Book Synopsis Mechanism of the Vapour-phase Interaction of Alkanes with Nitrogen Dioxide (the Kinetics and Chemical Peculiarities of the Slow Reaction C3h8-no2). by : A. P. Ballod

Ballod and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The orders of the slow reaction of propane with nitrogen dioxide (as the starting substances) are temperature-dependent. At 225C and 250C, the order according to C3H8, is 1.0; at 300C, and 350C, the order according to C3H8 is 0.75; and according to NO2-1.6. The effective energy of activation in the nitration reaction of propane by nitrogen dioxide, is 30,000 plus or minus 2,000 cal/mol in the range of 200-350C. The nitro-alkanes are the end products of the slow reaction at 250C; while at 350C they experience further transformations. Acetaldehyde, isopropyl alcohol, and methyl nitrite are intermediate products of the slow reaction. Acetone is formed as a result of secondary reactions, and does not experience any further transformation. (Author).

Book Synopsis Chemistry of the Upper and Lower Atmosphere by : Barbara J. Finlayson-Pitts
Download or read book Chemistry of the Upper and Lower Atmosphere written by Barbara J. Finlayson-Pitts and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1999-11-17 with total page 993 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the most comprehensive and up-to-date treatment of one of the hottest areas of chemical research. The treatment of fundamental kinetics and photochemistry will be highly useful to chemistry students and their instructors at the graduate level, as well as postdoctoral fellows entering this new, exciting, and well-funded field with a Ph.D. in a related discipline (e.g., analytical, organic, or physical chemistry, chemical physics, etc.). Chemistry of the Upper and Lower Atmosphere provides postgraduate researchers and teachers with a uniquely detailed, comprehensive, and authoritative resource. The text bridges the "gap" between the fundamental chemistry of the earth's atmosphere and "real world" examples of its application to the development of sound scientific risk assessments and associated risk management control strategies for both tropospheric and stratospheric pollutants. Serves as a graduate textbook and "must have" reference for all atmospheric scientists Provides more than 5000 references to the literature through the end of 1998 Presents tables of new actinic flux data for the troposphere and stratospher (0-40km) Summarizes kinetic and photochemical date for the troposphere and stratosphere Features problems at the end of most chapters to enhance the book's use in teaching Includes applications of the OZIPR box model with comprehensive chemistry for student use

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This easy-to-read work is a comprehensive review which focuses primarily on catalytic methanol synthesis. It includes a historic summary of the development of methanol synthesis technology, as well as extensive discussions on statistical experimental design, fabrication and operation of laboratory scale systems. This unique volume also discusses various new catalysts and processes, with special attention to the thermodynamics of methanol synthesis-especially in relation to the new liquid phase process. The comprehensive and practical approach to chemical and synfuel process development makes it an excellent reference in methanol synthesis, reactor design, and scale-up. Written as a practical guide to researchers who are involved in hands-on process research, this book is also a valuable asset to practicing chemical engineers and graduate students interested in reaction engineering, thermodynamics, catalyst development and process design.
