The booklet includes a bibliography of California-related literary items on display in many libraries throughout California, which includes works of authors closely associated with California, such as Mary Austin, Ambrose Bierce, Richard Henry Dana, Jr., Bret Harte, Helen Hunt Jackson, George Sterling, Jack London, John Muir, Robert Louis Stevenson, Mark Twain, and others. There are also announcements of various exhibits: first, an exhibit entitled "California: The Centennial of the Gold rush and the First State Constitution," a display of rare books, manuscripts, prints, maps, and other California items from the collections of the Library of Congress, which will travel to libraries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Diego between April 21 and Sept 9, 1950; another exhibit, "A Century of California Literature" will be on display at the Huntington Library in San Marino; and finally, "A Centennial Exposition of California Journalism," co-sponsored by the California Newspaper Publishers Association, can be viewed at the Electric Building in Balboa Park, San Diego, Aug. 1-Sept. 9, 1950.
