the phenomenon that gripped the world. A self-confessed sceptic in such matters, Jung was nevertheless intrigued, not so much by their reality or unreality, but by their psychic aspect. He saw flying saucers as a modern myth in the making, to be passed down the generations just as we have received such myths from our ancestors. In this wonderful and enlightening book Jung sees UFO's as 'visionary rumours', the centre of a quasi-religious cult and carriers of our technological and salvationist fantasies. 40 years later, with entire religions based on the writings of science fiction authors, it is remarkable to see just how right he has proved to be.

The beings came to earth to steal a particular kind of corn. #3 The Algonquin story tells of a hunter who sees a basket that comes down from heaven. The basket contains twelve young maidens of ravishing beauty. The man attempts to approach them, but the celestial creatures quickly reenter the basket, which ascends rapidly out of sight. However, witnessing the descent of the strange object on another day, the same hunter uses a trick to come close to it and captures one of the girls, whom he marries and has a son with. #4 On November 6, 1957, twelve-year-old Everett Clark of Dante, Tennessee, saw a peculiar object in a field a hundred yards or so from his house. He thought he was dreaming and went back inside. When he called the dog twenty minutes later, the object was still there.

Book excerpt: New Saucerian is delighted to present Albert K. Bender's "Space Review," a collection of volumes from Bender's quarterly magazine of the same name. Bender was the founder of the first major UFO club in the world, the International Flying Saucer Bureau (IFSB), founded in 1952. Even though the bureau was a great success, it was mysteriously closed down the following year. This rare anthology was originally published in conjunction with Bender's first book, Flying Saucers and the Three Men, which was beset by various "jinxes," Men in Black attacks, missing manuscripts, psychic disturbances, and other unusual delays. Until now, these issues of "Space Review" were only available to members. For the first time ever, they are being made available for the general public to enjoy. Inside, one finds interesting details that may lead to some understanding of what exactly happened to Bender, who became a media star after announcing he had been taken to a "bisexual" planet, Kazik. According to Bender, the denizens of Kazik had not only surrounded Earth with an array of orbiting spacecraft, but had also buried "motherships" in remote regions like Antarctica, in an effort to extract a key substance from our seawater. Bender's colorful descriptions of the people of Kazik, having received wide attention in the early days of ufology, influenced a generation of saucer enthusiasts, who put the stories into mass circulation. As a result, many elements of Bender's fantastical tale can still be found today, in programs like Futurama, The Matrix, X-Files, and countless others. "Perhaps the single biggest influence on saucer lore, ever..." -John A. Keel

Book excerpt: "In the threatening situation of the world today, when people are beginning to see that everything is at stake, the projection-creating fantasy soars beyond the realm of earthly organizations and powers into the heavens, into interstellar space, where the rulers of human fate, the gods, once had their abode in the planets.... Even people who would never have thought that a religious problem could be a serious matter that concerned them personally are beginning to ask themselves fundamental questions. Under these circumstances it would not be at all surprising if those sections of the community who ask themselves nothing were visited by `visions,' by a widespread myth seriously believed in by some and rejected as absurd by others."--C. G. Jung, in Flying Saucers ? Jung's primary concern in Flying Saucers is not with the reality or unreality of UFOs but with their psychic aspect. Rather than speculate about their possible nature and extraterrestrial origin as alleged spacecraft, he asks what it may signify that these phenomena, whether real or imagined, are seen in such numbers just at a time when humankind is menaced as never before in history. The UFOs represent, in Jung's phrase, "a modern myth."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The SAUCERIAN was a saucer magazine founded by Gray Barker, as editor. The main idea behind The SAUCERIAN, like many similar publications of that time, was to create a forum for UFO experience and saucer sightings for the purpose of the investigation of spacecraft, extra-terrestrial travel, and other subjects relating to these matters in order to encourage public support of projects in connection with these phenomena. The SAUCERIAN was published under the banner of Barker's Saucerian Books. Gray Barker (May 2, 1925 - December 6, 1984) was an American writer best known for his books about UFOs and other paranormal phenomena. His 1956 book They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers introduced the notion of the Men in Black to UFO folklore. He spent most of his life in central West Virginia, earning a degree from Glenville State College, teaching school, and booking acts for local theaters. Barker's interest in unidentified flying objects was sparked by mysterious sightings of the Flatwoods Monster in 1952. Following the 1967 collapse of the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant, Barker published his next book, The Silver Bridge, which popularized the Mothman legend. In 1983, he wrote MIB, The Terror Among Us, about the Men in Black. Saucerian Publisher was founded with the mission of promoting books in Science Fiction. Our vision is to preserve the legacy of literary history by reprint editions of books which have already been exhausted or are difficult to obtain. Our goal is to help readers, educators and researchers by bringing back original publications that are difficult to find at reasonable price, while preserving the legacy of universal knowledge. Very rare The SAUCERIAN collection! This is a rare set of The SAUCERIAN issues published by Gray Barker between 1953 and 1955. These are VERY hard to come across these days. We decided to published them as a collected edition as a set (6 issues) to make it easier for someone to add them to their flying saucer / UFO collection. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the late 1960s and early 1970s, when he was subject to nonstop surveillance and harassment from both human and supernatural spooks, intrepid Fortean investigator John A. Keel made extensive field notes concerning the phenomena he was confronting in West Virginia and New York: UFOs, Men in Black, creature entities, ultraterrestrials, and odd coincidences and synchronicities. The result was a series of concise, thematically related reports, many of which were incorporated into magazine articles for Saga, Fate, Flying Saucer Review, and Flying Saucers magazine. In those articles, Keel unraveled threads discussed in his classic books "Operation Trojan Horse," "The Mothman Prophecies," and "The Eighth Tower," which were written soon after. Utilizing occult lore, recent scientific research, and direct personal investigation, Keel drew back the curtain on the mind-blowing nature of our terrestrial reality. In this volume, we look at Keel's favorite articles from Flying Saucers magazine, which was published and edited largely by Ray Palmer. Keel went on record as saying that he thought Palmer was the "father of ufology," and he helped Palmer by submitting many articles to the magazine, and even helping with editing chores whenever possible. This special Keel-curated edition features interesting articles by Keel, Palmer, Brad Steiger, Gray Barker, Brent Raynes, Peter Guttilla, William Cullen, Larry Bryant, Alois Knapp, Tom Lingham, Jennifer Stevens, Erich Aggen, Jr., Dennis Stamey, Alberto Perego, T. Book excerpt: After the Flying Saucers Came is a comprehensive account of the stories, the people, and the strange events that went into making the fascination with UFOs and aliens a worldwide phenomenon among believers, skeptics, and the simply curious. It traces how an odd sighting of "flying saucers" by an American pilot in 1947 inspired governments, the media, scientists, writers, and the general public to consider the possibility that extraterrestrials were visiting earth.
