Book Synopsis The Naked Man Flees by : Michael Zwaagstra
Download or read book The Naked Man Flees written by Michael Zwaagstra and published by . This book was released on 2020-07-21 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Far too many Christians have only a superficial understanding of the Bible. They are familiar with some of the best-known stories and the main themes within it but draw a blank when it comes to some of the more obscure Bible passages. This is unfortunate. Paul makes it clear in 2 Timothy 3:16 that all Scripture is inspired by God, not just the parts that we hear about most often in contemporary culture. Each of this book's 40 chapters deals with one of these lesser-known Bible passages. Thoroughly evangelical in its approach, this book consistently affirms a high view of Scripture. Readers will learn about the time Abraham shooed the vultures away, how God nearly killed Moses for something he didn't do, the need for Christians to be more shrewd, and why Paul circumcised Timothy in order to get a proper hearing for the gospel among the Jews. Each of these passages is carefully examined and readers are shown how the principles within them are applicable to Christians today.

If they did, they would no longer struggle with the fear, shame, guilt, and doubt that keep them from Gods best. As you learn about your conscience, youll learn how to walk in greater intimacy with Jesus, how to pray with boldness and confidence, how to receive Gods promises, and how to break free from fear and doubt once and for all.
Book Synopsis The Naked Bible by : Andrew Bernardin
Download or read book The Naked Bible written by Andrew Bernardin and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2010-03 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is much more to the Bible than the select cherries preachers and politicians pluck from its hundreds of pages. There exists, in fact, a massive, rotten underside. But who has the time and sufficient quantities of NoDoz to read the entire book? In this collection of brief, entertaining essays, written in a tone both matter-of-fact incredulous and wryly sarcastic, Andrew Bernardin dives deep beneath the Bible's cover to share a peek of some of the customarily cloaked, sordid content. He reveals both how "God's inerrant word" has been worded differently in many versions of the Bible, and how “God's Message” changes from Genesis to Revelation within each Bible. In addition to the essays, Naked contains bonus, eye-opening verses translated into blunt, everyday English. From front to back, The Naked Bible strips bare the outright scandalous and plainly silly alike. If you care to know more about the lesser known Bible, this is one fun way to do it.-[Revised 04/11 to update formatting and correct typographical errors.]
Book Synopsis The Holy Bible: Naked, and Exposed by : Ross J Miller Dds
Download or read book The Holy Bible: Naked, and Exposed written by Ross J Miller Dds and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-02-16 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What's actually in the least-read bestseller of all time? A typical Bible is virtually impenetrable to a casual reader. Except for the cherry-picked "good parts," most Christians have very little familiarity with their supposed holy book. Those who have slogged their way through it, page by tortuous page, usually come out the other end with little comprehension of what they've read. That's because the Bible is a grossly repetitive, horrendously overwritten and sloppily edited book of staggering length. The HBNE has stripped away the flummery and nebulous prose to reveal the cold, hard narrative: It's shocking. It's hilarious. It's deeply disturbing. And yet despite all that, the Bible is a VASTLY entertaining read when you actually understand what it's saying. With handy commentary incorporated into the text, the reader will instantly grasp the point of entire chapters in mere minutes. Discover the Bible your clergy wish you would ignore, and which your friends and family never knew existed.

Download or read book Miracles Today written by Craig S. Keener and published by Baker Academic. This book was released on 2021-10-19 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do miracles still happen today? This book demonstrates that miraculous works of God, which have been part of the experience of the church around the world since Christianity began, continue into the present. Leading New Testament scholar Craig Keener addresses common questions about miracles and provides compelling reasons to believe in them today, including many accounts that offer evidence of verifiable miracles. This book gives an accessible and concise overview of one of Keener's most significant research topics. His earlier two-volume work on miracles stands as the definitive word on the topic, but its size and scope are daunting to many readers. This new book summarizes Keener's basic argument but contains substantial new material, including new accounts of the miraculous. It is suitable as a textbook but also accessible to church leaders and laypeople.

Book Synopsis Naked and Unafraid by : Kevin Gerald
Download or read book Naked and Unafraid written by Kevin Gerald and published by FaithWords. This book was released on 2020-02-04 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Celebrate a vulnerable and open life by overcoming your fear of criticism and start living the life God intended. Fear of criticism has turned into a massive epidemic harder than ever to overcome. It prevents people from speaking up; it's why most people struggle to make decisions; it's why we're uncomfortable with vulnerability and openness; and it's why so many are unable to meet their full potential. But it doesn't have to be that way. Through the Bible story of King David dancing naked in the streets while his distant, guarded, and critical wife watches from a window, Naked and Unafraid provides a visual contrast of these two characters that sheds light on the way we all approach life and explains how the fear of criticism impacts our lives much more than we realize or are willing to admit. God didn't create us to live guarded, isolated lives. Our greatest fulfillment isn't found in the window. It's found in the street. Everything in our lives, including our relationships, our work, our emotional and spiritual health, gets better in a place of openness and vulnerability. But that doesn't mean it's easy. . . because it's not. Vulnerability is risky. Exposure is scary. Naked and Unafraid pushes readers to: Find the courage to not let criticism control or determine who they are and what they do. Stop living in the shallow end of relationships and experience the rewards that true vulnerability can bring. Abandon smallness and live the life they were born to live. Discover how the fear of criticism diminishes in direct proportion to understanding it. Reject the limitations and inhibitions of "window living," so they can experience the freedom and rewards of "street life." Confront their own worst critic that counts them out of what God has included them in. God will help you move away from window watching, and toward street dancing. Know who He says you are, and live in that freedom!

Book Synopsis Old Testament Cosmology and Divine Accommodation by : John W. Hilber
Download or read book Old Testament Cosmology and Divine Accommodation written by John W. Hilber and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-04-03 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to reconcile the discrepancies between ancient and modern cosmology, confessional scholars from every viewpoint on the interpretation of the early chapters of Genesis agree that God accommodated language to finite human understanding. But in the history of interpretation, no consensus has emerged regarding what accommodation entails at the linguistic level. More precise consideration of how the ancient cognitive environment functions in the informative intention of the divine and human authors is necessary. Not only does relevance theory validate interpretative options that are inherently most probable within the primary communication situation, but the application of relevance theory can also help disentangle the complexities of dual authorship inherent in any model of accommodation. The results also make a salutary contribution to the theological reading of Scripture.
