Book Synopsis Hydraulics of Sediment Transport by : Walter Hans Graf
Download or read book Hydraulics of Sediment Transport written by Walter Hans Graf and published by Water Resources Publication. This book was released on 1984 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is divided into four parts: Part 1 is entitled "A Short History of Sediment Transport"; Part 2 deals with the "Hydrodynamics of Fluid-Particle Systems"; Part 3 is concerned with the "Sediment Transport in Open Channels"; and Part 4 describes the "Sediment Transport in Closed Pipes." The intent of this book was to make each part as self-contained as possible which has made this an exceptional and successful textbook. The brief introduction preceding each part will help the reader become familiar with the topic. This book has been used successfully both as a classroom textbook and as a reference book by consultants involved with sediment transport.

Book Synopsis River Flow 2016 by : George Constantinescu
Download or read book River Flow 2016 written by George Constantinescu and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-06-22 with total page 2439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding and being able to predict fluvial processes is one of the biggest challenges for hydraulics and environmental engineers, hydrologists and other scientists interested in preserving and restoring the diverse functions of rivers. The interactions among flow, turbulence, vegetation, macroinvertebrates and other organisms, as well as the transport and retention of particulate matter, have important consequences on the ecological health of rivers. Managing rivers in an ecologically friendly way is a major component of sustainable engineering design, maintenance and restoration of ecological habitats. To address these challenges, a major focus of River Flow 2016 was to highlight the latest advances in experimental, computational and theoretical approaches that can be used to deepen our understanding and capacity to predict flow and the associated fluid-driven ecological processes, anthropogenic influences, sediment transport and morphodynamic processes. River Flow 2016 was organized under the auspices of the Committee for Fluvial Hydraulics of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR). Since its first edition in 2002, the River Flow conference series has become the main international event focusing on river hydrodynamics, sediment transport, river engineering and restoration. Some of the highlights of the 8th International Conference on Fluvial Hydraulics were to focus on inter-disciplinary research involving, among others, ecological and biological aspects relevant to river flows and processes and to emphasize broader themes dealing with river sustainability. River Flow 2016 contains the contributions presented during the regular sessions covering the main conference themes and the special sessions focusing on specific hot topics of river flow research, and will be of interest to academics interested in hydraulics, hydrology and environmental engineering.

Book Synopsis Physical Processes and Measurement Devices by : Jean-Michel Tanguy
Download or read book Physical Processes and Measurement Devices written by Jean-Michel Tanguy and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-05-13 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This series of five volumes proposes an integrated description of physical processes modeling used by scientific disciplines from meteorology to coastal morphodynamics. Volume 1 describes the physical processes and identifies the main measurement devices used to measure the main parameters that are indispensable to implement all these simulation tools. Volume 2 presents the different theories in an integrated approach: mathematical models as well as conceptual models, used by all disciplines to represent these processes. Volume 3 identifies the main numerical methods used in all these scientific fields to translate mathematical models into numerical tools. Volume 4 is composed of a series of case studies, dedicated to practical applications of these tools in engineering problems. To complete this presentation, volume 5 identifies and describes the modeling software in each discipline.
