The writer shows the many groups that fall into the British Israelism camp. The book also contains maps of the Holy Land and the land grants of the various tribes, as well as letters from leading institutions of higher education refuting the claims of British Israelism.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Israel in Britain: A Brief Statement of the Evidences in Proof of the Israelitish Origin of the British Race There has been much written upon the asserted identity of the British race with the Israelites of the Ten Tribes, but it has failed to convince many pious Christians, chiefly because the arguments in support of this identity have often been mixed up with speculations which, however interesting, and perhaps important to those who already believe in this identity, are unsupported by sufficient evidence, and liable, therefore, to be seized upon by the sceptical reader as reasons for rejecting the whole argument. The subject has also been sometimes discredited by superficial and illogical conclusions based on imperfect knowledge, and by the wild and fanciful theories of some of its supporters, which have seemed to justify sober-minded enquirers in throwing aside the question as one only fitted for cranks and persons of unbalanced minds. It may also be remarked that there are persons in our midst who would do all in their power to throw discredit and contempt upon a subject which, if true and generally accepted, would go far to restore the waning belief of multitudes in the truth of the Bible, and to re-unite the people of a kingdom which it is the object of our enemies to break up and destroy. But the doubtful statements and theories which tend to discredit the subject are merely accretions which are liable to gather round any great truth, and are in no way essential to the true arguments in its favour. In the following pages the author has therefore excluded all doubtful statements and theories, and has endeavoured to state as briefly as possible those arguments, scriptural and historical, which may be expected to appeal to anyone with an open mind. Book excerpt: When The Hope of Israel was translated into English in 1652, its argument from Scripture that messianic redemption would not come to the Jewish people until they were scattered in all the corners of the Earth aroused great interest and played an instrumental part in the discussions in the Commonwealth under Cromwell which eventually led to the readmission of the Jews in 1656. This edition of that English text includes an introduction and notes which place the work in the intellectual context of its time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Ephraim. The Gentile Children of Israel" traces the Lost Ten Tribes to the British Isles, North America, Australia, and related areas. Sources used include the Bible, Midrashim, other Rabbinical texts, and secular sources. Descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel in the Aggregate have certain national characteristics that allow us to confirm their Israelite ancestry. The pertinent criteria for determining Israelite origins are discussed. Jewish Traditions in Arab Lands traced the Ten Tribes to France and Britain. The same applies to the Sons of Moses and the Rechabites both of whom, in Jewish tradition, were also associated with the Ten Tribes and located in the same areas. Australia and New Zealand are the Land of Sinim which is one of the areas it was prophesied the Ten Tribes would be found in towards the End times (Isaiah 49:12). Rabbinical sources trace the Lost Ten Tribes to three major areas. We identify the areas in question and show how these identifications confirm the Lost Ten Tribes being now found among western peoples. A turning point in the history of England was marked by the Tudor Monarchs. Henry-7 (1457-1509) adopted the Tudor Rose as his symbol and it still is in official usage as representative of the monarchy and of Britain. The Tudor Rose with its red and white petals was described as representative of Israel in the opening pages of the Zohar which a major Rabbinical spiritual treatise. Traditional names for the Isles of Britain and Ireland are those applied to the place of Exile of the Ten Tribes in Rabbinical sources. The Maharal (ca. 1512-1609) was an outstanding Rabbinical authority whose authority is acknowledged by all present day Orthodox Rabbinical authorities. An analysis of the same sources we use by the Maharal confirms our findings and also points to America as the major center for the Ten Tribes in the End Times! Rabbinical sources concerning the Lost Ten Tribes are compared to Welsh and Irish traditions. They complement and affirm each other. Recent Rabbinical scholars, who were also great men in their own right and still are amongst the most revered authorities, have considered in the past the role of the Ten Tribes in the coming Redemption. Their observations are pertinent to all of us today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Myth of the Twelve Tribes of Israel is the first study to treat the history of claims to an Israelite identity as an ongoing historical phenomenon from biblical times to the present. By treating the Hebrew Bible's accounts of Israel as one of many efforts to construct an Israelite history, rather than source material for later legends, Andrew Tobolowsky brings a long-term comparative approach to biblical and nonbiblical “Israelite” histories. In the process, he sheds new light on how the structure of the twelve tribes tradition enables the creation of so many different visions of Israel, and generates new questions: How can we explain the enduring power of the myth of the twelve tribes of Israel? How does “becoming Israel” work, why has it proven so popular, and how did it change over time? Finally, what can the changing shape of Israel itself reveal about those who claimed it?

The Hebrew Identity of Celtic Races," provides Proof that amongst Celtic Peoples (especially those of Britain and Ireland) were to be found many Hebrews from the Lost Ten Tribes. This still applies today, to their descendants. The Ten Tribes were exiled in stages to a few major regions. One section became part of the Cimmerians and helped give rise to Celtic Civilization. Another portion were transported under Assyrian-Edomite direction in Philistine (Minoan), and Phoenician (Tyrian) ships to Spain and from there moved to Ireland, Gaul, and Britain. This is confirmed by archaeology and written accounts including those from Ireland, Wales, Britain, and Scotland. Celtic Mythology in the west encompasses proof of Israelite ancestry. The Picts of Scotland were otherwise known as Agathyrsi. They were related to the Khazars who in Scythia recognized their Israelite origins and converted to Judaism. Samuel Bochart (1600s) proved how the names of deities, religious beliefs, and so on of the Celts in Gaul and Britain may be traced to Phoenician influence. This in effect meant Israelite Ancestry. The Celts did not call themselves "Celts" but rather "Iberi" meaning "Hebrews" in the Hebrew tongue. Jewish legends help trace the Lost Ten Tribes to Celtic peoples. Numerous names associated with Celtic groups are similar to those associated with Tribal groupings among the Hebrews, e.g. GEBER = Gabar of Manasseh; Parissi = Peresh of Menasseh; Uladah (Ulster) = Eladah of Ephraim; Isru and Isurium (of Britain) = Israel; etc. The same applies with the names of gods and place-names. Sources for the evidence in this regard include the Geography of Ptolemy concerning the British Isles and other areas. The Celts practiced the Druidic Religion which has similarities with ancient Canaanite paganism as well as parallels to the Levites of Ancient Israel and the Pharisees of Judah. In Scotland there existed strong taboos against swine and other foods interdicted by the Bible. The languages of Celtic Ireland and Gaelic Scotland show Hebrew substructures together with many words of Hebrew origin in their vocabularies. The figure of Yair son of Manasseh who was a Biblical Patriarch reappears in Ireland and Scotland. Irish and Welsh legends confirm the presence of Israelites among their ancestors.
