Book Synopsis The Christian Foundation, Or, Scientific and Religious Journal, Volume I, No. 11 November 1880 by : Aaron Aaron Walker
Download or read book The Christian Foundation, Or, Scientific and Religious Journal, Volume I, No. 11 November 1880 written by Aaron Aaron Walker and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The character which the gospel of Christ requires is made up of all that is lovely, is formed upon the highest model, but it is not composed of the insensibility, the anger, the pride, the egotism, the worldliness, which is so common among men. It is not the cold indifference of modern moralists; it is not the rank and scepticism of modern doubters, nor yet the intellectual rashness and moral phantoms of modern scientists. These have done all they could to take possession of the human heart, and have left it more miserable than it was before. The great author of our holy religion, through the instrumentality of our blessed Savior, brings us into the possession of his own spirit; imparts to us the elements of his own divine excellence; forms us anew in his own image. The idea of "Emanuel, God with us," is composed of the richest elements. It embraces all that is venerable in wisdom, wonderful in authority, and touching in goodness. Human greatness, blended with imperfections and many limitations, is seen only in detached and separate parts; never appears in any one character whole and entire; but in our Lord Jesus Christ these conceptions, or scattered rays of an ideal excellence, are brought together and constitute the real attributes of that Savior whom we worship, who stands in the nearest relation to us, who is the "head of all principality and power," and who pervades all nature with his presence. The object of the Christian religion is to recover man from his degraded, miserable condition, elevate him above his debasement, and reinvest him with the character of Christ, that he may eventually dwell with the angels in the perfections of the Infinite One.

Download or read book Genesis In The Beginning Volume 1, Chapters 1-11 written by Practical Christianity Foundation and published by Practical Christianity Foundation. This book was released on 2020-08-08 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Genesis: the book of beginnings. The book of Genesis is not only the first book of the Bible detailing the beginnings of Creation and life as we know it, but also serves as the over-arching and pervasive sacred reference for the true understanding of the entire Bible as intended by the Author, God, the Spirit of Truth. Genesis in its entirety, and the first eleven chapters in particular are indispensable for a meaningful understanding of God's living Word. Genesis chapter one is the majestic and glorious opening of the Bible. Armed with a real understanding of God's revealed identity, His awesome Power, and the nature of His Purpose outlined in Genesis chapters one through eleven, the student of the Bible can confidently follow the Biblical narrative as the account of God's relationship to man unfolds through the records of time and history chronicled in the pages of the Holy Bible. The Prophets, the Psalmist, the Poets, the Evangelists, and the Apostles were inspired to expound what is revealed in Genesis chapters one through eleven. Flowing out of Genesis, the Biblical narrative tells the account of creation, rebellion, and redemption in the context of God's Holiness, Righteousness, Justice, and Glory. We believe that it is absolutely necessary that the believer must meditate upon the first eleven chapters of Genesis in order to be open and well prepared to learn the Truth about God's Will, Purpose, and Plan concerning creation in general and man in particular.
Book Synopsis The Beauty of the Lord by : Jonathan King
Download or read book The Beauty of the Lord written by Jonathan King and published by Lexham Press. This book was released on 2018-05-30 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why is God's beauty often absent from our theology? Rarely do theologians take up the theme of God's beauty—even more rarely do they consider how God's beauty should shape the task of theology itself. But the psalmist says that the heart of the believer's desire is to behold the beauty of the Lord. In The Beauty of the Lord, Jonathan King restores aesthetics as not merely a valid lens for theological reflection, but an essential one. Jesus, our incarnate Redeemer, displays the Triune God's beauty in his actions and person, from creation to final consummation. How can and should theology better reflect this unveiled beauty? The Beauty of the Lord is a renewal of a truly aesthetic theology and a properly theological aesthetics.
