Book Synopsis An Experimental Investigation of the Surface Pressure and the Laminar Boundary Layer on a Blunt Flat Plate in Hypersonic Flow: Surface pressure distributions on a blunted flat plate by : G. M. Gregorek
Download or read book An Experimental Investigation of the Surface Pressure and the Laminar Boundary Layer on a Blunt Flat Plate in Hypersonic Flow: Surface pressure distributions on a blunted flat plate written by G. M. Gregorek and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vol. 1 Pressures were measured over the surface of an unswept blunt flat plate having a cylindrical leading edge 1/2-inch in diameter. The flat plate was side-mounted in the ALOSU 12-inch continuous hypersonic wind tunnel. Separate tests were conducted with cylinders in order to obtain detailed data for the leading-edge. Stagnation temperatures were sufficiently high to eliminate condensation effects. The leading edge and cylinder pressure ratios were noted to be independent of both Mach number and Reynolds number. The flat plate pressure ratios show a small dependence on Mach number. Reynolds number effects on the plate pressure ratios were small except at the lower levels of Reynolds number where the interaction of the thickened boundary layer caused increases in pressure.
Book Synopsis The Blunt-leading-edge Problem in Hypersonic Flow by : Hakurō Oguchi
Download or read book The Blunt-leading-edge Problem in Hypersonic Flow written by Hakurō Oguchi and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Study was made of the hypersonic flow over a flat plate with a blunt nose. The analysis is based on the flow model in which the flow field behind the shock wave may be divided into two regions: (1) the inviscid-hypersonic-flow region and (2) the entropy layer, across which the pressure undergoes no appreciable change. Book Synopsis Pressures on the Blunt Plate Wing at Supersonic and Hypersonic Speeds by : John D. Lee
Download or read book Pressures on the Blunt Plate Wing at Supersonic and Hypersonic Speeds written by John D. Lee and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over wide ranges in Mach number, sweep angle and attack angle, simple adjusted forms of Newtonian, Prandtl-Meyer, and blast wave theories may be used to accurately predict the pressure distributions on blunt-edged flat plates, in cluding the leading edge regions. On the leading edge, Newtonian-Prandtl-Meyer flow may be adjusted with an empirical factor to fit available experimental data. For the plate surface, the blast wave equation is modified by matching to the pressures at the cylinder-plate junction and on the infinite wedge, corresponding to the proper sweep and attack angle. Book Synopsis Hypersonic and High Temperature Gas Dynamics by : John David Anderson
Download or read book Hypersonic and High Temperature Gas Dynamics written by John David Anderson and published by AIAA. This book was released on 1989 with total page 710 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a self-contained text for those students and readers interested in learning hypersonic flow and high-temperature gas dynamics. It assumes no prior familiarity with either subject on the part of the reader. If you have never studied hypersonic and/or high-temperature gas dynamics before, and if you have never worked extensively in the area, then this book is for you. On the other hand, if you have worked and/or are working in these areas, and you want a cohesive presentation of the fundamentals, a development of important theory and techniques, a discussion of the salient results with emphasis on the physical aspects, and a presentation of modern thinking in these areas, then this book is also for you. In other words, this book is designed for two roles: 1) as an effective classroom text that can be used with ease by the instructor, and understood with ease by the student; and 2) as a viable, professional working tool for engineers, scientists, and managers who have any contact in their jobs with hypersonic and/or high-temperature flow.
