Book Synopsis The Trustworthiness of God by : Paul Helm
Download or read book The Trustworthiness of God written by Paul Helm and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For two millennia the church has affirmed and celebrated Scripture as the written word of God. However, in the twentieth century, the doctrine of Scripture became the focus and flashpoint for division. One legacy of those debates has been a reluctance to address the nature of Scripture. This collection of essays seeks to re-open dialogue on this fundamental tenet of the Christian faith, by offering something of a prelude to a fresh approach to Scripture. In particular, these explorations seek to map out some implications of the fundamental link between the character of God as trustworthy and the trustworthiness of His word. Following an introductory orientation, the first two sections take soundings in selected texts from the Old and New Testaments. The third section offers perspectives from church history, and also grapples with aspects of the contemporary context and philosophical and epistemological issues. Two responses to the main essays complete the collection. None of the contributors wishes to articulate the discussion in terms of the categories of past controversies, or pretends to offer an exhaustive analysis. All, however, share the desire to engage their readers in constructive dialogue on this vital issue.

Book excerpt: Th is book is going to blow your mind with exclusive truth that has been hidden for decades because it was not understood by the mainline Christian (Protestant) Churches and denominations. Read it for yourself and stop being deceived by your own church. You are going to learn something that you had not known before about JESUS in the Old and New Testaments; and his two natures during his incarnation on earth. Did you not know yet that the Almighty God of Abraham did not have a Son in heaven called Jesus? . . . Did you? . . . Really? Of course! JESUS was the Almighty God of Abraham before his incarnation through Mary at Bethlehem. HE alone created the heaven and the earth. Th ere is no other God besides him. None before him and after him. Worship is due to JESUS alone. He was the Father who became the Son of God through Mary at Bethlehem by the incarnation process. While JEHOVAH was in human fl esh called Jesus, he did not cease from being God the Father. As an immortal God from eternity, Jesus Christ’s divinity cannot die. Th erefore, only his humanity died at Calvary.
Book Synopsis Your Evolving Soul by : Byron Belitsos
Download or read book Your Evolving Soul written by Byron Belitsos and published by Red Wheel/Weiser. This book was released on 2017-05-25 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sparks of genuine revelation are contained in many religions and esoteric systems. Your Evolving Soul declares that we’ve been graced with a new revelation for our time: the little-known Urantia Book, which has quietly sold over one million copies in a dozen languages. According to the author of this comparative analysis, the disclosures about self, soul, and spirit in the Urantia Revelation stand alone in their coherence and richness of detail. Your Evolving Soul is the first book to fully explain this advanced teaching for the ordinary reader, offering clarity and inspiration for those on any path. Belitsos compares the Urantia Book’s futuristic teachings about the threefold design of the human self-system to the models of selfhood proposed by many previous thinkers, ranging from from Plato and Saint Augustine to Carl Jung and Ken Wilber. He provides essential context for this discussion by illumining the relationship of the Urantia text to scientific psychology and to the world’s religions, with special emphasis on Christianity and Buddhism. Your Evolving Soul also provides an introduction to the cosmology, theology, and philosophy of the Urantia teaching, and reveals its many affinities with contemporary integral theory and modern theology. Through his lucid interpretation of the Urantia Revelation, the author offers a model of the human self and soul to be tested, examined, and compared—not a finished truth to be accepted as doctrine. Readers of this book will discover a plausible hypothesis of how our evolving soul becomes an immortal vehicle of our true identity. They also learn how our soul-making decisions can lead to the development of a creative, loving, unified, and perfected personality, now and into the afterlife.

Book excerpt: A careful and informed assessment of the “emerging church” by a respected author and scholar The “emerging church” movement has generated a lot of excitement and exerts an astonishingly broad influence.
